Hey guys,
Can I use the DP for our dinner for PS into the Candelight Procession?
Thanks!

In the past, this was permitted. All the restaurants offered with the Candlelight Processional package are 1-credit TS restaurants.

It may be necessary to hold the reservation with a credit card - this is usually done with package reservations. You'd be charged a no-show fee if you didn't appear for the meal or cancel within the designated time.

With the basic plan you could do a CP dinner package last year. Last year you could get an appetizer with the basic plan and this year it's a no. The CP dinner packages come with appetizer; so, there's a conflict right there.

CP packages go on sale around July 1 historically. I have called Disney dining and to date noone has an answer as to whether or not it will be included this year with any dining plan. Historically, it was a 1 credit deal no matter what tier restaurant. Disney dining said there might be an answer by mid June about this year and the CP.

On one side I think they have always included it so why change it this year. On the other side this appetizer thing has me worried. Maybe, there will be a compromise with no appetizer but you can get the CP package with the plan.

sorry for a newbie question, but what is Candlelight Procession?

were a celebrity speaker will retell the Christmas story while a choir consisting of Disney cast member singers and guest H.S. choirs sing Christmas songs in between each excerpt read. The guest choirs come walking on stage as a processional using candlelight. There's also a full orchestra. There's even someone signing for the show.

Anyway, this takes place in the American Garden Center in Epcot's World Showcase near the American Adventure Pavillion. There are three shows a night:5:00, 6:45 and 8:15 pm.

You can buy a dinner package that allows you reserved seating for a CP show. You have this package reserved with a credit card on hold. If you don't cancel in time (I think you have a 24 hour window) you get charged anyway. This is a very popular show and this is the policy for no shows.

All the other years the dining plan included the show as a 1 credit table service, if you want to use it for this event. Once you show up to dinner and use a credit from your dining plan your credit card will not be charged. You get a special show card which is your pass for the resrved seating at the show at dinner. The reserved seating line forms on the Japan side of the American Pavillon. You still need to stand in line early to get the best seats even if you have reserved seating. In the past it has been difficult to get into the show without a reserved seating pass. Most figure you have to eat anyway; so, buy the dinner package and get the reserved seating.

There are three tiers of dining packages to incorporate the cheaper eating places from the more expensive ones. The dining plan in the past has allowed you to do the most expensive tier for eating for the dinner package. This year there has been some changes to the dining plan and there's uncertainty as to whether or not Disney will include the CP dining package this year or change the rules on it and perhaps not allow it or make different conditions for it. These dinner packages typically go on sale in early July. For some of us, our 180 day mark for making reservations for dinner will come before this time. When you want the better places for the dining plan and you are not sure about Disney's policy this year, it gets a little complicated for those who plan it.

Thanks Bete for the details about CP. So it's only available during Xmas season I guess? I will only be there during Aug-Sep Free Dining plan.
