I know 5 & 6s have windows.
I know 8 & 9s have verandahs.

But, what's the difference within each?????

# sleeping in each or what? thanks!!!!!

:bounce: can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 and 6 are identical
8 and 9 are identical

It is merely the location on the ship.

5 is higher than 6 deckwise
8 is higher than 9 deckwise

Cats. 8 and 9 have porthole windows actually...

Catsjammies.......

I noticed you have it reversed.......
8 and 9 have windows and 5 and 6 have verandahs......

Category 9's on Deck 2 are identical to Category 8's.

Category 9's on Deck 1 have a pair of miniature portholes instead of the single giant porthole that the 8's and Deck 2 9's have.

Doesn't cat 5's hold 3 people max but cat 6's can hold 4 people?? I wanted deck 5 veranda stateroom and was told they only allow up to 3 people. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll attempt to switch!!

No, 5's and 6's will both hold up to 4 people. <b><i>Most</i></b> Category 7's (I'm not sure about the former Category 6's that were recently reclasssified as 7's) will only hold 3 people.

Category 7, the staterooms with Navigator's Verandahs (on decks 5, 6 and 7), only hold 3 guests, maximum.

Category 5 (on deck 7) and Category 6 (on decks 5 and 6) staterooms hold 3 or 4 guests, maximum, depending on the stateroom.

It gets confusing when 5 is on 7, and 7 is on 5 (and 6 and 7), and 7 accomodates 3, and 4 accomodates 5, but 5 only accomodates 4, and so on...

My bad! I think I may be confusing the category 6 on deck 5. Or, maybe there were just no veranda staterooms left on deck 5 that hold 4 people. Sorry to add to the confusion! :o

There are rooms in categories 5, 6, 8, and 9 that hold 4 people. We are a family of 4 who have stayed in categories 6 and 8. I don't think there is really much difference between a 5 and 6, but I do feel that there is a difference between 8 and 9. The cat. 9 with the little portholes are on deck 1 which is way down in the ship. Unless you are really into walking, you will need to take elevators to get anywhere. The cat 9 on deck 2 have nicer windows, but in my opinion, they are also too far down in the ship. I like the cat 8 which are on decks 5, 6, 7. Deckwise these are more centrally located to all the activities so we could use stairs instead of elevators. The elevators are always crowded and they take a long to come.

On my May 12 Wonder cruise, they issued a green sheet with info on the "<I>Suggested Self-Guided Walking Tour</I>." On the back of that sheet it had General Information that included stateroom descriptions. This is an exact quote for Cat. 7:

"<B>Category 7:</B> Deluxe outside staterooms w/Navigator's Verandah, accommodate 3 or <B>4</B>"

That's right! It said 3 or <B>4</B>. This was in May, long before the reclassification of the obstructed rooms. As a p/t TA, this conflicts with everything I ever knew about Cat. 7, but I just wanted you to be aware of what DCL put out!
