Dieting for Disney

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday!
Yes, I was at the same weight for over 3 1/2 weeks...UGH!
Finally, this morning it broke when I added some extra walking and 3 full days of heavy yard work. I will say that was a tough one but I know I still have to push on.

The thing most confusing to me is that I'm not yet close to my goal so I'm surprised this has happened a few times already.

I am down 2 dress sizes and actually felt good & "light" in a summer dress going to work this morning.

I hope you all have a terrific productive week.

Maria

My metabolism has slowed down because I'm going through menopause.:( I've been trying to motivate myself to exercise but sometimes it's really hard to start especially when I get home from work. I use to be really dedicated about sticking to an exercise routine, but I'm trying.

I guess I'll jump onto this post:

I leave for Disneyland September 12 and want to get down 30 pounds (I've already lost 7 since April, but I need to get my butt in gear since I have this habit of losing the weight and then having a "bad weekend" or whatever and gaining it all back :rotfl2: ). Seriously, even if I just lose 20 or 25 pounds I will be happy, but 30 is my goal! :thumbsup2

Hey Team!! Let me first say :welcome: :welcome: to our 2 new members/visitors, katy621 and NWPrincess. We welcome you and hope that you find support and information that will help you achieve your goals. Please let us know if we can help in anyway.

I will post an exercise update tomorrow. Right now, I am going to follow thru with what I said I was going to do on Sunday. I think I posted this a good while back but we have had a lot of new members since then so here we go.

We all have come here to find aid, assistance and motivation to help with our weightloss so here is some assistance. Here are some foods that will help speed up your metabolism. I hope you find this helpful and interesting.

Chili Peppers, Flaxseed, Soy, Green Tea, Tomatoes, Milk, Nuts, Olive Oil, Olives, Water, Whole fruits, Whole grains, Yogurt, and fatty fish (salmon, herring, mackerel and black cod)

Try adding some of these to your diets and see if it aids with a faster metabolism.

Hope everyone is having a great week.:yay: :woohoo:

Thanks bubba73. I'm looking forward to giving and receiving motivation and support.

To talk about motivation--In a recent survey, message board users lost more weight and stayed with the program longer than non-posters.

So Keep Posting! :thumbsup2

W.I.S.H. also inspired me to exercise for 60 minutes today (that's the first time in 2 weeks since I got sick)!

Thanks for this list of foods! I have noticed that I tend to lose weight when I eat yogurt. I have started making smoothies for myself at night to curb my need for junk food, especially ice cream. I take one cup of frozen strawberries (whole and not the ones with syrup or any added sugar), one serving of strawberry yogurt (Yoplait, Dannon, or any other kind you may like), one third cup fat-free milk, a banana, and some chipped ice. I blend it all together and it make one delicious smoothie - enough for two servings. I have not calculated the calories, but I am sure that it somewhere around 100-150 calories per serving (remember, this makes two servings). One serving is really filling, especially if you use yogurt with added fiber.

I am going to try and ween myself from having these at night and instead have one for breakfast.

First off I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY twotoohappy!pixiedust: :cake: :bday: :dogdance: Don't feel bad celebrating!

Also, I like to say hello to our new posters and everyone! Thank you for always making me feel welcome!:lovestruc

I usually only get a chance to post on Friday or Monday on my progress, but I thought I would be different and go on Thursday. (And, because I am going out of town for DH b-day this weekend! :rotfl: )

This week has been going good. I am happy to say that my new water class is going great!! I made it the first day (monday) and then I missed tuesday (I fell and twisted my knee), but made it back wednesday and thursday! :cool1: I am so glad to be back in the water! I just feel so good. I might not be the greatest in the gym, but give me a pool and I can exercise FOREVER!!:yay:

Well, I just thought I would share! Hope everyone else is having a great week!! Keep it up, we can do it!

Happy Birthday!:wizard:

~tomorrow is a fresh start~

When it's your birthday, you shouldn't worry about what you eat for the day. However, I wouldn't suggest gorging on food either. Birthdays should be fun, happy days without having to stress over much. Just pick up where you left off tomorrow and count your calories. I doubt that one day will do any damage provided you continue watching your calories for the rest of the week.

Team DFD! I think I have been MIA around more than usual. It's not that I am trying to stay away or anything. I have been doing a lot of training recently. I am still riding the bike a lot but I am also doing more walking as well. Plus doing my strength training and regular job has been keeping me very busy. For instance, today I did a total of 23 miles worth of cardio, worked out my biceps and I still feel like I need to do more. I am planning on doing a lot of ab work tonight and if I still can't go to sleep, I will go for a walk.

