At the Beach

Beach2-SM.jpg

This is of my family at the beach near the cabin. It is my Great-Grandma, maternal Grandparents, my Aunts, and one of my Uncles. Aren't the swimsuits just so spiffy! ;)

The paper is from a kit called Summer Breeze by Lindsay Jane Designs. I created the chipboard pieces with an action I downloaded from Atomic Cupcake. I think the font I used for it was Cooper. And the flourishes are a Photoshop brush. I blurred out my Great-Grandma's last name for privacy reasons.

love, Love, LOVE IT! :thumbsup2

I haven't posted many layouts lately. DH got the grand idea for me to make a brag book for my step son before he left us (he's only with us for a few weeks in the summer). I made 56 pages I think and if you want to see them, you can here! I didn't quite finish, but I have extra time til we next see him at Christmas to get those done!

I joined the CT team for Digitals and we trade designers each month. This month I've been with Dea Spina who has some really great kits. Here are my layouts I made for her:

Using her Nearly Spring kit:

My little Mickey was already asleep in the stroller! :lmao:

and with her kit A Place for a Boy

I got on another CT too a couple days ago, but haven't done anything there yet. Here are a couple others from WDW I have done recently:

That's the pic we got sent in our email from the Imagination post show.

Those are cute, Fran! I really like the Haunted Mansion one; it's creepy. :lmao: And I love the Minnie Dress!

OMG, FRAN! Those are so great. :thumbsup2 I think the Haunted Mansion one came out so cool. But my fav is the baby LO with little Samuel. That brag book idea is way cool. I sort of have an a-tradional family dynamic too. I wish we would have thought of that. Really wonderful. Plus, I'm all about the inspiration thsese days. ;)

EDT: I just relooked and now I think the Woody page is my favorite. Can I change my answer? LOL

Love the pages ladies - especiallyt he doodles and flourishes

I have just uploaded some free doodle flourishes on my blog if you want to download them

Just wanted to show my latest work in progress. I'm a little proud because I took one picture and sort of made it the 12X12 base paper for the LO. Everything else I've used has been a freebie from Shaby Princess. They have such pretty stuff. Another tip I picked up here, thanks! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure about the font or it saying Gracie, even though that's her name. So I'm still thinking about that. The frame came from Elements 5.

I'll have to see if I can work in a florish or two from Dolly! ;)

Any ideas y'all?!

Very pretty. I like how you used the one picture as the background. And your other photo is so interesting and strangely beautiful.

I would work on making "Gracie" stand out a bit more. Maybe emboss it or add a drop shadow. Or put a small box of white faded out behind (decrease the opacity a bit) the brown flourish box to help it stand out a bit more.

Also maybe "grunge" up the edges of the background photo to make it look older like the other photo. You can use brushes for that or I know there are some overlays out there that do that same sort of thing.

Its very good. :) You really are learning quickly.

I've been back to work on my project of Gracie. I'm still looking for a way to grunge it up a little bit so that's still out there as something to do. My husband had the idea to do the journaling around the edge when I couldn't think where to put it. Melissa had the great idea to put something behind the name and the florish. I changed out the frame, but I'm not decided for sure on which one yet. I like them both. Does anyone have a favorite?

Here is page two. I'm not sure I'm going to leave the Bonaventure there. I'm not sure it needs it. Thoughts??

Would someone please take pity on me and tell me what the difference between a brush and a stamp is? I swear they really seem like the same thing to me on the computer. (a stamp in real life is a stamp and a brush is a brush and I never seem to get them confused!) And some things people are saying are stamps seem like they should just be an embellishment. I'm trying to organize my mind, but I'm just not getting it.

If I'm being too OCD with these layouts, y'all don't be afraid to tell me. I know sometimes I get a little nutzo!

Thanks for the thoughts and opinions!

I like the color behind the frame with the words, that really helps to make it pop and stand out. I think I almost like the frame from the first one. It looks more old, if that makes sense.

I'm not sure how to really explain it, but brushes are of different shapes and designs and can be any color. There are TONS of places to download them from. I think I must have like 500 brushes installed in my Photoshop. They can get addictive. The little flourish on my beach layout is done with a brush. Brushes can be set to any size you want. I'm not really sure what stamps do.

If you want some neat brushes, go here:
http://www.brushes.obsidiandawn.com/index.htm

This is where that flourish I used came from. There are some really neat brushes on this site. There are instructions on how to install the brushes and tips on using them.

My tip regarding the usage of brushes, is to use a separate layer for each brush that way if you don't like you haven't ruined any of your photos. And you can also resize or turn the layer then.

These pages are so ethereal and beautiful

I don't understand stamps and brushes either. I think its because I can't use brushes int he digi program I use.

I'm trying to put together a list of all the digital scrapbookers here and what program they use. The idea is that if someone has a program specific question that they can get help from others who use that same program. So if everyone could go here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1521983

and post your name and which program(s) you use it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks!

Hi everyone... Wow I have missed alot of great posts.. All the layouts are amazing.. I have done zero scrapping the last three weeks. This is the first time I have visited the Dis in days.. Everyone keep up the great work. I will be back soon, the remodel is almost done and I am adjusting to the new job so hopefully I can start scrapping again soon.

Take care

In terms of Photoshop and PSE, they really are the same thing. The actual term is "brush", but when you click on your layout once, you are basically "stamping" the brush once and it'll leave a single imprint. Lots of brushes are created with the intention of using them in this manner, and so maybe they get called stamps by some people? I always call them brushes. :) If you click and drag out any brush, you get a brushstroke, not a stamped effect. Does that make sense?

I know it has been sometime since I last posted any LO. I am trying to get a year in review done for my DS (notice it was last year) oh well better late than never. Here are just 2 of my LO.

Here is the newest layout I did. It is for the newest member of my family - my Sister-in-Law.

Chris-Roberta-SM.jpg

No kits were used in this one. The roses at the bottom are a brush I downloaded from this site: http://aethereality.net/brushes.php. They have some really neat brushes. I think the roses I used are from the Wired Photography set (page 6). The intertwined hearts I made myself because that was the symbol they used on their invitations. The font for their names is the same font from their invitations as well. And the one words are the lyrics to "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, which is the song they danced to for their first dance. And its red, because our dresses were an apple red. For some reason when I upload the pictures to AOL it sort of changes the colors a bit. And lastly, because I blurred out their faces you can't see it, but in the smaller picture at the bottom, my brother has his head on her shoulder.

This layout I think so really cute . . . . because its of ME!!! ;) :lmao: :rotfl: My paternal Grandparents had brought my brothers down to see me after I was born. I just love the look on my own brother's face of excitement. I can only imagine that he is excited to see me! :lmao:

Hi All,

Well I am in awe of everyone's amazing talents. I scrap booked 2 of my past tripes and thought they were good until I saw this thread. You all put mine to shame. But I am now motivated to do more(been over a year) and to make them better then ever. I debated on posting some of mine as they are not that great but hey we all have to start some where. I have been so motivated by all the great pages that i went out and bought Photo Impact 11 and have been trying to read the big book that came with it-very over whelming! Well here goes nothing here are some of my pages:
