I thought I've read that if one family has the dining plan and another family does not that you can use your credits to pay for both families. Is this true? I wanted to confirm it as we're going soon and I'll have the family with the dining plan credits. I don't mind sharing if we have extra.

Yep. They're your credits and you can spend them as you choose. You can buy dinner for friends or even strangers. Someone reported that another guest with unused credits just bought her meal the other day.

Thank you so much!!!!

How does this work between adults and kids? If we have 1 adult and 3 kids going, but want to share our credits with a group that has 4 Disney adults, will that make a difference. I know that QS doesn't differentiate between adults and kids, but what about on the deluxe plan using TS credits? I would like to use some of our credits to buy a few meals for the other group that's going with us, but I don't want a surprise at the end of the trip by not having enough adult credits.

On the deluxe plan the credits are all pooled. They are no adult or child credits. We were able to use our credits to cover other Disney adults even though there were two children on our dining plan.
