Digital Membership Cards?

I understand what you’re saying, but a short expiration date on the printout and/or coded into an accompanying QR code could work. They’ve already shortened the expiration of the one on the website to a month, so they could shorten it further (and make owners who overstay that length go to the resort front desk or concierge to print a new one) if they’re so afraid of people getting discounts when they’re no longer owners.
I think they're more concerned with white card owners getting discounts and CM's have proven to not be good at enforcing that. A QR that could be printed with a short expiry I think could work and really would be a good option. I think they want to take away any CM discretion.

How does this work when only one person has a DVC log in account? My husband doesn't have one and has never had the DVC affiliation show on his MDE account. I assume he will now need his own DVC account to have this show on the mobile pass?

Did they give any indication of what would be available for members who do not have smart phones? Yes, I know that "most" people do, but not everyone does, so they should still have the option to print a card from the member website, even with a very short expiration date.

Wow, thanks! I hadn't looked at the wallet on my watch since forever, but after reading this I pulled it up and sure enough, it lists everything that's under my affiliations in MDE.

As above, it has to do with where you live. Ours shows Geographic as well, and in MDE it lists our home state (Texas) as one of our affiliations.

I did not ask that so don’t know. But, it did sound like MDE is it. Now, I do wonder if when you stay at a resort and they code a card for those without Magic bands if those will work since they do for MDE now?

All owners can have one. I think that may be needed so that his MDE recognizes him. Or, he just needs to find out his club ID to add it to MDE and then maybe Magic Mobile will pick it up?

Thanks. We purposely never set up an account for him because it just wasn't needed. I guess we will have to now...

All my pass in Magic Mobile has is my name and the fact that I'm a Disney Vacation Club member. No #, no abbreviation, NADA. People talk about "setting it up". I don't understand that. What's this "setting it up" that some people talk about? It says "Add to Apple Wallet" at the bottom of the page, but I don't even know what that means.

Assuming it's the same as what you are discussing, in my MDE when I go to Magic Mobile, I have an option to share my MM pass with others in my party/by iMessage. I planned on sending mine to our friends that are coming with us on our trip in February so they can utilize our DVC discount. Hopefully that's how it works...

I don’t think they can because you still have to provide ID. That has not changed and while you can friends and family it, it would still show you as the owner and thus, need to have an ID to match.

Ah okay, darn. The way they describe it I thought it would work. But it makes sense it may not since I could just message anyone on this forum that was going to Disney and share my DVC discount, for example.

Not sure if it's the only purpose, but this is the way I use this feature - my daughter has an Apple Watch, but not an MDE account. I created her mobile pass and shared it with her so she could use it on her watch. Since I also manage my son's MDE I did this for him and shared the pass with my husband so that he can have the mobile pass for our son in case we are not all together.

I finally got into the site again, and the link for View Membership Card keeps going to the dwarves. I wonder if they are finally getting around to updating the site with the new info?

I was able to get to that page a few minutes ago but then couldn't pull up the temporary card (just got the blue circle). Now I can't get anything to load again.

Just tried again, and it still errors just on that but I did get to my dashboard to see the rooms I booked this morning. I did screenshot the blue card yesterday, so I know it was there then. But, the CM did tell me this morning they would be going away and it seems now like that may be the case.

A wonderful member of the DVCfan FB group has taken one for the team and called in to find out about the pre-2016 members being coded as DVC ND. As suspected they should be getting the discounts but when they ran the scripts to pull the info it classified all resale the same. They said it could be a few weeks before it is fixed and they are extending the use of the blue cards until the end of Jan.

I did this following to “fix” this same issue for me (another user also did the same and said it worked).

First — remove the card from your wallet.

Next — In the MDE app go to your profile / account settings. Remove your cell phone and save settings. Go back into account settings and add the cell phone back and verify it (it took a minute for the verification code to get to me).

Next — Wait a few seconds and go back into MagicMobile. You SHOULD now see the DVC design (and AP if you are an AP). Add the card. It should add to Wallet with the DVC design and any affiliations you have.

Finally — never touch MagicMobile again as I assume it would break the affiliations.
Thank-you for this info!!! I did this and it fixed the issues I was having. :)

ok - Im an idiot.. 🙄 and I'm using an android....

Im trying to find the "affiliations" - when I click on "My profile" on MDE, I and go to Memberships and Passes it shows me that Im an AP and that it expires 10/13/22, DVC (with just my ID#) and a Disney Visa card member - all words are spelled out and there are no abbreviations...

when I click on Magic Mobile it pulls up our APs - and I can change the picture of my AP from Minnie to show DVC (by using the "Change pass style" button but Im not seeing where there is a barcode or any of the abbreviations everyone else is talking about.

I did follow the directions on page #3 and remove my phone in both places and save, then wait, then re-log back in. Then I even uninstalled the app and re-installed it and I'm still lost.

Where are the abbreviations and where is the bar that someone would scan for my DVC card to get a discount?

Thanks!

Dazed and confused...

This worked for me too. Not sure how you figured this one out but thank you.

The affiliations that people are referring to are AFTER the pass has been added to the Apple Wallet on their iPhone and/or Apple Watch. In your case, you will need to add it to Google Pay on your phone.

I just tried on my iPad and was able to load my temporary card. Hopefully it isn’t too widespread, I don’t have a physical card and I imagine it’s the same for many that joined in recent months. Would be bad if new members that were going to Disney now couldn’t even get a temp card.

This is so annoying. This scenario should've been identified when they were writing up the business rules for the IT team to follow. I really wonder how their IT department operates. Do they follow the same type of process that most other companies follow where the business side provides the business rules and then the IT department has to code the changes from there? Or do they just tell the IT department "hey, go make a change to put all the cards on-line" and the IT department just has to do what they can and hope for the best? Sigh...sorry..off topic a bit...
