I tried to get a ressie for the Chef's Table but they were fully booked. Can someone tell me how the regular Victoria & Albert's compares? I had my heart set on the Chef's Table, so will I be disappointed?

Thanks.

I can't help you because we have only eaten at the CT, but I know there have been a few people on here who were able to get the CT menu (at the CT price) in the regular dining room. You might try to find out more if this would be something you would be interested in! :goodvibes

We have been to Victoria and Albert's dining room twice and absolutely LOVED IT! We had tried to get the Chef's Table both times and had been unsuccessful but believe me we did not leave feeling like we had settled in the least! We are (FINALLY) going to the Chef's Table this fall -- I will let you know after how they compare.

If you have never been to V&A, you will LOVE the regular side of the restaurant. The Chef's Table I feel is for those who have already been to V&A and want a different experience....you sit in the kitchen area and are treated to MANY courses explained by the chef. You will still have FABOULOUS food and excellent service in the dining room...DO IT!!! There is only one Chef's Table per night and it is hard to snag...did it once, got denied once....so we are back to the dining room...no worries!!

I agree with engle. We've dined at V&A a number of times but only did the Chef's Table once. It's a different experience and lots of fun but the main dining room is much more romantic. I prefer it most times.

I've never done the Chefs table but I can't imagine you'll be disappointed with the main dining room. V&A was the best meal I've ever eaten in my life, and I can't wait to return.

We've done both, and liked the dining room better.

When you're at the CT, you are in the middle of all the action. If you're a foodie, it's fun to watch, but I found myself a bit intimidated by all the hub-bub, and didn't want to get in anyone's way (and screw up someone's dinner!).

The chef comes by and chats with you a few times and asks if you have any allergies or anything, and answers any questions about the restaurant and the food.

But the main dining room is romantic and elegant and magical. You'll like! :goodvibes

You can order the Chef's Table menu in the main dining room. Israel (the maitre'd) confirmed that when we were there earlier this month.

He said they need advance warning because you'll basically be taking up two seatings. I didn't ask if you should say that when booking, but I would mention it. And give the restaurant a call a few days in advance to confirm.

We haven't tried it yet, but we may when we go back in October. It really is a ton of food and wine. You need to prepare :) The first time we did the Chef's table I could only eat one bite of the one dessert I hadn't tried before, and I couldn't finish all of the previous course. I did better the next time.
