Dieting for Disney

I always say... weight to me doesn't matter. I knew girls in high school who weighed 20 pounds more than me and were skinnier.

I generally go from 1200 to 1500... give or take a couple days.. like when I babysat on Sunday... I was at like 1700.

I haven't been exercising... I'm gonna do it this month though... I've been having a hard time sleeping and its really getting to me. I'm getting to the point where I can barely do anything.... I fall asleep at the keyboard... but once I get in bed I can't sleep... I dunno what's wrong with me...

But I have a couple of days off right now so I can focus on getting some shut eye.

Edit: Sorry... Like I said... my brain isn't functioning too well... Thanks for the support Amy!

Hang in there and don't give up! I know all about the lack of sleep thing. My problem used to be drinking caffeine before I went to bed (this includes diet and non-diet drinks and tea). I try not to do this as much and have also found that by just telling myself to settle down and relax as well as taking in a few deep breaths, I am able to calm myself and let my tension go. It did not happen overnight, but after after a few days, I started noticing that I was sleeping better. There can be many other reasons for your lack of sleep. Have you talked to your doctor about this?

I have got to give you a big :thumbsup2 for keeping up with your exercising! I am one of those people who needs someone to go with me when I work out. I lack motivation, but am trying really hard to stay focused this time. If I don't go to the gym then I make myself exercise at home.

Oh... I actually have a very hard time exercising because I get bored so easily. I'm gonna be staying at my cousin's while she and her family go to Disney World and they have gym, so I'm hoping that will help me for a lil while.

I don't have a doctor... no health insurance and I definately don't make enough to see one. Well other than the fact that my doctors (From the past) want to run every test on me possible and I definately can't afford that. $2300 for a CT scan...

I think my sleep problems come from a bunch of things... my ex for one... and I suffer from night terrors also.

Hey all, just checking in.
It's been a healing/recovery week for me so no
real good workouts to post, but I'm looking forward to
a new week and new possibilities:thumbsup2

So every now and then somebody on this thread usually throws
out an idea for a challenge. The challenge can be for a day, a week,
a month, etc. We haven't had one in a while, so I'll toss out
an idea.

I think that weight loss, healthy living, and healing/recovery
can be greatly influenced by positive thoughts. I'm on the mend
as are others on this thread and we're all trying for a healthier
lifestyle, so my challenge for the next week is to:

Post one positive attribute everyday!

That's it. Simple, positive, reinforcements

You can start anyway you want or you can start with
One thing I like about myself today is...
or
Today I felt good about myself when...

I'll start:
Today I felt good about myself when I played with
the dogs outside after work instead of heading right to the tv!

Have a great night everyone!

Just try not to let it get you down. Night terrors can be bad; have you tried any over-the-counter sleep aids? You can also talk to a pharmicist and they can help you as well.

Have a great night everyone!

Today I felt good about myself when I decided to help my neighbors plan an upcoming trip and not stress eat over all the challenges I am having at work.

Not much of a workout report for today. I did go to the gym and did 90 minutes worth of bike riding but no lifting. I've been still feeling weak ever since this weekend's stomach virus. But I did see a very interesting fact on the tv while I was riding the bike. "For every 1 pound of weight loss that a person has, that will relieve 4 pounds of pressure off of your knees." I don't know if that is a positive statement or not but it sure is an exciting thought. If the math holds up, that means 10 pounds of weight loss would relieve 40 pounds worth of pressure. That is HUGE!!!

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. Liz, I love the idea of a postive thought or tip everyday. What a great way to keep up morale and motivation!

Keep it up everyone! Your doing great!
Bryan:woohoo: :cheer2:

Good for you:thumbsup2

Bryan - very cool info! I was doing the math and my xtra 100 pnds
ended up being 400 pounds of pressure:scared1: glad that's gone!

I missed yesterday so....
I'll quote my favorite Jedi Qi-Gonn Jinn with ""Your focus determines your reality"

It really is true! I believe what we truly focus on, we can achieve.

my thought for today is...
Today's quote is from Master Yoda:yoda: "Try not. Do, or do not, there is no try.
I stuck with the Star Wars for today. I liked this positive thought
because with my running schedule I'd take the easy way out sometimes
and say to myself that I'd try and do 4 or 8 miles today, but what
I need to be saying is that I will DO 4 or 8 miles.
Not try...Do!