Good news is that my eye feels good. My toe is feeling better and I am looking forward to a great week of training. I have a couple of goals that I have set forth for myself that has peaked my motivation to a new high level. Higher than it has been in years. 1) I am getting really close to actually being able to see ab muscles. For me, that is really exciting. 2) I want to get in my best physical condition so I can do the Family 5k respectfully in January. (and if I feel like I can, even the half. Liz, don't count me out yet, Sis!)

How is everyone else doing? This is a new week. What are we doing to make sure that we can achieve our goals. We have to set short term and long term goals. Make them achievable and then do what it takes to obtain them. Everyone of you are winners. Now, let's go out there and WIN!!!

Take care all of you!
Bryan:yay: :woohoo:

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to include other things into my week like simple things I usually would ask DH to do....moving around huge bags of potting soil and more outside things.
Today I went to pilates and I have private classes scheduled for Wed. & Fri also. My "core" needs major work.
Tonight DH & I just walked around the block it was still 94 degrees & very humid.
Tomorrow I work for home and will do some cardio on the glider.

I hope everyone else is great & wish someone lived near for a walking buddy, DH is working on his masters and that is what he has been doing most nights, he walks at his lunchtime with a friend.

Goodnight All......;)

Hi all! Hopefully some of you still remember me?? :rolleyes1

I'm so behind with this thread! I was in Vegas for a week (good times!) and have been sick with a nasty cold ever since. I haven't been able to exercise, but I've been eating well at least. Must get back on track as soon as I'm feeling better so as to lose some of those Vegas buffet pounds!

Hope everyone is doing well so far this summer!! :goodvibes

HI EVERYONE!! It is so good to see everyone!! We have been really quiet around here....:rolleyes1

Welcome back CJK!!! I do remember your name around here, but I don't know if you remember me or not. :confused3 So, allow me to introduce myself...I am Evita_W!:hippie: I am glad you enjoyed your Vegas trip. I am sorry though that you haven't been feeling well. Hope everything gets better soon.

Maria, it is so nice to see you. I hope the heat is not getting too much for you. Believe me, I know how you feel right now. Thankfully, we are cooler now, but a few weeks ago was HOT!! I love summer, but hate the heat.

Bryan, glad to hear that things are going better. Seeing you report your progress is such motivation for me. I want to be able to work out as hard as you. But, little by little...I WILL!!

Still doing my Water class....going from 60-90 a time. I am trying to get out 4 times a week, but so far only 3 times a week. But, the good thing is that everyday I am getting out at least twice a day so I do not become a veg during the day. :yay: Every little bit helps.

Ok, keep it up everybody!! I just love seeing everyone around here! We can do it!

You too;)....It is 100 degrees today & humid! There are brown outs and the heat index is 110 in some places....Unbelievable!

CJK My Canadian Sister has come back to me. I have missed you so much around here. You are always full of motivation and inspiration for me. Between the posts that I have gotten from you and Liz (Twotoohappy), I feel like I can accomplish anything. I am so sorry to hear that you have been sick but I am glad that you had a good time in Vegas. Please come back and stay in touch with us around here.

Did somebody mention evening walks? I just got finished with an evening walk. Actually, I did my version of a bi-athlon. While I was at the gym, I rode the bike for 24 miles and then I went to the track. At the track, I walked 7 miles which is a personal best for me (previous record was 5 miles). I averaged a pace of 15 minutes per mile which I am proud of considering that the distance was uncharted territory for me. Otherwise, my workouts are going real good. I am getting DW and DD to join in with me on my walks. They are not going at the same pace but they are getting out there and doing it which is half of the battle so I am proud of them.

I am really very proud of everyone of you. You are all trying to be more active than what you have been accustomed too. After a short time, it is easy to give up and quit but there are no quiters here. As the commercial says, "We are trying to be a size more active!". That really is a great quote and philosophy. My problem is that I want to be a size "ripped, cut and able to do the mile in less than 10 minutes". Boy, do I have a long way to go!! I guess I will need to be more active!

Let's get out there and be active and achieve our goals!!!!

Sorry I have been MIA. I've been working a lot and since its been so hot I don't turn my computer on. I try to spend less time on the computer anyways.

I tried not weighing myself... it didn't help any. I put in 7 pounds. So I was not feeling too good after that.

I'm hoping that the summer will be more beneficial than bad for me. I have so much going on and a hard time eating when I'm out. I'll be going on a mini-holiday to a car show for a couple of days. Then I have all those grad parties... My cousin's wedding has passed. I did well with eating... drinking on the other hand... not so good. But anyways... with the extra heat and, I hope (knock on wood), nice weather I'll be spending lots more time out side and sweating a bit more. Don't worry, I keep myself hydrated!
