Dining and watching Illuminations

Hi - are there any World Showcase restaurants that have views of Illuminations? Looking at the map it looks like La Cantina or La Hacienda de San Angel might.

Or do any of you have traditions of getting dinner from counter service and finding a place to watch illuminations? We have lunch ADR at 1 so I am thinking we may be able to wait until 8 or later for dinner. Maybe??

You can't book a guaranteed view of illuminations, save via the dessert party. Some tables at some restaurants have views. Everyone wants those tables, and they cannot let people wait for them. If watching Illuminations is the goal, eat earlier and find a place to watch.

La CAntina de San Angel in Mexico is a CS that has patio side dining areas. People stake those tables out 90 or more minutes prior to Illuminations. If you wanted to eat and watch you will have to eat way earlier than 8 and then just sit, while others are circulating with hot food and wanting your table. The patio next to Rose & Crown has some view, but it is the same scene as at La Cantina.
I agree the best plan is to eat earlier, than find a lagoon spot to watch Illuminations.

I had read that Spice Road Table had a good view of Illuminations. I have a reservation for 7:45 and am hoping to stay for the show.

We got lucky and got a table at La Cantina one night about 30 minutes before Illuminations. We snacked on nachos and margaritas! It is a great place to see the show.

We have also had reservations at Rose and Crown during Illuminations. They let us out on the patio to watch the show and then we went back to our table.

Depending on the crowd level you may want to stake out a spot and grab a snack to go and just enjoy some down time waiting for the show!

We lucked out during our trip last month and scored a window table at La Hacienda that had an awesome view of the fireworks (we could see the Star Wars ones in the distance at HS, and then of course IllumiNations). This was just luck, though. Our ADR was for 7:00 p.m. and IllumiNations started at 9:00 p.m. but we had a bit of a wait for our table and then for the food, so the timing worked out perfectly!
