Can someone tell me the difference in cruising the EBTA and the WBTA ?
Which do you prefer and why ? We're Platinum but have never done a transatlantic. If DCL doesn't offer an Eastern Mediterranean we might do a TA OR even if they do, I don't want to sail out of Barcelona as we've sailed out of there twice and I'm hoping they'll sail out of Venice or Rome.

I have been on 1 eastbound and 2 westbound Transatlantic cruises, but not on DCL. The biggest itinerary difference on DCL was that the westbound included 2 ports in the Caribbean instead of Cadiz and an overnight in Barcelona - as on the eastbound. You lose an hour per time zone as you sail east, and you gain an hour per time zone as you travel west.

Most TA itineraries are short on ports and long on sea days, but there are a few exceptions.

also it depends on where your flying from, if your coming from north america you have the long flight at the beginning or your trip for the WBTA where as for the EBTA you have it at the end.

WBTA is 6 hours longer as you have many nights of setting the clocks back an hour.

Seriously, the series of 23 hour days gets a little old....25 is much nicer. More sleep, or more gym time to work off that food.:confused3

big plus of the EBTA is the ability to bring on alcohol brought from home....true you lose a 6 hours over 15 days but that's easier than 6 hours all at once to me.

If you do the WBTA are you able to buy alcohol in the European port and bring it onboard or do they not allow you to do that over there? I agree its easier to bring from home but I'm just curious if you mean that its easier doing it from home than having to find a liquor store abroad to buy it or if you can't even bring it at all onboard departing from Europe?

It really isn't that big of deal - we bought plenty of alchohol both in Barcelona the morning of the cruise, and in Gibraltar where we stopped about 3 days later. Kind of fun, actually, to get a lot of different kinds of cider in Gibraltar.

i mean actually bring wine(alcohol:stir:) that you have had a home for special occasions. or beer:drinking1: that might be special to you. not just anything you can get at any liquor store. otherwise i agree buy stuff in Europe and drink coming back then use you alcohol allowance to bring some home. : party :
