Dining Options for OKW stay?

I arrive on a Friday night for a stay at OKW. I probably won't get to the resort much before 6:30PM. I haven't seen many positive things about Olivia's Cafe. The alternative looks like Downtown Disney restaurants--seems to be the closest. What's the fastest way to get there from OKW? I'm using Magical Express so won't have a car. Is bus service quick? I heard you can walk, but I think the trail isn't lit at night. Did I read that you can go by boat? Also, any recommendations for dinner at Downtown Disney? I usually don't go there on my trips and haven't been there for many years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU in advance!!!

Funny, I was going to recommend Olivia's. We were there back in April and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

There is a boat that runs from OKW to DTD and also bus service.

Actually, Olivia's is a hidden gem of a restaurant! But you can also go to Disney Springs (trying to get in the habit of calling DTD by its new name) and have dinner at Raglan Road.

Agree...we love Olivia's.
The boat to Downtown is a lot of fun too

i don't know what reviews about olivias you have read but i go out of my way to have dinner and sometimes lunch their a t least once a trip even if I am not staying there. i love the relaxed atmosphere and while I always make an ADR I have went without one and was seated quickly.

I enjoy Olivia's for breakfast, also. It is a calm and peaceful way to start the day. And I think it is a bargain for a Disney TS restaurant!

Well, well, well---glad I asked. I think after all of these positive reviews, I'll have to give it a try--it will certainly be more convenient. As for where I found the less than stellar reviews--there are so many sites out there with Disney reviews of all kinds and I've been to them all. I just haven't seen any great comments. Obviously, I haven't asked the right people--here on my favorite site. THANKS everyone for letting me know. I'll let you know what I think after I've tried it first hand in a couple of months.

We had lunch last year at Olivia's and loved it. We planned on spending the day at the pool, but it rained. We relaxed at the resort and popped into Olivia's around 2. We all enjoyed our meals.

Another  for Olivias. The Cobb Salad is excellent. I love the fact that you can eat light or full meal and it's all excellent. We'll be eating breakfast and dinner there, even with free dining we chose to!

Our Ratings of Olivia's: (*rev 4/8/2015*)

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Sunrise Platter (bfast), Conch Fritters (lunch/dinner)
. . . entree:.. Seafood Omelet (bfast), Pulled Pork Sandwich (lunch/dinner)
. . . dessert:. Key Lime Tart (lunch/dinner)
.
NOTE: It is somewhat inconvenient to drive or take a bus to OKW. The food uniqueness
used to be lovely, but DDP has forced the eatery to slip greatly from the unique to ordinary.
Although pleasant in the surroundings department, food is usually above average for lunch
and dinner, but breakfast is really good and reasonably priced. Try the Seafood Omelet, truly
yummy. The Duval Street Burger is decent. Arguably the best pulled pork sandwich on the
WDW property. The club sandwich always is tasty. Chowder was too spicy for our "chowder
purist" taste. However, they have THE BEST key lime tart on the property. The lunch and
diner are basically the same, except for minor dinner entrée differences. Between Trail's End
at Fort Wilderness and Olivia's at Old Key West, tough to determine which is the Best Kept
Secret at WDW.

We liked Olivia's - especially as a first night dinner! You may not be up for all the extra travel, although the boat ride to DTD is great!

I'm with darkwing818!! Have eaten there many times and never had a bad meal. We love it!

Since you're taking DME, I'm assuming you're flying. On check-in day, since we don't trust airplanes arriving on time, we never eat TS. If/when we arrive, we just grab QS-for you, Good's to Go or something from the gift shop that can be reheated in your villa.

Another positive vote for Olivia's! We drove our rental car over to OKW to try it for dinner on a previous trip, and we were very happy with our meal.
On our upcoming December trip, we are staying at OKW and have booked Olivia's for dinner on our first day (we arrive early morning, so no worries about missing an ADR due to travel delays).
