Difficulty backing in

We just returned from our first trip to FW. It almost didn't happen because we had so much difficulty backing in to our site! Actually we didn't get into the site they gave us -- 1441. We changed to 1437 and it was difficult also because of the wooden fence across from the site.

So..... are we the only ones that have had a horrible experience getting in to our site? We have had our 34 ft. 5th wheel for about a year now so we are still not great but this seemed overwhelming! Not a great way to start our trip but it was great after that!

It can be difficult sometimes specially at FW. It was built in 1971 based on the RV sizes of that time. We too have to work a little bit harder to back ours in the 1400 loop. We have 31Ft travel trailer that we pull with our 23Ft Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4 Ford F250. That is a total length of 54Ft.Last year we arrived at 3:30 AM and I was trying to be quiet backing into our site. But you know with that much rig and that diesel engine running it sure is hard to do it. To compound things the people across from our site had parked their Ford Expedition across the front of their site with it partially in the road. This made it extremely difficult. So I feel for you. We love BigBear Little Bear loop so we think it is well worth it. Next time check out www.disneycampers.com there is a campsite index tere having a discription and measurements about alot of the sites and then you can request a specific site # when you make your ressies, although they won't guarantee that you will get that exact site.

The cms at the front desk do have a book that gives the dimensions, tent pad, whether it takes an awning or slideout and a ranking for ease of backing in. On your next visit you might want to request an easy back in site on your reservation.

I always do this for my parents when they come for a visit. They have a long MH and my dad is not good at backing in. I have to agree with you it doesnt help when the site across the street has an suv.

Just thought is was us! We have had problems too and our travel trailer is only 26' but with a LWB extended cab Chevy p/up, it really increases the difficulty especially when your neighbors across the way are blocking your access. And the concrete posts that aren't near anything that could be damaged... what sicko thought those things up!

Well 3 more days and we'll be doing it again.

YES THEY REALLY SHOULDNT PUT BIG CAMPERS ON THAT SITE JUST AFTER CHRISTMAS I WATCHED A BIG MOTOR COACH TAKE 45 MIN TO MANUEVER IN . THAT LITTLE FENCE SURE DOES GET IN THE WAY.

I feel your pain! I'm just glad I didn't have to back our 34' 5er (long bed, ext cab truck) into our space on the 300 loop.

DH has driven backwards (equipment, equipment trailers, stk body truck, aerial trucks with pole trailers, etc) more than I have driven forewards.

Even with all his experience, it took a couple of tries to place the trailer were we could get all the slides open (still couldn't use awning). But we were just HAPPY:bounce: to be there. After 18 hours we were happy to be anywhere off the road :hyper:

We have requested the 1400 loop for our trip in Aug - so hopefully we will not get the site 1441.

Hope next time you have an easier time!
