Who: Kenneth (DH), Buddy (17 yo.), Kenny (12 yo.), Molly & me
When: Wed. July, 14th
Where: US & Pastamore
This was check-out day, so this will be my last report. Thanks for putting up with my long posts.
While I was packing up, the guys went to US for one last ride on The Mummy & MIB. All loaded up and ready to go, DH & I left the boys and Molly in the RV, in the a/c, playing PS2, while we went over to Pastamore to pick up food for Ormond Beach.
What we ordered:
2) Classic lasagna w/ caesar side salad (2 @ $9.98) $19.96
2) Penne pasta w/ alfredo sauce & caesar side salad (2 @ $9.98) $19.96
Both were good. They came w/ bread and were enough to share.
2) Whole pepperoni pizzas (2 @ $15.99) $31.98
This pizza wasn't as good as the one at The Kitchen, but you definitely got more for the money. The boys had no problem finishing a whole pizza, before we go to the beach. They must have thought it was pretty good.
1) Caesar side salad $2.99
Kenny ate all 3 of these, and said it had the best salad dressing he'd ever eaten. This coming from a salad lover, who's had more than his fair share.
2) Soft drinks (2 @ $1.99) $3.98
Sub total: $94.83
Tax: $6.17
Total: $101.00
We had 2) $50 Clr. Chnl. GC's, which DH mentioned to the guy before ordering. He had no problem with us using both, and even kept a running tab to help DH get as close as possible to the $100. He even tried to get him to order a 3rd soft drink, instead of the extra salad, so he could get within $1 but not so over. We didn't need the extra drink, so DH opted for the salad. They even allowed us to pay the tax with the GC's. We ended owing them $1, after using the GC's. With all this food to carry, we were a little concerned about how we would get it back to the RV. No worries there either. When the last pizza came out, the guy brought it to us and offered us a box to put it all in. DH offered him a tip for being so helpful, but he said they weren't allowed to accept them. Him working so hard to help us without expecting a good tip at the end, was certainly refreshing. It just proves that there's still alot of good people out there.
Final thoughts on this trip:
We had a fantastic trip. We're not used to being given anything, which made this trip even more special. The Clr. Chnl. GC's were a great deal, and we had no trouble using them. Because of them, we ate at restaurants that we probably wouldn't have otherwise, and will try again. I had made tentative dining plans, prior to finding out about the GC's. We didn't end up eating at any of the places that I had originally planned on. We will now add LQ & Motown to our short list. Pat O's will now be a must do every trip. We now know to go to Pastamore for a good, inexpensive breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the GC's may have spoiled us. We've discussed how difficult it's going to pay full price at theme park restaurant now.
This was Universal "Mystique" at it's finest. Yes, we had a few nitpicky things go wrong, but I can honestly say that this was the 1st theme park vacation, not including day trips, the we didn't have one real complaint. This was by far our most "Mystical" theme park vacation ever.
