YAY Kari! Welcome, Welcome! Love your passion for Disney. That tatoo is adorable.

So - I wrote an article on the ScrapMatters Team Blog today. If anyone wants to read it its here. It's all about fonts. I'm a font-aholic! HAHA
I too am a font-aholic, which means now I will have to go and download all of those fonts plus many, many more! LOL

I saw that!! I'm a font freak, too. I love a good, pretty, flowing, but easy to read handwritten style. But I hate my own handwriting. lol But I had it made into a font. Go figure. That's mine on the 31st & Troost LO. I had NO IDEA Walt Disney lived & workere here in Kansas City. And this is where the idea for Mickey came to be! From a mouse that used to sneak into his desk drawer at work. Then there's Marceline, MO. I can't wait to visit there.

Kari, your LO's are gorgeous, I especially like the Walt Disney one.
I've thought of having my handwriting made into a font. How do you like yours compared to your original? Do you mind sharing where you had it done and price?

Since my sister was working tonight and there were no Disney movies on tap to watch, I had time to finish this layout I started yesterday. Earlier this week I began reading this one book called This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War by Drew Gilpin Faust and its really good. It got me thinking of my trip to Gettysburg almost a year ago and I had only scrapped the MI monuments so far. I was going to do the Gettysburg battlefield as a traditional scrapbook, but then decided I liked how the others turned out and decided to do a whole digital book about Gettysburg.

The first one I did was for the 20th Maine Monument. Besides the MI monuments, this is one of my favorites. I *LOVE* the scene in the movie "Gettysburg" where the 20th Maine is placed on Little Round Top and Jeff Daniel's speech, which is what I incorporated into the layout. Not sure if the words are historically accurate, but that is my favorite part of the movie.

The only items used were the brads from Atomic cupcake as well as an action from there used on the photo. I believe the fonts used were Goudy Old Style and Bell MT. I turned down the saturation on the photo to keep hints of the color, but make it more subtle. The vibrant colors just didn't work. And like my previous Civil War layouts, I really wanted to keep it clean and simple, to let the photos speak more than embellishments, etc.

I have been checking out this thread for about six months now and have finally gotten up the courage to post. I love everyone's layouts they have posted. :) I just started digi scrappin last year and am lovin' it. I still paper scrap, too, so I have a mix of both kinds of pages in my albums. :)

Welcome! I'm brand new to the site, but have received the warmest welcome! I'm glad you finally posted! Can't wait to see some LOs!!

Welcome Amanda!!

Melissa and Kari -- great layouts!!

Melissa -- that Gettysburg LO is beautiful! I love what you did with the photo. I'm not a history buff and you made me want to go to Gettysburg now! That's a feat in itself!

Britt - Thanks for the link to the font article. I think it is so neat that you can turn your own handwriting into a font. That was the one thing that made me a little said about doing the digital... but now I can have the best of both worlds. :yay:

I think it's time I officially say HI! I check daily to see all your wonderful work. I love seeing what new ideas people have come up with for their Disney layouts.

I've been digital scrapping for about 1 year & did my whole last trip digital. Am currently working on my Disney Cruise trip so am loving all the Disney Cruise layouts!

Here are two of my recent cruise layouts-

Beautiful work! I have the Lilac kit. It's fabulous and you did it justice!

I don't know how I got so behind, but I am finally caught up. On this thread, not my scrapbooking! But, if I can't scrap with this kind of inspiration, than I may as well hang it up!

Britt, I feel your pain scrapping those precious photos! At least with digital, we don't have to hack up our memories. Your work is incredible, so glad to have you here.

Looking forward to more great layouts from everyone!

Now, I must flip through the 11 other windows I opened while reading this! Not to offend any of you, but you may want to get your enabling problem checked out! ;)

Where's the "evil laughter" smilie when you need it? I'll have to go with this one for now  Enjoy your shopping!

Morning & Happy Friday!

Could someone please tell me how they include someone else's layout in a reply (like if you want to comment on it & show it in your post). I can figure out the word quotes, but not the layout????

Also, anyone else out there from the midwest & feel our earthquake? I know Californians are laughing at us..but it's a big deal to us Chicago people!!!! We never get earthquakes! :)

Here in Indiana I missed it... or slept through it... DH didn't feel it either. You quote an image the same way you quote text.... little quote button on the original post. :)

This is great!!!! I'm gonna definitely have to get that kit.

I'm not sure... whenever I quote someone their images come along in the quote and I usually take it out. Which is what I wanted to mention... I don't know what ettiquitte of this situation is so I may be waaaaayyyy off base here and if I am I apologize. But I usually cut the LO itself and just include something of the text that reminds us of what it was. That way, we're not looking at the same pictures all the time. They're wonderful! Don't get me wrong.. but after seeing them time and time and time again in quotes I guess maybe I just feel a little less able to keep up with all you fantasmic scrappers! :rotfl2: (just one person's opinion, of course, for whatever it's worth)

I usually take the photo out of my reply, too. I think the thread gets too long with all of the pictures being reposted over and over via quotes, too.

If you do want to include the picture, just hit the quote button in the original post with the photo (if you are trying to quote a auote, it won't work) and the photo will be in your quote box. It won't look like a photo as you are editing, but you can tell the photo is in there because you'll see the

Thanks for the tip! I feel so enlightened now! :)

Hypermommy- The Destinations kit is really neat- especially for a cruise, it has a cruise sticker in it!. I did another layout with this kit and when I get home from work I'll upload it to Photobucket so I can share it.

I thought someone from this board used that kit before too... for their cruise layouts. I really liked their layout from it......

Usually I try and only leave the picture in if its on a past page. But sometimes I forget to take it out. Pretty sure I just did this in the challenge thread. Ooopsie!
