another question from a soon-to-be-DVCer. We travel almost exclusively during the choice and adventure seasons and were wondering if it is difficult at that time to book at seven months. I would assume that low season is low because there is not as much demand, but does anyone think it would be hard to book away from home resort those weeks?

thanks

That is hard to say. Low season, especially early December, is extremely difficult to book at the 7 month window because the points are so low. Food and wine in October is also popular for the Boardwalk and the Beach club.

Last year I was still able to book studios for late August at least through June.

We just booked outside of our home resort for September - 60 days out due to holding points. We also have NYE reservations outside our home resort, so while it's challenging it's not impossible. I had luck last year with wait list in December as well.

Its going to depend on a number of factors:

1. How close to the seven month window you call. There will probably be some availablity seven months out, but the longer you wait, the slimmer the availability.

2. What resort you want. Obviously, resorts with a small number of rooms are going to book fast if all resorts have the same level of demand from "outsiders."

3. What room you want. Studios and Grand Villas book fast. Two bedrooms are probably the easiest to get. Standard View at BW is often tough.

4. What time of year you travel. Although slow Disney times are not necessarily slow DVC times (October and December are very popular DVC times), you will find more availability in September and January than at busier times of the year.

Weekends are easier to book after the 7 month point than weekdays.

I would buy where you want to stay or at the very least buy into a DVC at WDW if you want to go there, it should only get more difficut to get what you want at 7 months as the membership continues to grow.

With the exception of certain unit types and early Dec at WDW, it's usually easy to get something during Adventure and choice at the 7 month window or less.

I agree, we never stay at our home resort(SSR) and have never had a problem. This buy where you want to stay is nonsense. It only makes sense if you always travel peak season or school breaks. Also it only mattersa if you can plan ahead at least 8 months in advance for your trips. You'll be fine especially if you have any flexibility.

We have a contracts at SSR and BWV. I use my BWV for our every other year summer vacation with family (we usually borrow from the next use year to do a great vacation). We like the Boardwalk area for summer trips because of the teenagers that we have in our clan. It has turned out that we use our SSR for our spur of the moment vacations. I have learned to be flexible and that BWV and BCV are usually never available when I try to book a spur of the moment trip. I have not had any problems getting something for our stays outside of SSR.

I just booked SSR for an adult only long weekend trip in October. OKW and SSR had the only available 2 bedroom units (which is what I wanted). I believe that they were the only resorts with available studios (Was willing to do 2 studios for the trip).
