Dining outside the World

Hi:
We are headed down tomorrow and I have a dining question. There is myself, DH & 2 DS in their 20's. Every year we say we are going to go out of the world a couple of times to eat (we have a car) but once there we get too lazy to go. Anyone have any suggestions where to eat to get us motivated?

My families favorite restaurants outside of WDW is the Bonefish Grill. Now they have several locations in Orlando and the ones we have been to are located at the following areas.

7830 West Sand Lake Road, Orlando , FL

3279 Daniels Road, Winter Garden, FL

2699 W. Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, FL

We also like to eat at Sweet Tomatoes and the closest one to WDW is located in the Crossroads Plaza on 535 at 12561 S.Apopka-Vineland Road.

If your feeling really adventurous you can head over to Universal City walk, Hard Rock Cafe is great, NBA City believe it or not has awesome food and Margaritaville is a blast. Down International drive there's a ton, Pointe Orlando has BB Kings and Hooter. Lots of stuff around so go out explore and have some fun.

Rusty, thank you. I am SO saving your list in my notes file for our non-Disney Orlando trip. Every time I've asked this question, on the DIS and elsewhere, I've gotten a lot of recommendations for chain restaurants but very few suggestions of unique or local places. Since we're not interested in visting restaurants on vacation that we can find at home, your list is much more in line with the kinds of places we'd be looking for.

If you like a wonderful breakfast, go to the Solaris Restaurant in the World Center Marriott. The have a Breakfast Buffet for $21.95 that is about 70 feet long. They have omlets and pancakes to order, about a dozen varieties of fresh fruit, smoked salmon, parma ham, assorted cheeses and meats, etc. Cereals, yogurts, about 15 kinds of pastry, and more. As well as bacon, three tyoes of sausage, etc. Weekdays they serve to about 10:00am and on weekends, they don't break the buffet until about 11:30.

Hands down a favorite for many because of the good food and great prices is the Ale House. There's a new one out by Orange Lake Resort. Husband went Disney golfing with buddies for a week in November and they ate almost every meal there. Try it. I agree, too, Bonefish Grill is awesome but you can't beat the prices and the variety at the Ale House.

As a local...BOTH of those are favorites....Just went to the Ale house a few weeks ago...GREAT food, AWESOME service!

The Ale house has the best Chicken Nachos hands down . They bring them out in this huge platter dish thats enough for 4-5 people and by the time your done there isnt any room left for dinner lol. They have locations all over down here in South Florida also.

There is a fairly new one on 192 at 429 - just across from Target - its in the Publix shopping center.

i think that miller's ale house is better than gator's dockside, in that genre of florida tinted pub grub. The price and selection ratio really is great, especially after a few days at wdw.

Haven't been to Bergamo's in years... not since it was in the Mercado! We keep saying we're going to go back, now I feel like I have to!

I've had great meals at Emeril's (Universal) and Roy's. The recommendations of Seasons 52 and Bonefish are good, too. More often than not, I tend to dine on property even if I am not on a DP. It's just easier. Through trial and error (plenty of error!!) I've found enough WDW restaurants to satisfy my big-city-dining-snob nature.

We are going to do Emerils this coming April trip. And also have enjoyed Margaritaville and Hard Rock.

We just got a Bonefish in our area here, so we will try it here first.
