WE are looking for a local place to eat when we arrive in San Diego the first day...any recommendations?

If you are referring to the one's on Guy's show we have eaten at the Studio Diner. It was ok. I had the clam chowder, a salad and a dessert. I ended up getting ill from something I ate there. My husband said his meal was great. There is also El Indio for Mexican, Luigi's Pizza, and if you check the food network website you can see the entire list of restaurants. I personally like a seafood restaurant by Seaport Village called Anthony's Fish Grotto. Nice views

Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy is one of my favorite San Diego restaurants; here's a link: http://www.realcheesepizza.com/

They serve DELICIOUS pizza, pasta, and other Italian dishes, for very reasonable prices. They have many locations in San Diego, but the one in Little Italy is the best; it's been there since the 1940s & is decorated with candles, checkerboard tablecloths, and hundreds of empty Chianti bottle hanging from the ceiling.

I second the recommendations for Filippi's in Little Italy and Hodad's in Ocean Beach. Parking at Hodad's can be a bit of a challenge, but might not be as bad in the evening.

What part of town will you be staying in? These places are fairly convenient to downtown/Hotel Circle, but not so much if you're staying in Coronado or North County.
