what are the differences between the two? I read about cabanas - which one has them and if both which is the better use of one??

TL is tropical and has less "thrill" ride slides. BB is a winter scene atmosphere. We were at TL this week and LOVED it as a family who doesn't like slides. We did Crush and Gusher and loved it a lot! We did the family raft ride too and the lazy river. All very very good. The wave pool does an hour and a half of BIG waves then a half hour of smaller waves for the smaller kids to enjoy. It has a great small slide area right next to the wave pool that kids love.

Oh the cabanas at TL looked really great but I can't understand the use at all either here or CAstaway Cay so I am not one to ask. Total waste of money in my opinion

I think the cabanas are a huge waste of money. If you arrive reasonably early there is no difficulty in finding chairs in the shade.

Blizzard Beach has more & better waterslides. Typhoon Lagoon has the most thrilling wave pool, and a small snorkeling area. The cabanas at Typhoon Lagoon have roofs, unlike the umbrella-based "Polar Patios" at Blizzard Beach.

Our favorite is Blizzard Beach, because of the greater number of water slides, and I like its melted ski resort theming (Typhoon Lagoon's theme is a tropical island post-hurricane). They're both good water parks, though.

It sounds like typhoon lagoon might be the better choice for a family with a 4 y/o, 2 y/o, and infant?

Not necessarily. Blizzard Beach has a very developed young kids area. Also, I would never put a small child in Typhoon Lagoon's tsunami-type wave pool (though others do...) Blizzard Beach has a more typical wave pool, and both parks have nice lazy rivers. I actually recommend Blizzard Beach.

They'll be too young for the snorkeling or wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon, so there might not be enough for the little ones to do there, though others might disagree.

Thank you for your input! We just bought a house near the mouse so we are excited to try every single thing. We'll give them both a go, eventually we'll grow into it all. :)

Not sure if it is teuw or not but I've always been told Blizzard Beach's water is colder than Typhon Lagoon's since it is suppose to be melted snow. Not like cold enough to make you sick but definitly different. Again may not be true at all but I've heard it more than once.

First time visiting water parks this trip...they both sound fun. Love the themes. :)

We went to both last year. Another big difference is the wave pools. TL has some serious waves and I saw at least 10 people taken off their feet in shin high water. Whereas at BB kids can sit in a tube (tubes not allowed at TL) and relax more.
TL has the shark reef for snorkeling while BB has more slides.
The other thing about BB that is really nice is the ski life to save the knees on the stairs. Also, I thought the food was better at BB, as it last year had turkey legs, which is a family fav.
Enjoy both, you won't go wrong.

I'm not sure if they control the temps in the water or not, but the only difference I notice is the big slides on BB have colder water. The lazy rivers, wave pools and smaller slides seem the same to me. We were just in BB yesterday and TL on Tuesday. I don't know that I'd agree BB has more thrill rides. TL has Humunga Kowabunga, Crush n Gusher and some other really fun ones. The family tube in BB is bigger, so if you have a family of 5 like we do, you can all ride together. TL wave pool is vicious, in a fun way. Just be careful, it WILL knock you down...my knee still hurts after hitting it on the floor 10 days ago. BB kids area is definitely better than TL. The shark reef at TL is fun, really fun, but that water is freezing cold, as in take your breath away cold.

Having grown up in a tropical climate, BB won me over as I've never been in a blizzard. Loved it, just remember that all that fake white snow reflects the heat and you can get a sunburn even if it's overcast. When we tried TL, I get right at home. It is now our family's favorite WP. More shades, great wave pool, and Crush and Gusher! You can't go wrong with either one.

It might just be the slides. I agree the shark reef in TL is super cold as well. I also need prescription goggles so if I want to do it I have to plan in advance and make sure I pack my personal gear so I've only done it once.

I too have been looking at the Cabanas at TL. I see that other folks said they are a waste of money, but given my mom doesn't like to do a lot of the water slides, pretty much only the lazy river, it will be a nice treat for her to sit in some tropical "luxury." There will be six adults on the trip and the cabanas hold six adults, 6 chairs, water/towels, a locker, and 6 refillable drinks mugs are included. For me it's a nice little treat.

One of the biggest differences to our family is the large family tube ride (Teamboat Springs vs. Gangplank Falls). At BB, you don't have to carry it at all (it has a wonderful auto-return process I wish all water parks had). At TL you have to roll it from the base of the ride all the way to the top.

Blizzard Beach doesn't have sand which is a huge positive for a water park. Who wants to deal with sand when they aren't at the beach?

Doesn't one have a significantly longer and more detailed lazy river vs the other? And one LR is deeper than the other? How does the BB wave pool waves compare to the TL waves during the calmer period? How do the kiddie areas compare, is one bigger than the other? I know BB has the ski patrol, but it seems kids need to be a certain height to reach the ropes and be able to swim well for that area or the zip line.
