Dining plan counter sevice for children

Thank you....this thread has gotten me a little confused.....LOL......

So I can get my dessert, say a cookie, and let DD8 eat it later on, right?

Thank you again. You guys have been so helpful. I don't know why I'm sweating this dining plan thing. I like being prepared, so I guess I just want to know what to expect. Now it's onto making the ressies....the part of the trip that DH just LOVES......I'm just kidding again....he just "yesses" me to death, but I still feel like he's getting some input. How bad is that?? Anyone else out there like that? He likes to do park planning, but as for dining, he leaves the ball in my court. (That can be good, and bad!)
By the way.......here is a VERY helpful link if it's not been already posted

Does anyone know if it's okay (within the rules) to switch meals after ordering? Say my 10 year old who has to order an adult CS meal wants to switch with my 8 year old who orders a kid's CS meal. Can they switch meals after we are done ordering and sitting down to eat? Also at TS meals. Can they switch meals after getting them? I guess I want to know if it's okay if a child eats an adult meal while the adult eats the child meal or vice versa. I hope this isn't confusing. At some places we had planned to do this, but after reading all these post, I don't want to break any rules. :)

I am missing something I think. Last year when we went, for CS one of us would just walk up and order and the other would go sit with the kids and wait. We usually shared 2 meals. So how does it work if you only want one adult/one kid meal or 2 adult meals??? You don't have to order for every person in your party at the same time, right?

You are also saying that now TS credits are on the ticket as Adult/Child?? That's fine, but good to know. Last year was sort of confusing trying to keep up since we shared some and would forget when we used kid's meals and not, you know? Actually that'll help alot this year. Pita last time keeping track.

Just to clarify, the bottom of the ticket will read

XX Adult TS
XX Child TS
XX CS

How do you keep track of Child/Adult CS? The reason I ask this is we usually share CS for lunch and use the other 1/2 for breakfast. Much easier and we never eat that much food, you know?
Okay I understand that TS are seperated but if the cs just has 1 number do you have to keep track yourself? Say2 or 3 days we order 3 adult cs meals leaving us with a balance for that day of 1 adult & 1 child ( yes I know they are not counted on a daily basis) at the end We would have 4 or 6 adult cs and 2 or 3 kids for atotalof6 or 9 cs credits If I hadn't kept trackwould it stop me from ordering all adult meals? I'm not trying to cheat just curious if I have to keep close tabs?

I wouldn't worry about keeping track. It's just a matter of not deliberately abusing the plan (such as by just ordering adult meals with your CS credits). As long as you're not doing that you will likely not hit any snags.

When we were there in January but DS12 and DS9 switched a couple of meals or desserts. It's not cheating so it's okay! They do that a lot when we go out to eat! We still pay for each of the meals!

Usually, it would say on the bottom of our receipt how many snacks or meals we had left. You can always get a print out from the hotel where you are staying at the end of each day if you want to know exactly what has been used and what is left. Lots of people may split a CS meal and that makes the credits last a little longer. We found some of the portions at Cosmic Rays to be quite large.

However, Disney does not track the CS meals the same way the TS meals are separated.
Yet :teeth:

On your whether or not you accused Always on Vacation? You really don't think you did? Really? You told Always on Vacation that her plan was a violation of the rules. I'd call that an accusation
I'd call it a statement. bicker didn't say "you are violating the rules"; he said her plan is a violation of the rules.

You tend to be rather "black and white" on the rules, Bicker
But that's what rules ARE. They're not suggestions, open for interpretation or for someone to pick the ones they like and follow those while ignoring the rules they don't like.

An extreme example would be a parent traveling with three children, ages 5, 6, and 8. THAT person attempting to purchase four Adult Counter Service meals would likely not be permitted to (except at places like Pizza Planet that don't have kids' menus).

Bicker, I have asked this on other threads and don't really get an answer. So, here it goes again. We are 2A and 1C on DDP. DD5 and I will be away from DH alot of the time as he has a conference. If DD and I go to a CS without a kid's menu, I will order 2 adult meals. DH will be getting his meal at another area and using 1 more adult credit. I am intentionally going to cs that have pizza (like Toy Story PP ) for DD5 because that is mostly what she likes to eat on vacation and she'll be eating other things at the TS meals. So with that being said, we will be using most of our credits at places that do not offer kid's meals. I understand the rules to say if a kid's meal is not available, I can order from the adult menu for her. Will this come back to bite us? Will we be breaking into the adult CS credits, run out of adult credits and be stuck with 7 child's CS credits?

If you order a meal for a child at a eatery that does not have a child menu, then the meal for the child you can safely consider as a child meal. So you and your DD would get the same thing, and yours would be an adult meal, and hers would be a child meal. It is the magic of Disney. :wizard:

I think this may be part of the reason for not separating the counter service credits yet...there are several places where there is no kids menu. So not only would they have to make the change in the program making it total up the adult credits verses the child credits, but they would also have to revamp the menus (or the specific restaurants way of ringing into the computer instead of a pizza or a combo there would now have to be the added kids pizza) for the cs restaurants that dont have a kid menu... it took them 2 years to make the table service change and it isn't nearly as difficult an issue to fix and is a more costly abuse, so it was tackled first. Who knows if they will bother with counter service.

So anyway there isn't anyway for it to come back to bite you with the current system. Since there is no diferentiation of kids/adults, there is no way for them to say you only have kid credits left.

Thanks I just am not sure with all the excitement I will keep really good trackof cs meals adult vs child . Like I said not planning on cheating, I actually think it would be better if they did seperate them!!

There's no such thing as child's CS credits. There's only child's CS meals. IF you go to a counter service location with a children's menu and order meals for your children- you should order children's meals. If you go to a counter service location with no children's menu, you should order meals for your children. At both locations, you'll be "charged" a CS credit.

Thanks!! I have never thought about the DDP like I have after reading all these questions. I just always order and give my card. Although this year one of my kids goes from child status to adult so that changes things a little bit.

Thank you so much for this discussion:thumbsup2 I really understand how it works and am happy that my kids or my MIL and I can share a CS meal without feeling weird :goodvibes

Absolutely on-target.

Sometimes I think that thinking too much about it is worse than not thinking about it enough. ;)

Thank you everyone! That's exactly the point I was trying to make. It doesn't matter who eats what or when they eat it. If there's 3 adults & 1 child you're entitled to 3 adult & 1 child cs for each day on the plan.:dance3: :grouphug: :hippie:
