Difference between standard and preferred at BWV

I'm new to all the DVC stuff - hoping to rent points for a stay next August. I noticed it is less points for a standard 2BR than a preferred. Is this a view difference, or is it because of location?

It's a view difference. Actually there are 3 views, the 2 categories of preferred are the same number of points.

Standard - looks mainly out at the front driveway.
Preferred Boardwalk - looks out on the boardwalk
Preferred pool/garden - looks out at main & quiet pool & garden areas.

Standard views at BW go fast,they are very popular. So you'll want to find someone who owns there and book now for next August.

Daughter is there now and she said her SV reservation got her a room on the first floor by the main pool. It is HA, which she doesn't mind ( some people do) although she doesn't need it, so don't know if this was an upgrade or if there are some 1st floor pool view rooms that are considered standard view. She likes being able to exit the room and go directly to the pool. I think she just got very lucky.

In August we had a 2 bedroom at the end of the hall. It had a great view. To the side, we saw the canal and Tower of Terror. It was a long walk, and a great SV!
