So if I do drink soda, I go for Diet Coke or if there's nothing left, I'll get Coke Zero. What's the difference? They're both calorie-free. The nutrition labels look the same.

Thanks!

Different recipes - with the main difference being the artificial sweetener used. Coke Zero is supposed to taste more like "real" Coke.

Lets not forget, they now have Diet Coke with Splenda to just to really confuse everybody. :confused3

They both have aspartame. I'm still trying to find out the difference.

Coke Zero tastes a lot more like regular Coke to me. I just tried Diet Coke with Splenda the other day, and it didn't taste like Diet Coke OR regular Coke, so I don't know what the deal was there.

I was a diet coke addict until I tried coke zero, which I think tastes pretty much like regular coke.

I didn't like the coke with splenda at all.

I agree that Coke Zero tastes more like regular Coke. I have no idea why but it does.

Yes they both are sweetened with aspartame. Coke Zero has something else added that is supposed to cut the taste of the aspartame. I forget what it's called but if you look at the label, you'll see what's different. I do not like Diet Coke at all, but I do like Coke Zero. To me it kind of tastes in between Diet Coke and regular Coke. I especially like Diet Cherry Coke and Cherry Coke Zero. I honestly don't notice a difference between those two at all.

Wow, how did you guys find this thread? :rotfl:

I haven't tried the splenda coke.

Sorry, that was me. I used the Search Function and looked for "Coke Zero". My husband and I were talking about it and he said he thought it had splenda in in. So I looked at the label at the store and it said aspertame. Just wanted to know.

No need to apologize! I was just surprised when I saw it. :)

OP - GREAT question. And this weekend, my nephew asked me for a sprite -- and I said I have diet sprite and he said no you don't, it's sprite ZERO.

Same thing? different? who knows...................................:rotfl2:

I used to drink a lot of "diet" sodas. Being diabetic I thought it was an OK thing to do. Boy was I wrong. My Dr. talked me into quitting for 7 days, I lost 6 pounds that week. The diet sodas can make people crave carbs. Not a good thing for most, especially diabetics.

She told me to try the drinks with Splenda, in moderation, like 12oz a day. Not the 48 or 72 I had been drinking a day.

The first 3 days I went off sodas I had a bit of caffeine withdrawl. A half of a No-Doz helped with that. (I hate coffee)

I'm still losing weight, about 2 - 3 lbs a week. Now that some nice weather is here I'll be doing some more walking, that helps a lot too.

Oh Yeah, google aspartame, that can be some really nasty stuff for the body.

I am calling my mom (the Diet Coke addict, like me:thumbsup2 ) right now about your experience. We were just talking about this.
I didnt like Coke Zero. It smelled like regular Coke:goodvibes , but the taste was not good for me.:confused3
Sadly sipping my caffeine free diet coke, knowing very well how bad it is for me.

I was diagnosed with diabetes over 3 years ago. Prior to that I would easily drink a 2-litre of Coke at night, not to mention all of the Coke I drank during the day. LOTS!

I had drank Diet Pepsi before and really like it. Infact, I liked it better than regular Pepsi, but I hated Diet Coke. When Coke Zero came out a couple of years ago, I was sooooo happy. Finally they made a diet drink that tasted the same as the original. I still drink it today, although only 1 or 2 cans tops.

Coke Zero and Diet Coke are not meant to be similar in any way. Zero is meant to taste like the original Coke. Diet Coke was born out of the "New Coke" craze from the mid-80's. Although "New Coke" was a flop, Diet Coke was a hit. Now it has a huge following and most of the people who drink Diet Coke could not go back to regular, nor do many of them like Coke Zero.

The soda companies have done a good job with their latest diet drinks. Sprite Zero and Pepsi's Sierra Mist Free are very good and taste very much like the originals. Diet Dr. Pepper is also quite good, but I wish Coke would introduce a Diet Mr. Pibb.

Gee, can you tell I like soda's?

I am not a Coke drinker but love Sprite. I never liked the diet version but the Sprite Zero version is wonderful.

I used to hate diet coke, and only liked the regular. Then, I *made* myself drink diet coke because the regular just has soooo many empty calories. Now, I am a diet coke addict and whenever I take a sip of a regular coke...blech! I hate coke zero too, probably because it tastes like the regular coke. I'll stick with my diet coke, thank you very much!

Try Pibb Zero. It is pretty good. Hopefully you can get it in your area.

I LOVE Coke Zero. I only allow myself one a day, but I really like it much better than Diet Coke. I saw Cherry Coke Zero at Walmart yesterday but I somehow restrained myself from buying it. I'm waiting for a sale at Shop Rite
