Dining package without park tickets?

I'm in the beginning stages of planning a 2017 trip for my DD's 8th grade graduation. The last time we went "home" was in 2014, we stayed at WL, were on the dining plan and our park tickets were provided for us by a family friend.

I was wondering if it's still possible to purchase the dining plan without purchasing park tickets?

Yes. It's called a ticketless package and you have to call to make the reservation.

Is that new? Haven't done DD in years but in the past you had to always have at least 1 ticket associated with it!

It's been around for a while, but it isn't really advertised anywhere. I learned about here on the DIS.

You absolutely have to call, though. Can't do it online.
