Welcome to our new members:welcome:

Kristi,

Thank you for taking the time to put together the roll call!!! :worship: Now if I can remember which real names go with which Dis names I'll be in good shape :rotfl:

Gailyn :)

Welcome Connie :welcome::welcome:

We also just joined the group. The KSF deal was too good to pass up and the match with the kid's spring break was a bonus!! :cool1:

So I have been going back and forth the last day about changing our 2 Cat. 10 SPH cabins to a Cat. 4 and take part in the KSF promo. I just hate having to pay for the 2 kids as adults, when most of the rest of the ship is getting kids for free. Now if we did change to the Cat. 4, I would really, really want to try and upgrade at the port to a Cat. 3 (suite) I know we would never be able to afford a suite any other way.

So I would be taking a big gamble if we switched to a Cat. 4. There are only 8 Cat. 3's left on the ship. Those could easily sell out the next 9 months. I am just stuck and do not know what to do. One part of me is saying leave well enough alone and be happy with the 2 cabins and OBC we got. Another part of me is thinking we would possibly get a suite for just $1000 or so more than what we are currently paying. Again it is a total gamble.

I need to act fast if we are going to switch though. The KSF promo for the Cat. 4's is already at a GTY status.

Kristi - Let me know what you do as I will have my TA watch for those to open up ;) - Laura

Kristi- This is my thoughts:idea: Maybe it will help you out.
Which is cheaper? The KSF promotion or the OBC and 2 cabins? What is the price difference?

How much time our you going to spend in your cabin? On our last cruise(june) and our upcoming cruise(december) we have/had 2 cabins next door for our family of four. It was so nice to have 2 bathrooms and two showers plus all the extra space for our stuff( We can't seem to pack on the light side;)) and did I mention 2 tv's it was wonderful to say the least:cloud9: We didn't have to watch cartoons all the time. My girls are young so we didn't feel comfortable letting them sleep in a cabin without an adult(they didn't/don't connect) so when it was time to go to bed we slept 1A 1C in a cabin which was nice since that meant Cory and I had a queen size bed to our self. I have read that some family use baby monitors when there kids our in rooms next to each other.

On the other hand a cat 4 would mean a balcony and a possable upgrade to a suite( which is a gamble) Plus with only 8 cat 3 its not a huge amount of cabins to begin with but if your cat 4 is at a GTY satus you may have a chance at getting a free upgrade(I'de keep my fingers crossed for you)

I guess my advice (with your kids age)would be to keep the 2 cabins if your not going to spend much time in your cabin and want the extra space x 2,bathroom,shower and tv's. If you plan on eating in your room and spending a lot of time in it then go with the cat4.

HTH

P.S I wanted to add that even when Cory and I would just read or relax when the kids were in the clubs we would usually be on a deck,by the pool, or in one of the lounges.
Plus when we came back from the beaches it was so nice to have 2 showers available at the same time. It made getting ready so much easier and quicker!

Hello. My name is Miriam and my family and I will be on this cruise. My family consists of my Dh, myself, and my two kids. Isabella is 5 (she will be six when we go on the cruise) and C.J. (Christopher Jacob) is 1. His b-day is on July 18 so he will be 2 in April. We are very excited and can't wait. This is our first cruise ever. My main goal is to have C.J. potty trained so he can go to the kids club and in the main swimming pool.

Miriam

Hi, Miriam! :wave2: Welcome to the group! You and your family are going to have a wonderful time.

There are lots of experienced cruisers on this thread so don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. :)

Dany

Thanks Laura for your advice, I appreciate it. Those are all great points. I just rethink things way too much. I think I am going to stay with what I have. 2 rooms is very important to us. My DH might go nuts if we were all crammed in the Cat. 4. My kids (especially the 2 year old) is a really poor sleeper. Hoping things improve in the 9 months. Nighttime is stressful for us in hotels. At least with the connecting rooms we can close the door a little and not wake up the older 2 kids.

Hi Mirian!! Welcome to the cruise. I will add you to our roll call. I have a son that just turned 2 in May. That was my goal to have him potty trained and in the clubs too. I got him potty trained 2 days before his 2nd birthday. However we are having some accidents and he still needs my assistance. I hope to have that worked out in 9 months. For our sanity, we need to drop him off in the clubs. Nice to know there will be another little guy in the clubs with him.

Hi everyone! We are joining your cruise! Am canceling an Eastern May 2011 for this cruise. Can't wait for 10 DAYS! It will be me, dh, dd 4(almost 5) and ds 3.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Thanks for the welcome! Frankly I am a little surprise that we are not seeing a big jump in numbers from the kids sail free promo. Anyway, on our last cruise, one of the Disers created a website for our cruise and I thought I'd offer to do it for this cruise. Check out the website and let me know if you think it's a good idea.

:welcome: A BIG WELCOME to everyone I missed!! party:

Kristi, I really feel for you! But it sounds like you really need to stay with what you have because you keep coming back to the 2 rooms. I started to consider an upgrade with the KSF but then decided that I am waiting until we get to the port for any upgrades. ;)

Travelbee, the website sounds good to me. Someone did one on our Hawaiian circle in 08 and it was really nice. We also had our photos on a webshots account too. By the time we all met, we knew each other by name and face. :goodvibes

Welcome, TNShellBelle! I saw your thread asking if others felt safe on the MR and I'm glad you decided to try it. I think you'll love the cruise! Especially the 5 sea days. :goodvibes

That is an amazing website! Someone really put a lot of work into it. I love the idea of having all the information in one place, so :thumbsup2 from me!

Love it! That would be great to have one for us! Thank you for offering. I see you're in Westminster...welcome, another So Cal DISer! I went to high school in Irvine and then college at UC Irvine, so I know where you are. We live in the Temecula Valley now but get down to the OC often. You're nice and close to Dland!!! Lucky you!

Did I miss something? Is there a reason not to feel safe on the MR? We did the MR in '05 and the PC in '08 (which stopped in Aca, Cabo, PV...and somewhere else in Mexico that slips my mind, lol) and all was fine. Just wondering if I missed hearing something about travelling the MR (not that it would matter...I could stay on DCL even if it only went out to sea for 10 days :rotfl:)

No worries! It has been asked on the main board because newbies to the MR are asking if things happen there. I haven't been to the MR, so I will treat it like any other place I travel to, especially a third-world country...don't make myself and family targets. :thumbsup2

I do however personally know 2 different families that traveled to Barcelona within the past 6 months and both were robbed the day they got there. Both flew in. So it's good to keep your eyes open everywhere. :confused3

No, you didn't miss anything, TNShellBelle was just asking because some friends had mentioned possible issues to her, probably related to the drug violence in the border towns we hear so much about. Everyone on the thread reassured her that the tourist towns we visit are as safe as those in any other foreign countries and that with normal precautions all will be fine. I've done the MR several times and have no worries about safety in those towns at all.

I completely agree. I need to stop obsessing over this and be thrilled with the rooms we already have. If I mess with a good thing, I will end up screwing it up and really kicking myself.

Connie, I loved that site you posted. What a fun cruise, I wish I was on it. That would be great to have our own site. Unfortunately, I have no HTML experience. If you feel up for it, go for it. That would really be fun.

Kristi, I tend to obsess too...though I like to think of it as thinking through every step carefully!... No one else seems to care!!:lmao: I do agree with the other posters we have 4 kids and go for the exta room everytime! ....and now that my girls are teenagers, the extra bathroom is a must!!
