Differences between Values and Moderates?

Can someone walk me though what the major difference would be between staying at a Value vs a Moderate resort? We'll have a 3 and 4 yr old when we travel and staying during a value season time of year, if that matters.

Is transportation any easier from the moderates than the values?

Are the food courts any less crowded at one place over another?

Do any of them have boat service to EPCOT or DTD or they all rely strictly on bus service?

Thanks!!

I can only speak for POFQ for the moderates. I just stayed there for the first time 6/26 - 7/3 this year. to answer you questions about differences, I found the room to be a little bit bigger, not much. They have 2 sinks, a curtain to close for a changing area separate from tub and toilet. It had a fridge in room for no extra charge. I loved this resort due to it's small size. Only 7 buildings and I was in the last building #7. It was no more than a 5 min. walk to food court and buses. I should let you know that was walking with a poky 4 yr old.

answer to #1 : Buses are the same, you do share buses with POR for Epcot, DTD, both water parks, and AK. You get direct buses to MK and HS. It soesn't take long to pick up POR.

answer to # 2: The food court wasn't to busy seeing there is a smaller group of people staying at the resort. We had no problems.

answer to #3: At the French Quarter you do have boat service to DTD. It takes about 10 - 15 min. to get there and its a beautiful ride and it's also relaxing.

Hope this helps, ans like I said, I could only comment of the French Quarter. What A Beautiful Resort! :)

Differences between values and Mods

1. Mods have queen sized beds whereas values have doubles
2. Mods have some sort of TS restaurant
3. Mods have hot tubs at the pools
4. POR and POFQ have boat service to DTD

Moderates have grass, refrigerators, coffee makers, and water slides. They also have a bit more room and a bit more abstract themes.

Bus service, there's really no difference between any of the resorts, actually. It's all hit or miss. The All Stars share buses, but so do POR and POFQ most times.

POR and POFQ have boats to Downtown Disney.

Difference is nothing more then personal tastes..............

A few corrections:

1. CSR is the only mod with queen-sized beds; CBR, POR and POFQ have doubles.

2. POFQ does not have a TS restaurant, but POR is nearby.

Also, CBR, POR and POFQ have 2 sinks, but CSR only one. Values have one.

All Mods have refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms. Values have neither (but you can rent a fridge for $10/day).

Mods have slides at the pools.

Thanks everyone!! This is all great info! We were planning on a trip this year and staying at the Poly but a family cruise came up (with tons of extended family) so we are opting to do that and save DW for next year. And since the girls will be older next year, we are thinking we'll save the money we'd spend on the convenience of the monorail and stay a longer time but at a less expensive property.

Question about fridges - if you're on the meal plan and if you have the resort mugs, do you find much of a need to have the fridge?

One more thing - I'm leaning towards Pop Century or ASMovies for the Values or if at a Mod then probably POFQ or POR. Do any of those (or ALL) have splash areas for the kids or toddler pools or playgrounds? Is there anything about one over another that would stand out as more enticing for a 3 and 4 yr old? THANKS!!

Ok, here is why I like the moderates over the values, and it won't be popular, and it will paint me in a bad light, but whatever.

It isnt the rooms, it's many other things. Well, OK, it's a little bit the rooms -- moreso, it's the entire grounds of the moderates versus the values. With the mods you have some beautiful landscaping. You have shaded bus stops (and that matters after a 20-minute wait in the Florida sun, you have water and ducks and just a more serene atmosphere than at the values. It's a more relaxing environment.

You will hear people say they "just sleep at the values," and I would say "Well, yes, and there is a reason for that." Who wants to spend a day hanging out there? The moderates are quieter beause when you pay that extra money you get more than a bed and a place to relieve yourself. You get a resort, a complete resort at which you can relax, let the kids play in a nice big pool with big slides (and we all know how important those are).

When you pay less you get less, and you are put with people who are expect less. Sounds snotty, but there it is. Tar and feather me.

NOW that is something my kids would LLLLLOVE!!!

Which resort has the goofy figure by the car?? That one looks cute!

The Mods have some of the worse transportation in disney

Not CSR! Our transportation has always been great at CSR, and many people have posted that they had great transportation at CBR. POFQ and POR share a bus, and I think POFQ gets picked up and dropped off first.

Completely agree.

Completely disagree. CSR was only better than CBR imo, everytime we visit we decide on not wanting to stay there or CBR because of the ridiculous buses!

That's Pop also, it's in a slightly different location but it's one of those pop up jet fountain things. I wish I had a picture... I'm sure someone does.

ETA: I do have it, on the other side of that building in the background is the Hippy Dippy pool (the main pool) and that zero entryy kiddie playground.

We have stayed at all levels. my kids love POP & we liked it too. The FC at POP is wonderful. We were not on the Dining Plan & we still only used the fridge at other resorts for water & leftovers. I never thought the fridges got cold enough. We do miss the hot hub when stay at a value.

I never waited more than 15 min for a bus the entire week of thanksgiving at CSR last year.

It wasn't the wait times because imo, they're all essentailly the same at any resort when it comes to buses. Every resort can be hit or miss at different times... but it was getting there and having like 5 bus stops until we got to the main building that I didn't like. I don't like it about other resorts also so it's just not CSR. I don't like it about CBR especially since it's the most spread out, more than CSR. Which is too bad because I like the theme of both resorts... but oh well.

I just really like only having point a to point b bus service at Pop, it's the ONLY resort that doesn't ever share another bus with another resort or has more than on internal stop.

:goodvibes
