I'm thinking about doing the dining plan. Here are some of the places we picked. I'm not sure if these are all counted on the plan. I'm confused on some infoabout how many TS and CS certain places are. I also list some places twice but will try to pick one so i can experience other places. Would love to know what ya'll think. I'm not into the fancy foods. It will be me ,Dh and dd(9)
Would love some input especially which charcater meals are must do's and which are skip. DD is shy and we arent a singing dancing family so hoop de doo show wont do. Thanks

Bless your heart for the helping me with the correct info.
Is coral reef still 1 TS if its for dinner? I thought some of the nicer places were 2 TS. What about the places for ressie to see the shows like fantasmic and lummin? I cant think of the names- are those worth it?

That's a LOT of TS meals -- are you on the deluxe plan? If you are doing the regular DDP, then you get one TS, one CS, and one snack per person per night of your stay.

If you are doing more than one TS in a day, you might want to do one for breakfast, then one for dinner, with a very light lunch. If you do a late breakfast, you could just consider it a brunch, and make do with a snack in the afternoon to tide you over until dinner.

If I was taking a 9 year old girl for character meals, I'd probably do

Akershus Storybook Breakfast - Epcot - (they serve lunch and dinner too, but the menu is Norwegian-themed, and not everyone is wild about it -- if you wanted lunch or dinner, look at the menu carefully to see if it appeals to you. Other folks like it a lot. But breakfast is traditional American-style breakfast food, quite good, and the princesses are great).

1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian
Breakfast is Mary Poppins and Friends (Alice, Mad Hatter, Tigger, etc.)
Dinner is Cinderella and Friends (Prince Charming, Stepmother and Stepsisters)
Both would be fun for a young lady, and very different characters.

Crystal Palace - MK
Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner -- Winnie the Pooh characters. Lots of people like this one, too, and the restaurant is very pretty.

Haven't been to Chef Mickey's, but I hear it's really popular...also loud and busy!

As for other meals, the way we plan our ADR's is to figure out what park we will be in that day -- or if we hop, then what two parks -- usually based on EMH early or late, or if there is a special show only on certain days -- like the Spectromagic Parade at MK. Then I make our ADR's according to that, picking a TS and CS that are at or near that park. For example:

Epcot Day:
Lunch at Tangierine (CS)
Dinner at Chef's de France (TS)

or

Breakfast at Akershus (TS)
Snack around lunch time
Dinner at Sunshine Seasons (CS)

AK Day:
Snack credit for breakfast (for pastry or fruit and OOP for coffee)
Lunch at Tusker House (TS)
Dinner at Flame Tree (CS)

MK Day:
Breakfast at 1900 PF (TS, at the Grand Floridian)
Snack around lunch time
Dinner at Cosmic Rays (CS)

Something like that...make sense?

Thanks for the suggestions. We plan on going for 8 nights. The list are my thoughts on what caught my attention. I will break it down.
on days we have a big breakfast like a buffet or charac meal then we will have a snack midday then a big dinner. Or a simple breakfast in the room, then an early lunch and a late dinner, so just two good size meals per day, otherwise I'll be to stuffed to move-lol! :rotfl2:

Great places to eat!

Earle of Sandwich - THE BEST SANDWICHES ON EARTH! I eat there at least once every trip and I have never eaten a sandwich I didn't like. Salads are okay... lots of food with the DDP!

another place to think of: Raglan Road - 1 Table Service @ Downtown. We think its one of the best restaurants on the DDP and they have a live Irish band there every night and an Irish Dancer that dances on a table there too! Its at the border of Marketplace and Pleasure Island. My son loves the band, every since he was 2.5. (he's 5 now).

Spoodles has great pizza, but other than that, we didn't really like anything else.

One thing to think of when you are making your ressies, is that if you are going to a resort you gotta think transportation. If you don't have a car you will need to rely on buses. And depending on the resort it can get tricky getting around. If you are going from your resort, to another resort, there are no buses that take you directly. You have to go to Downtown or to a park to transfer. If you are going from a park then its no problem. Just something to think about.

A great website to look at is: www.allears.net This place has everything you will need to know. How many credits each place is and menus.

Enjoy!

I'm having a hardtime deciding what 1-credit counter services places to pick for dining any suggestion?
This is what i have on my list counter services so far...
-flametree (dd9) Restaurantosaurus or Pizzafari
-cosmic Rays
-Earl of sandwhich

any other must haves?

Our favorite Counter Service Locations (all CS are just one credit - regardless of how nice) are:

Restaurant Marrakesh - Epcot WS
Sommerfest - Epcot WS
Backlot Express at Studios
Pinocchio's Village Haus - Fantasyland Magic Kingdom
Casey's - Main St Magic Kingdom
Columbia Harbor House - Liberty Square Magic Kingdom

Of the restaurants that you've chosen there are not any that require two credits. There are also no restaurants that 'switch over' to two credits for dinner, like you implied in your prior post. If they require 1 credit - it's 1 credit for all meals that they serve.
