Am I ...am I reading that answer right??
While I get that some folks just don't want a smart phone (or don't want to be forced to own one), and that's totally cool, the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of adults today own a smart phone. In the US, the number is 85% (61% 65+), in the UK it's 88% (78% in 55+), and in Canada, it's around 86%. To put it in context, 48% of the population in Nigeria accessed the internet via a mobile device in 2021.
Absolutely NOT saying anyone should be forced to conform in order to enjoy Disney, but it's not like they are rolling out a program targeting a minority of the population.
And, I will add that for many years, people have said they would love a way to see it so that the system recognized owners as DVC so we didn't have to show blue cards. At least this is a step in the right direction...assuming it works correctly...for those of us who do want to make it easier by using a digital version!!!
They wanted the Magic bands or something to just access the profile so restaurants and stores applied the discount. Not to have to dig out a phone to replacing digging out a card. Even the hotels had to concede they have to have cards for room access - that not everyone will use their phone.
Well, I have an Apple watch which I use for my ticket so I think its great. Certainly not saying that there should not be an option for those who don't want to use a phone, but I am excited that this is going to be this way.
I didn't see a way to access on my android watch. But smart watches are rarer than smartphones so not really going to help a lot.
If it shows "DVC Y", it updated automatically. My MagicMobile was set up back in May of last year. Does anyone know if I need to do anything now to update, or if it updates/refreshes on its own with the pass in my wallet? It does show DVC Y and other affiliations.
I just don’t see the point in this. We’ll have to dig out our ID anyway. I always stack my driver’s license and DVC card in my travel wallet for easy access. Now I have to open my phone (forget facial ID with a mask on) and open Apple wallet AND pull out my physical wallet for ID…. Doesn’t make sense.
Thank you!If it shows "DVC Y", it updated automatically.
Yes except that Disney IT can’t seem to get it right and we all know what tech is like - more problems than not. Why this can’t be coded into magic bands and why we have to go through a third party app is beyond me.I think it is also so that it takes discounts out of the hands of CM. Scan the code and it says yes or no.
