Digital Scrappers - Post pages here!!!

Hi guys! Question for you all..

How long does it take for you all to do pages?? I think my computer is just too slow to handle the photoshop elements and all my *junk*. ( I have a very inexpensive laptop - i am sure bottom of the line). But, i just get frustrated, it took me 2.5 hrs last night to do 3 digi layouts. I am just feeling caught now -- i want to really catch up on my scrapbooking, but fear that i just can't do it on my laptop. (and our desktop pc is about 7 yrs old!).. And buying a new computer just isn't in the forcast..
Sorry.. just had to vent..

Caits - I'm a slow scrapper since I haven't been doing it very long so it could easily take me over 2 hours to do just one! On the other hand, my laptop is several years old and reacts the same as yours, periodically freezing and responding slowly. The good news is that my H announced yesterday that he's getting me a new laptop for my birthday/Christmas present! Yippee! I do know what you're going through and I know how frustrating it can be.

It takes me forever, too. I actually shut my computer down and reboot after each LO. Also, I load my LO right away onto shutterfly so I can pull the PSE file off my computer. And for some reason the memoy on my computer keeps disappearing and it keeps getting slower and slower. I don't understand! Such a pain in the butt. OT: congrats on your new TM! :goodvibes

Lauren, glad to hear it's not just me!! LOL I never thought to reboot after each lo.. and i am definately doing what you do - i save each lo to a usb stick and upload also to shutterfly or snapfish, and delete it too. Same with my kits, i save those to a usb stick.

It can take me hours to work on a LO, too, even with templates! I'm always a slow scrapper though. ;) We need a new desktop, or at least our desktop needs the ram updated. Everything goes SO slow when I work on LOs in Photoshop, and I have lots of other problems, too. It's not just you. ;)

The only scrapping stuff I keep on my hard drive are stuff by Britt, Ellie Lash, and Erica Zane, since I use their stuff all the time. All my kits & templates are on 2 external drives (I'm paranoid, so I always keep things on 2 backups.) I only keep the 12x12 and web versions of the pages on the computer, the psd files go on the externals. I keep meaning to burn them to DVD as well (paranoid, remember ;))

Okay, I need some help, y'all. My photobook is done. :goodvibes I'm getting it all set up so I can order from Shutterfly and get free shipping and use the coupon, which I have to do by Tuesday night, I think.

Okay. So here' s my problem. I save all my LOs 11.75 and they all look great. Two pages are lining up and everything. BUT the front cover is being cropped weird on the right side. I've opened up the window and moved around the edit box, but it still looks off. Should I have saved my front cover at another size????? I've looked all over Shutterfly to find the answer but all I can find is the 11.75, which I did!

I know I'm getting too upset. Some people, like DH  might even say over-reactive. But I'm just SO FREAKING CLOSE! Ya know!

Any ideas on what I should do to make my cover fit right??

Lauren, i am sorry, i can't help.. actully i used a 4x6 photo (well whatever size a digi photo is before you make it a 4x6 i guess) for my front full bleed 8x8 cover, and it somehow got adjusted and came out great! But, i know due to the spine cutting in, it's not a true 8x8 (or 12x12) cover.. wish i could help!! I am trying to finish up a dcl album, geeZ, does that coupon end tomorrow?! Better get my butt in gear!!

I did 3 more lo's tonight (up to page 6 now) in 1 hour. Granted i used two of Britts quick pages.. LOL shhhh.. our secret. LOL
I will get them posted here tomorrow!

Just checked lauren, the free ship is good til the 8th (weds) and the 30% off coupon for the extra books is good til the 28 or 29..
Do you have to buy the same extra book for the discount, or can it be a different book, as long as it's the same size?

I know there is a place on Shutterfly that tells you the dimensions needed for the cover. Let me see if I can find it for you.

Lauren,

Here is the the links for the specs for Shutterfly books. This should help you out with the cover.

Thanks y'all for the help. Melissa, thanks for finding that for me. I'm still doing something wrong though. I've saved that page every size from 9.5 up to 15 and loaded it on there. Each time I put it on the cover, it looks exactly the same. No matter what size it is, it cuts off in the same place. Do I need to totally recreat the LO maybe? I hope not. I just don't understand why a different size isn't making it look different. Each time it's exactly the same. Any advice?? This is driving me nutso!

Here's a LO that I did for the Roadmap Challenge at SM. This is a photo of my grandmother (on the left) and her sister.

Here is the layout I did for the Template challenge at SM. I changed the template around quite a bit.

Sweet Treats - Photos of the Ye Olde Pepper Companie in Salem, MA. The candies were soooooo good!!! The box is actually from a photo I took of the box then extracted it.

Lauren,

In looking at the specs for the 12x12 book the page should be 12.35, but only 11.5 will show. It looks as if you postion your layout as you want it to appear on the left side with a margin around the top, bottom, and right side it will appear correctly. It cuts off the right side because of the "flap" so the actual printed image is to the left. You could always open up a new file and position your layout on it following the specs template then use another paper or color behind it that will then get trimmed. Does that make sense?

Ok, here are my cruise layouts from our cruise last month.. I was torn b/w doing a regular sb or digi. Well, i sat down in my sb room at home and couldn't for the life of me know where to begin to paper scrap since i have been digi for about 2 years now.. LOL So, i decided to do this in all digi.

Wow! Caitsmama, those pages are fantastic! And you're getting me very excited for our cruise next October. Oh, that's such a long ways away...

Caitsmama, those pages are magnificent!!!! Thanks for sharing (even though it makes me "home"sick)

First, MELISSA, you are DA BOM! Why can you explain and I say, oh, snap, I see it, but when Shutterfly explains it I sit up all night pondering the complexities of their stupid system? They need you. You should write all explanations for everything. :goodvibes So front cover fixed in like two minutes and looks great. thank you, thank you thank you!

Caitsmama: You're rockin! Keep it up.

And here it is, my Adventures by Disney Opus. I would like to take a moment to thank Melissa, without whom I never would have had the cover on straight. I would like to thank Britt, too, without whose fantastic work would have left me uninspired. Seriously though, if y'all go look at it I think you'll notice a lot of things that are Britts.

But mostly I want to thank all of you, my Dis scapping sisters, without your advice and encouragement I would still be on page two of 80. Showing y'all my LOs has really kept me going.

I'm about to get stupidly mushy, so here it is, drum roll, please:

Caits -- those are great! Really fun. May I ask the name of the font that you used on the Topsider's page? The one with the little stars on top of the letters? Thanks!

Lauren -- Awesome book! Congrats on finishing. The book is fabulous. A nice variety of beautiful and fun! Let us know how you like the finished product when it arrives. I plan to use shutterfly for my first book.
