Hi :wave2:
I have looked and looked at both AKV’s and for the life of me, I can’t figure out the differences? I know one is the main building(Kidani?) but I’m not sure what the differences are aside from that? And we’ve been there and eaten at all the TS :laughing:It seems that the DVC member preference is for Jambo and I just want to make sure I’m not missing some major factor if I book Kidani, one day. My kids want to see animals from their room and both offer savanna views so without the help of you lovely people, I’d just go with whatever had availability. :magnify::surfweb:
Many TIA!!

You aren't missing anything, and I wouldn't worry over which building you get as both are lovely. As you say, Jambo is the main building and houses more amenities in terms of QS, shopping, and restaurants (Boma and Jiko). Kidani has the better pool and one of the best TS restaurants in the World with Sanaa. You can also park under the building at Kidani which is very nice in the blazing sun of summer. Again, I would take either section and not think twice about it.

I second Sleepydog above. Jambo is the main building, but Kidani holds its own in every respect. I love both buildings. I own DVC contracts at both buildings. Not that the different buildings for contracts makes any difference at all. Jambo has two nice restaurants and the morning quick service restaurant. Kidani has an excellent restaurant in Sanna and sometimes you could even get some breakfast things in there. They both have nice pools, they both have their own small advantages. You will be happy at either. And there is a shuttle that runs back-and-forth between both buildings about every 10 minutes. You just walk out the front door Tto get on it And you will be at the next building in just a couple of minutes. The biggest advantage is that they are both Animal Kingdom Villas, and they are both done very well.

Other relatively minor points. Jambo has a bigger lobby which is pretty incredible. One of the great lobbies of the world. Kidani has the largest collection of African folk art in the world, scattered throughout it. The restaurants Jambo has are good but having the quick service restaurant in the building is a nice advantage whereas Kidani doesn’t have that. Though,as I said, sometimes you can eat breakfast at Sanaa. The DVC rooms at Jambo tend to be slightly smaller and they are all two bedroom lock off as far as I know. Kidani has dedicated two bedrooms as well as Lock offs. Sanaa in Kidani is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney World. Kidani does not have a quick service restaurant but the trip to Jambo is very quick, and Kidani also has the advantage that the buses to the parks stop at that building, before going on to Jambo, so you are more likely to have plenty of space on the bus. Both buildings are large, but Kidani is incredibly large, and long, from one end to the other. Request a room near the Pumba elevator (I believe that is the one) to be reasonably close to the lobby, and to the underground parking, and the walkway to Jambo, if you decide to walk. (About a quarter mile walk, from building to building.) All of the DVC villas at Jambo are on the fifth floor. Whereas at Kidani they are on all the floors, so you can request a higher floor or a lower floor at Kidani. Finally, because Kidani is so much larger, and is ALL DVC, it has many many more rooms and much better availability than Jambo. I will take either building at any time. I do recommend getting the Savannah view, because it is so special. As far as I know, there is not a single other resort or hotel in the United States where you can sit out on your balcony and watch ‘wild’ African animals meander around, here and there.

The lack of a QS at Kidani is a negative for some people. Jambo has more of a wow factor with that stunning lobby. The DVC rooms at Jambo are converted hotel rooms and are located only on the 4th and 5th floors. Kidani was built as a DVC hotel.

Wherever you end up, you can use the pool located at the other!

I only booked Jambo if It was the only building there or I was getting a CM discount to book a hotel room. We prefer one bedroom villas for the two of us and Jambo one bedrooms are not as nice. No separate shower, just the tub shower combo at JH. JH is converted hotel rooms so the master bath isn't in the master bedroom. There isn't the extra bathroom in JH like in KV.

I don't spend time in the lobby so the bigger lobby at JH isn't important at all to me.

It's a ten minute walk between the two buildings. Not a big deal.

5th and 6th floors, not 4th and 5th

Thank you so much!!!! Sanaa is our favorite as well(the bread service is my profile pic!)! I appreciate all of the info!

Thank you!! I shall rest easy then, wherever we end up!

I hope you caught the mention about the difference in bathrooms, if you’re booking 1 BR or larger. Kidani has 2 full bathrooms in the 1 BR and 3 in the 2 BR. With three kids the ages that yours are, that might be helpful! Also, the single bathroom in the 1 BR at Jambo is across a hallway from the master bedroom and has only a tub/shower that has a high, wide rim around it. As an adult I found it difficult to get in and out of it. The Kidani master has an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and separate tub.

I much prefer Kidani to Jambo for the bathroom situation as well as parking under the building (sheltered from rain and heat) instead of far out in the parking lot.

I did! I think I’d most definitely be trying to book a 2br savanna at Kidani. However, if it wasn’t available, I’m sure we could “make do” :D with JH. Thanks for the insight!

Jambo standard view rooms in some cases are better than Kidani savannah view rooms in terms of view.
Kidani has the additional bathroom in 1 BR and larger.
Jambo has the quick serve restaurant.

We own at Kidani, have stayed at Kidani 4 times. After the last visit where we had a horrible savanna view room of nothing, we tried just a standard room at Jambo. Both times at Jambo we had standard room views far superior to the Kidani savanna room we had.
