this is my OP yesterday. It all started Sun morning

anyone else having trouble with the Ding today. I already uninstall it once and then downloaded it again but the icon in my tray has the error code pop up all the time now .
:confused3

This has been going on all day. The Ding cannot connect to southwest.com

I tried SW and they don't know what why and to check with provider.

Spent an 1 or more with comcast this morning and could not resolve it. I'm using NORTON SECURITY its says its OK
I tried downloading atl least 5 diff. times but keep getting error.

The DING downloads but can not connect to SW.com
Did I do something on my computer to cause this ( I'm not the best on computers)

I've had the DING for more than a yr now with no problems, now this starts

can anyone help

good thing I got my 6 ding flights last wk .

I am wondering if your virus program is blocking the site. I would make sure that southwest.com is an approved site. Also you can try clearing your cookies and temp files.

Make sure if you uninstall and re-install, you completely reboot.

Just some thoughts.

I'm having the same problem as the OP so I'd like to know what's going on too. My laptop is connected to Comcast via a router. Everything downloads, and it even says "Ready" but I can't enter my airports and hit Update Registration. It says no connection. What's up?

I was having the same wicked problem just a few days ago when I tried to install DING on a different home computer. I was going NUTS! I checked everything... security level, firewall etc. etc. etc. until I realized that to the right of where you add the airports was a scrolling window bar :badpc:  :rolleyes2 . The way that the window was sized on my monitor... I just never saw it and so never saw the register button. Atleast it wasn't just me, I showed it to my DH who is a Network Admin guy and he didn't know how to fix it either :rotfl2:

when I hit update regisrtation all I get is a message saying cannot connect to southwest.com
I don't get to the adding airports section

Right.. that is what was happening to me. Don't hit Update Registration. Immediately to the right of the list of airports is a scrolling/sliding window tab. You have to slide the window screen down by clicking on it with your mouse and then you will see where to enter your zip code and your Rapid Rewards number if you have one.

you don't understand, when I hit the ding icon in my tray all I get is the ding window with the communication error on it telling me to retry. when I hit retry I get another window saying action cancelled . this has been for 2 days now

Sorry, my mistake. I was having this same problem...

but, I guess it was caused by different things. Good luck.

I had the exact thing happen to me the other day.

What started the whole mess was my Ding icon was no longer showing in the bottom right hand corner of my computer. I accused my husband of somehow deleting it, even though Ding was still installed. I uninstalled and re-installed it; that's when I started getting the message you are receiving. I was so upset and thought I really blew it. Fortunately for me, I just uninstalled again, re-installed and it worked. I know you have already done this and I am really sorry you continue to have this problem. Like jjan said, I was trying to update my registration too early.

So, I didn't help any, did I.

thanks everyone . I'm still having no kuck. I can't believe I had the DING for at least a year on this computer and all of a sudden on Sun it stopped letting me connect to southwest.con.

I turned the computer off all last night and still have the same problem. I think I must have reinstalled the ding at least 7 times with no luck :confused3

Make sure you are deleting this program from the add/remove area. Then after you do this remove, make sure the folder and any files belonging to Ding are deleted (use your search function for this), then delete your deleted files.
Delete your cookies and cache and then reinstall. Also, you may need to disable Norton while you are downloading the program.

thank you ,thank you , :thumbsup2 thank you

did all this and it worked.

I must not have combined all the above to get this result. still don't know why it happened unless norton firewall took over from windows firewall and that caused it :confused3

thank you to everyone who helped :woohoo: :woohoo:

You are more than welcome. What probably happened is that a file got corrupted, it does happen.
Glad it all worked out. :)
