I did a search for the answer to this question, but I think I was coming up with older (2006) replies and I want to make sure I get a more accurate reply. I understand that children must choose from the children's menu at TS restaurants, but I'm not sure I understand about CS restaurants. Do children have to choose from a children's menu, or can we just order from the full menu like last year? Thanks for your help!

On the dining plan brochure it says children must order from the children's menu where available. that line hasnt changed...it was that way in 2006 and is so now. It doesn't differentiate between table/counter service. It is true that the table service meals have been separated child/adult while the counter service hasn't.

My kids were allowed to order from the regular menu at a few CS meals. All of the CS restaurants wouldn't allow it, but some did. We just asked when we were ordering. But of course that was Sept. of 2006, so they may have changed that by now.

There have been reports of CMs being spot-audited on compliance for this -- even late last year at some of TS restaurants.

There was a change in the brochure related to this in 2007. They made it very clear that child meal entitlements must be used for child meals, whether there is enforcement in place or not.

In March we had a 9 year old with us who didn't like some of the things on kids menus on the CS meals. We would ask at each CS and some let her order anything and some enforced the rule...at the ones who let her order anything, still rung her up as a child - somehow...

I suggest you ask at each CS. TS is stricter and they must order from kids menu there...

I am missing something I think. Last year when we went, for CS one of us would just walk up and order and the other would go sit with the kids and wait. We usually shared 2 meals. So how does it work if you only want one adult/one kid meal or 2 adult meals??? You don't have to order for every person in your party at the same time, right?

You are also saying that now TS credits are on the ticket as Adult/Child?? That's fine, but good to know. Last year was sort of confusing trying to keep up since we shared some and would forget when we used kid's meals and not, you know? Actually that'll help alot this year. Pita last time keeping track.

Just to clarify, the bottom of the ticket will read

XX Adult TS
XX Child TS
XX CS

How do you keep track of Child/Adult CS? The reason I ask this is we usually share CS for lunch and use the other 1/2 for breakfast. Much easier and we never eat that much food, you know?

They use to have it opened up more...where the credits weren't actually seperated...it just said how many people in your party and how many credtis you had...it didn't come up as "X" amount of adult credits and "X" amount of child credits. Your card will show how many adults/kids are booked...but you use to be able to have the adults walk up to the counter services and order adult meal even for the kids (I believe you had to have each adult order how ever many adult meals they were trying to get...because even if one adult went up and tryed to order 4 adult meals but your KTTW card showed you had 2a/2k....it wouldn't work.) Anywho...they've really cracked down on those trying to get more out of the plan by having the kids and adult credits seperate..so now if you have 10 adult credits...and 10 kids credits...if you go off and use up your 10 adult credits in a couple days by ordering adult meals for the kids...you'll end up with kid credits after that to "share".

I think now that they've revamped the kids menus (within the past year) I think people are trying more and more to order off the adult menu for the kids...simpley because the choices SUCK for the most part.

I guess it never hurts to ask...at the CS places if you can order something else.

Oh ok, that makes sense, they are wanting you to order with what it says is in your party. So if we have 3 adults/1 child on ddp, then I should be able to order 2 adult meals or 1 adult/1 child without problems. As long as I wasnt' trying to do 4 adult meals.

Now I thought the previous poster stated that the TS are seperated now, but not the CS. That was what I was confused about  Or are they both seperated now on the receipts?

Only the TS is separated on the receipts. The rules, however, apply to both:

Yep, the TS meals are separated, but CS are not. The rules of the DDP are clear that kids can't use their credits to order from the adult menu, but Disney leaves keeping track entirely up to the guests. Right now, the only thing they are doing to enforce the rules is to prevent you from order more than the number of meals than the guests that are on your card. 2A on the card, then the max # of adult CS you can order at one time is 2.

If you don't use your family's full allotment of CS credits at a single meal, you might just keep a small piece of paper with your card so you can keep a running tally each time you use an adult or a child's meal. Because it won't show on your receipt.

So Disney expects the customer to keep track of how many of each CS credit (adult & child) that we use?

In March our totals were printed on our receipts. It listed how many TS, CS and snack credits we had left....

Our experience is March was that every child TS, adult TS, CS, and snack had to be a separate transaction.

We would get one receipt showing how many child TS were left if we used a child TS, and a different receipt showing how many adult TS were left for one TS meal for the family. No matter if they rang up a child's CS or adult CS, we would always get one receipt showing total CS left. It was a lot of paper, but very clear, sort of, because if we were buying a snack with our CS, like fries to go with our combo at Casey's, we would get two different receipts. One for the CS part of the transaction, and one for the snack part. It was like that everywhere for us. We never had one receipt that listed everything we still had on DDP.

Not totally. They do keep track in the computers and you can ask to have them checked anytime (I'd guess). BUT it is a good idea to keep a tally or track becasuse mistakes are made and sometimes 'extra' credits have been used when there're not suppose to be used.:confused3

OK, now I'm a little nervous - and confused!!- about DDP! LOL.....

We will be doing it for the first time in Aug. (Free dining!) SO....am I understanding this correctly??? For our CS daily credit, my DD8 needs to order from the children's menu at most places. (That's fine with us. That's what she usually gets anyway.)

When it is our turn to pay, do we just say we're on the plan and they swipe our card? I just need to make sure they only take off one credit each time? And, last question, I promise......I get one TS and one CS and one snack each night of our stay, but dessert is also included in the CS and TS? Thanks.....

I think you've got it.

You each get 1 CS, 1 TS and 1 Snack credit each day (night) your there. So if your booked for 8 nights you'll each get 8 credits of each.

And YES at CS and TS you get a dessert included as well as your 8 yo will have to order off the child menu if there is one. That's at both CS and TS places.

The credits will be on your KTTW card...and you'll just give them your card for them to swipe. Most offten on the TS meals the servers will as you before you even order. If they don't just tell them when your placing your order that your on the DDP. Also if your planning on paying for some things OOP and using the credits for other things make sure you tell them as your ordering.

Oh..you also don't "HAVE" to keep track of your credits but it's a good idea to. They have been known to make mistakes and use additonal credits.

I was also going to say...this next time we go to the world with the DDP I'm going to make sure I ask or tell the servers that 'Were on the DDP and would like to know if anything we order isn't included and if they have any suggestions. I know sometimes the servers will make sure you get the "most" out of your plan because that means more tip for them. Anyways they'll sometimes tell you about add on available (like shrimp or what not)...I figure by just asking upfront it would/could be benificial. PLUS I want to make sure I know and am aware if anything isn't included that I'd need to pay out of pocket for.

Thanks, Scrapperjill.....when DD8 orders a CS lunch, for example, is it the same as what we were just buying her this last trip, for example, mac and cheese, 2 sides - grapes and applesauce - and a little milk. Does hers include a dessert now too, in addition, on the DP???
