Digital Membership Cards?

My MagicMobile was set up back in May of last year. Does anyone know if I need to do anything now to update, or if it updates/refreshes on its own with the pass in my wallet? It does show DVC Y and other affiliations.

If we have to show the QR code from MagicMobile to get discounts, I will just screenshot it and save to my favorites folder for easy pull-up. I still love my MBs (I buy the ones with the graphics I love) and will continue to use them.

Disney will still have to ask to see ID or they definitely just wasted their time trying to avoid this extra people getting discounts situation. I can share this pass to anyones’s phone? Does that seem right? I just sent it to my husbands wallet who doesn’t even have a Disney login. What if I was blue card and shared the pass with my family of 12? This doesn’t even have my full last name on it. So now resale members post 2016 can’t get the discount but blue card members cousin who has zero Disney affiliation can? Just weird.

It states ID is still required.

It still requires ID. This is just a way for CM's to not have to know the difference between white card and blue card members.

Long press on the card then drag it into the order you want it. There is no way to make it primary though.

I have 4 cards in mine, its the last one, but to me its not that hard to just tap it to bring it up from the last place position, you'll have to tap it to get to the QR code either way.
That’s the thing, it’s too many steps to get to the QR code. I need to double click on my watch, then scroll down to get to it, then click again, then scroll down again to get to the QR code. It’s just so clunky, and then most of the time it didn’t even work, so I just gave up.

I’m getting the dreaded DVC ND indication, despite the fact that I do own direct. I think MDE is only seeing the membership ID for my resale purchase and not pulling in the info for my direct membership. I’m also not seeing any recognition of my Disney Visa or geographic notes that are in my MDE profile. Disney IT is clearly on the ball, as usual. 🙄

Were you resale only when you added DVC to your MDE? I wouldn’t if that’s what MDE sees.

When they went to single account login (or whatever it’s called, around the same time Disney+ launched), I wonder if the system just synced and pulled in all memberships. For example, I had to manually add DVC to my MDE back in 2016, using some login ID? I don’t remember ever telling MDE I was a castaway cay member and it just showed up 🤷🏻‍♀️
hence some folks are seeing only their resale contracts were linked?

Thank you! IMO DVC would have been better off issuing new blue cards and getting rid of digital cards all together. Of course they would have to figure out TOTWL and pool hopping, but I don't see why you can't just show the MDE app for that. On top of the QR code, blue card members still have to pull their wallets out for ID, but only to match the first name I guess since the last one isn't on there??? Now instead of one blue card per membership there will be multiple with full travel parties using them claiming they forgot their ID and CMs will oblige as they always have. I have a blue card friend and I will try and remember to report how this works for us both at the end of the month since we will be traveling together.

A wonderful member of the DVCfan FB group has taken one for the team and called in to find out about the pre-2016 members being coded as DVC ND. As suspected they should be getting the discounts but when they ran the scripts to pull the info it classified all resale the same. They said it could be a few weeks before it is fixed and they are extending the use of the blue cards until the end of Jan.

I hate it when my suspicions are correct.
Unbelievable.

Ah okay, darn. The way they describe it I thought it would work. But it makes sense it may not since I could just message anyone on this forum that was going to Disney and share my DVC discount, for example.

How interesting! The POS does state that guests of members may qualify for some of the membership perks but that's been fairly rare in recent years. Maybe they are going to start allowing more to members guests.

I think it’s inconsistent across the board. I too have direct and resale contracts but is showing DVC Y. I think it’s similar to how some resale owners have issues with borrowing while others do not. No rhyme or reason.

One thing I'm now curious about with how the seem to have pulled the qualifications is whether there could be members with direct contracts who were white card members who now show as qualifying for discounts. If anyone here has a direct contract but is white card, please post how your affiliation shows.

We have 160 resale bought in 2019 as well as 100 direct bought in 2020. If things work out we would like to add another 50 direct this year but at this point we only have a white card but my wallet says DVC Y Annual.

Who knows.

I don’t have the line where the Y indicator is (own direct and resale) but I got the QR code. Can I quit now?

i said today to dh today what makes me sad is my father could never figure this out if he had a need to.

That's what I figured. It's either direct of not direct with how the coding pulled. Hopefully they leave it that way for you!

We are white card holders with direct points as well but not enough to qualify for a blue card but my wallet shows DVC Y.

I do have some thoughts that may possibly offer an explanation as to why this is occurring.

We stayed in our direct points contract in September and received an invitation to the Remy’s preview- again we stayed using direct points and have no blue card and had no issues getting in to the preview.

Shop Disney let me use the DVC code when there was a 25% discount or something like that about a month ago.

When we called ticketing in September we were allowed us to purchase vouchers for Sorcerers pass- I didn’t ask for that I just wanted to upgrade to hoppers from base tickets and two different ticket reps said you have a qualifying membership and are allowed to purchase.

Booking a reservation with my resale contract does not allow me to book Riviera. Member services does not recognize me as a blue card member and as such I am also not entitled to membership extras.

DVC recognizes my white card status but I assume with the many layers of restrictions/minimum point qualification over the years it has been difficult to filter and merge that data with accuracy across all divisions and hence the current issues. Just my two cents.

I had to remove the card, remove my phone number from my profile in MDE, then save, then add it back in, then verify. Then re install the card and now it shows the DVC affiliation.

I think you're right - DVD has created a system that's difficult for humans to remember, and I can't imagine how difficult it would be to program the algorithm!

Anyone know how to download the member card to MDE WITHOUT using Google Pay. I don't ever use it, and have no intention of adding a digital wallet to my phone or giving Google more access to my stuff. Thanks but no thanks.
I agree!
