Dining Plan Changes...DISNEY DID LISTEN!

While this does sound too good to be true, who knows?!! I can remember several times when rumors started circulating and the CM's would say call back on such and such day, and the rumors ended up being true. Don't get your hopes up, but it could be Disney's way of dealing with the economy and gas prices.

I have never seen so many people logged on to the same thread at the same time. Lot of people holding out hope?

Don't believe the times posted-they've been messed up all day. My reply earlier to mskayjay's post about being on the phone w/a manager posted in front of hers. I've posted replies to new threads today and my reply has become the first post-What is going on? I'm sure this post will post above CanadianGuy's post, but do you know what's happening?

I'm posting this at 7:15 p.m. pst and I won't eddited it-then you can check out the time it says it posted v.s. the actual time.

And, how about khkymanager's post-she said she confirmed it as well but she only has 1 post. Suspicious, yes, but I'm still holding out hope!

Most important thing is we know now for sure, OP was lying. I will not put up the CM and manager names here but I have every confidence in what they told me. It makes me SICK that someone has nothing better to do with his/her time than to try to cause this kind of grief to families and WDW. How cruel when you have families literally saving pennies to afford a trip to see this, get their hopes up and then have them dashed. What an absolute jerk!!!!!

I couldn't have said it better! I was so excited when I read the first post I even did a little dance for my DM and DD. Now I feel like an idiot!

It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Gas prices are rising as are food prices. Disney's margins are disappearing. Corporations are budget tightening. And Disney is going to do something that will increase the COSTS of the program without increasing its PRICE to offset it? Why would they do that?

I'm a CM at one of the Epcot Center restaraunts, however, I'm not allowed to say which one at fear of being fired.

Interesting that you first reveal this "big news" anonymously for fear of losing your job, but then offer this:

PM me for the direct number to call my manager

Guess you're not all that worried about losing your job if you're willing to let everyone on this board PM you for your manager's number. Wouldn't be much of a secret anymore, now would it????

I noticed that about the times when I posted...I had just read all the posts on this thread and when I posted mine it put it in front of several that were already on here ...this is being posted at 9:22

Well just post the number, so we can all call your manager and tell them that "they hired an idiot" LOL!

(Either way the inital post was that of an idiot. "I am afraid of losing my job but I am too dumb to keep my mouth shut"?????)

:sad1:

I came here in good faith trying to give you guys a little advance notice. I was pretty excited about it myself, since there are a signifigant number of guests on the dining plan that still think the gratuity is included.

Changes to things mid-year can and do happen. Please note - Pleasure Island is closing September 27th.. not year end as many had speculated.
I'm butting in here as a CPA; it is logical for September 27th to be the last day for PI as we know it.

The Walt Disney Company works on what is known as a 52/53 Week Fiscal Year (which is acceptable under both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as The Internal Revenue Code). The WDC Fiscal Year always starts on a Sunday (using the 52/53 model) and since September 27th is a Saturday, that will be the end of the 2008 Fiscal Year.

Wal Mart, bottom line IF somehow your info turns out to be true, I will be FIRST in line to apologize to you but for now based on the info I have from VERY RELIABLE SOURCES you are a liar. If an apology is EVER needed I'll PM you and post a public apology on these boards. In the meantime, please just drop the pretense. The charade is over.

As a complete side-note...

There is a post on another community forum on the internet indicating a pretty hefty price increase in the dining plan for 2009.

Think : 50$ per day for an adult for the basic dining plan and almost 90$ per adult for the deluxe plan.

If true.. that could be indicative of the costs involved in the kind of changes being advocated here.

Until we receive official word from Disney on changes to the DDP, this notice of change is speculation

With that., rather than debate it here, the Restaurant Mods have agreed to lock this thread.
