Dining dress policy question!

I'm pretty sure that if you walk in to a room full of people dressed appropriately and you are wearing pajamas, you are somewhat misinformed on who the "bad egg" is. I am curious, is there a specific reason you are determined to eat a 3 course dinner in your pajamas? Is it really that much of a thrill for you?

Sir, I may wear pj pants with Disney characters on them, but at least I'm not a rude person who is unnecessarily mean to others.

I won't be responding anymore to this thread. Thanks to those who answered my question like a decent person.

I think the bottom line is no one knows for sure what will happen as no one here is wandering around the ship in their pajamas. Based on my reading of the dress code, I would join the others who strongly suspect you will be turned away from the MDRs.

I often wear yoga pants when running around the ship during the day, but I change into actual clothes for dinner.

I'll add to the no one knows for sure but since you are an adult who is above college age (by your own saying) I would be prepared to be turned away. Heck I don't even see little kids in their PJs at the dinning rotations. The shows sure but dinner nope never seen it.

Also having been on the boards for a very long time I can assure you no one was really rude here. If you think this is rude then you may have a hard time here. People simply disagree and said it was not an appropriate choice.

I'll have to agree with the majority here. Pajama pants are not appropriate in the MDRs. While it isn't specifically listed as a prohibition, I wouldn't be surprised if you were turned away. It wasn't that long ago that shorts were prohibited in the MDR. Disney relaxed that rule, and I really hope this doesn't turn into a case of they gave an inch and now guests take a mile. I really don't see how a "cruise casual" dress code could be interpreted to allow pajama pants.

OP, I see where you said you wouldn't read more on here but in case you do anyway, let me add the following comment as a way of explaining how this thread quickly evolved into something that bothered you. I truly am sorry if you felt we ganged up on you, though I doubt that was the intention of anyone here. First, based on your post count, you likely don't know that dress codes--especially at dining establishments--is one of THE biggest flashpoint topics on all the DIS. Some of the nastiest verbal "fights" I've seen on the DIS has been because of a dress code-related topic. So, you were walking into a buzz saw and didn't know it. Second, the casual tone of the original post had a few of us thinking this might be a "troll," someone who was merely attempting to stir up the dress code topic all over again in a different way (and to be honest, I'm still not convinced lol). Third, while the tone of a couple of responses might have seemed a bit harsh (keep in mind points 1 and 2 above), a couple of your own responses might have seemed equally insulting: calling someone a "bad egg" based on one post seems a bit severe and an overreaction, and the admitted notion that you had already decided what you planned to do unless it was against the rules came across as flippant.

As a form of social media, yes, the DIS can be an unfriendly place sometimes, and certainly there are those who relish using childish retorts. However, in this case, I simply think you unknowingly touched a raw nerve (or sensibility) or two. No harm was truly intended, and if I was one of those who you felt slighted you, I apologize. I do hope you have a wonderful cruise and can find places to roam around in your PJs. :thumbsup2

It might be okay in the buffet, but I would say no for the main dining rooms. Think about it this way - would you go to a fancy dinner in pajamas? Any place in town that's more upscale would turn you away, so I would expect them to do the same on the cruise ships. Besides, it's easy enough to take a cute sundress, throw on a sweater or shawl over it, and still be super comfortable.

I often wear yoga pants when running around the ship during the day, but I change into actual clothes for dinner.

This is what we did - although I did wear a pair of Mickey print leggings under a dress one night for dinner :)

I just have a quick question. I know that if you go to Remy or Palo then there is a strict dress code, but for regular rotational dining would it be okay to go in pajamas? And by that I mean a shirt and then pajama pants? (Nothing skimpy or spaghetti straps).

Thanks!
Keep in mind you are not dining at home. You will be dining with a lot of people that will NOT be wearing PJ bottoms unless they are 3.

This!!

Kids maybe, adults I could see them turning away. I often get judged for my Hot Topis shirts and doc boots (yes I know some very judgemental people), so i do not judge but I would think there is a high chance they will not allow this. Plus I have read way worse about dress code on these boards.

I was being serious. I'm fairly new here but so far I have enjoyed my time posting here. I think from now on I'll stay in another section. I certainly won't be back to this one.

I'm a bit shocked by the rude and judgmental responses, even though I shouldn't be. It is an internet message board after all :)

I think I got the answer I wanted. I'm not sure if I can request that a mod close the thread, but it's fine by me.

And if any of you do see me in my pjs on the cruise, feel free to stop by and say hi :)

Since the OP is ok with this thread being locked, I will do so, to prevent it from getting out of hand.
