HELP!!! We have reservations for Animal Kingdom Lodge using our DVC points. But we were told today ( after being on hold for 40min.) that DVC members can not book the DDP for non-vacation club reservations. I can not find anything anywhere that says this is true. We used the DDP last Aug. with our stay at Boardwalk and loved it. For a stay elsewhere on property it makes even more sense to book the dining plan, but  : they won't let us!!!!
Does anyone know?

That is correct. You can not get the dining plan if staying on points at a regular Disney (non-DVC) resort. Remember that the DDP was originally designed as part of a package, requiring room reservation and ticket purchase through CRO, and CRO still controls the rules of the plan for non-DVC resorts. It took over a year for DVC to reach an agreement with CRO to be able to use the plan at DVC resorts with point reservations.

That's correct, for points reservations you can only get DDP at DVC resorts. For the first 15 months of DDP (1/05 to 3/06), DVC members could not book DDP for points reservations anywhere. When they finally starting offering it, it was only at DVC resorts. If you want it elsewhere, you have to book a package through CRO (cash, not points).

From the DVC member website:

Disney Dining Plan Now Available to Members
Members can now enjoy the Disney Dining Plan when staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World® Resort (this excludes Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort). Important Note: The Disney Dining Plan must be booked in advance of arrival and must be purchased for your entire travel party (ages 3 and over) for your entire length of stay. Call Member Services to add it to your reservation or to make a new reservation today.

Annual passholders, using the AP discount for cash rooms can not add the plan, either.

But there is a good plan out there for you IF you are an Annual Passholder. You can purchase the Dining Experience card for $60, i will give you a 20% discount at virtually all Disney operated table service and buffet restaurants, as well as lounges. The discount also applie to "adult" beverages.

I agree the DDE card is great.

princess: thank you all for your help. We leave in a week, so we'll have to cancel some of our dining reservations. Maybe next trip princess:
