Dilemma: Date Stamp on Pictures, How to Remove?

I have a Cannon Powershot SD 880 IS Digital ELPH. I have some great pictures that have a date stamp on them. I'd just like to remove them completely. I haven't seen anything in the manual that addresses this. I have not deleted the pictures from my camera.

I have tried removing the date stamp on copies of the pictures using Paint Shop. It's tedious and I haven't had good results.

Is there any way to remove the date stamp on the pictures that are still on my camera's memory?

I really don't think so. I think it will involve editing them as you mentioned. If its only a couple I'm sure we could help.

in the mean time, have you turned off the date stamp to eliminate the problem with future photos..

Thanks, VVFF. I was close to removing the date stamp without it being obvious. But there were some color gradients that even with the grid, it was difficult to get right. I'm not going to give up though.

Oh yes! Thanks. I took the date stamp off as soon as I realized it was on. Not soon enough though.

I have some beautiful sunset pictures around the beach. Cropping them would lose a lot of the effect. I think I could probably keep working with Paint Shop or some other program. We'll see.

I removed the date stamp recently from a picture someone took of my DBF and I pretty easily using the clone stamp in photoshop.

Nothing can be done (that I know of) with the ones on the card already.
