Difference a week makes

Our plans are set, secept for the hotel booking. Cannot change dates because of 4 day Wonder Cruise and school starting. We need 8/17-21 and using AP the cost at RP is $211 APH and $210.60 AAA - but if you put in 8/25 date the cost is $159 for AAA or $179 for APH. Those prices are not as cheap as I have had in the past but sure beats the $200 mark. Any guesses if the week earlier prices will come down? This is always the time frame, sometimes even 1 or 2 weeks earlier we go and have always had the low rates. Yes I have been reading all the posts and know this year rates are not as low but I would be ready and willing to go for the $159.

What # are you calling or what website are you using for rates and reservations? I have yet to find either of the 3 PB, RP and HRH under $200.

The official Universal site. Put in 8/25-27, use APH and AAA and see what you get. I just did this before posting.

I actually had to call-888-273-1311 and asked for those same dates and got the same rate as you.

*Observation*
I noticed the dates of 8/25-8/27 was Thurs-Sat. (AAA rate: $159 Standard Room) (works for me!)
I also had her check 8/26-8/28 (Fri-Sun) but the rate came back to over $200 per night

Do you think "weekDay" day travel is cheaper than "weekEnd" travel? I don't travel much so forgive my *travel ignorance*

I never thought about a family vacation on a weekDay. We are flexible.

No, I don't think the rates will come down for the 1st two weeks of August. All of July and those 1st two weeks are prime time, it's when everyone is out of school and the parks are most busy. Check the park calendar here and you'll see what I mean.

Notice the hours drop from 10pm all the way down to 7pm at the end of the month. Most kids are back in school by the middle of August and the place is a ghost town. The parks know this, which is why they can charge the high rates.

I got the AAA rate of $159.20 on the weekdays and weekend-days when I booked.
