This is probably a dumb question but is the only difference between a Standard and Water Room the view or are you paying the extra for anything else?

Not a dumb question at all! :)

The water views can include a room in a building not on the water, but the water can be seen through the trees. We once had a "water view" room but could only see the water if the wind blew the tree in front of the windows. LOL

Definitely some wonderful views from some of the water view rooms, but just know there is a chance it might not be a full view of the water, but very limited. You could check the FQ map and request a building, but since it is only a request it's taking a chance if you really want a full view of the water.

Otherwise the rooms are identical - nothing different. FQ has lots of pretty views - quaint squares, courtyards and fountains.

Enjoy your stay!!

Since there are no balconies at any of the mods, I don't think it's worth it to pay extra for a waterview.

We stayed there once and requested a water view and they give us a view overlooking the pool but you could not see the pool because of a tree. We did like the resort, it is a very nice place and if you got a view of the river it would be extra nice.

Thanks for the replies, so the view is the only difference. In a resort like POFQ it doesn't seem worth paying the extra as many of the views will be good because of the landscaping, etc. and after all how long do you actually spend in the room anyway.

Thanks again

The view is the only difference (and as noted, Disney's "waterview" could mean anything from a full view of the river to an obstructed view of a birdbath LOL), and the rooms with the best waterviews, along the river, are further from the main building/food court/bus stop than the less expensive standard view rooms.

At resorts without balconies, I don't think paying for an upgraded view makes much sense, since you aren't all that likely to hang out on the walkway outside the room to enjoy it. And I think it makes even less sense at POFQ, because that upgraded view that you may or may not take the time to enjoy means being further from the amenities that you're likely to use every day.

just one note, in many mods, having the upgrade view, can land you a closer spot to the food court, pools, buses etc

So while you might not be hanging out for the view, you can cut your walk time down 10-15min depending on size of room

For us, that is a few hours of walking over a full week and very much worth the price.

We had a water view on one trip, and as mentioned before we couldnt see the pool because of the trees. Also with no balcony if you left the curtains open people would look into your room as they were walking past. No real view. The resort is so small I dont think walking is a real issue. Its a wonderful mod resort!!!!!:goodvibes