Have a great day everyone!
Be positive and let's all work towards our goals today:grouphug:

It was nice out today.. so I asked my mom if when we took Duke (my sister's dog) to the park if we should go for a hike.. and we did. 35 minutes! If it stays this way all week, just might continue to do it.

OK. Here is my positive thought for the day. It is very basic and straight to the point and from one of my favorite movies as well.

"Failure Is Not an Option"

That pretty much says everything. We are doing what we are doing to try to either save our lives or to make them better. So when you look at it that way, there isn't an option.

I am about to head off to the gym. I hope everyone has a great day!

Bryan

I think one thing we all need to do is get the word "try" out of our vocabulary. We are not allowed to use it at work! There is no "try" you either did or didn't! So let's all work together and DO!

HAHAH! I feel very inspirational right now!

Went for a walk today. First time since surgery. Really had no clue how hard it would be! I thought that I'd be able to do half my normal routine pretty easily. Nope! I did one lap and this evening after dinner my DH and I are going to do the other half. With the weather this week finally looking good (Thought Noah was going to show up soon with all the rain we've been having lately) I'm actually looking forward to walking again.

Love the quote idea. Can't think of a single one, though. I'll think even more on my walk. Although that does lead me to a famous quote by W. T. Pooh - "Think. Think. Think." I don't think that's quite what it's all about, though. ;)

Bryan - Know you are from AL. I'm heading to Huntsville later this month. Can you recommend any great restaurants for lunch? I don't want a chain and I always try to get suggestions from people in the area. Of course you may live at the other end of the state, but I thought it was worth a try. Thanks in advance.

You are absolutely right! I am so bad about saying that I'm trying to do this or that. So, I will not try to lose my weight and get into shape, I will DO it!

Thanks for inspiring me! :goodvibes

Well, I think I'm going to post what I eat because I seem to do better losing weight if all you people are seeing what I'm eating!

Of course with my sleeping problems... I didn't fall asleep until 1 or 2 this morning (even though I was in bed at 11) and I took a sleep aid. Don't ask what was on my mind. Anyways, kept waking up and having a hard time falling asleep... anyways, woke up at noon.:rolleyes1

So here we go:
Lunch:
1 C salad mix w/ 10 sprays salad spritzer (which I love.. you don't get too much dressing!)
1 C cantaloupe
1/3 C tuna salad on whole wheat
Snacks:
2 chocolate chip cookies
1 oz potato chips (wasabi flavor so I burn more calories ;))
Dinner:
1/4 C Lloyd's Pulled Pork
1 whole wheat roll
.5 C baked beans
10 baby carrots
1/2 C cantaloupe

That puts me at a total of 1100 calories for the day. I'm gonna go have popcorn tonight while I watch Revenge of the Sith and probably some pineapple!

OK!!! No more "try"!!!!

Excellent way of thinking!:cool1:

Take it slow, don't push yourself too hard:hug:

It sounds like everyone's doing really well around here!

BeckWhy- the calorie count looks good! Enjoy your movie!
Nothing's better than relaxing with a Star Wars movie!!

Hey Bryan - How did the gym go? Today I was slow on the run,
but it'll take a while before I'm back up to the easy runs, but the
good thing is I'll be running in WDW in 2 weeks:woohoo:

My thought for today...
"most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second"

My goal for this week is to push past my comfort zone and
get back to the enjoyment of feeling that second wind:thumbsup2

Have a good night:goodvibes

You guys can call me Becky...

Yeah... relaxing.. my cable is all screwy.. so it keeps getting snowy!

I did make it to the gym today. (I almost talked myself out of it but I am very glad I didn't.) I still didn't do any strength training but I dod 90 minutes on the bike. I have found it very easy to stay on for so long. All I have to do is to find something that keeps my attention on the tv while I am riding. Today, that was real easy. I watched the end of Epsiode II and the beginning of Episode III on Spike and was very content. But the good news portion is that I was able to get in 25 more miles so I am off to a good start for this week. I am worried about tomorrows workout as I am supposed to be going over to my Uncle's house after work and don't know when I will be able to get home. It could ruin my workout for the day but I am going to try to not let that happen.

Everyone is doing so great. I am proud of you all. Teacher31, I will see what I can drum up for you and will get back to you soon about the restaurant.

Thanks everyone!
Bryan

arghhhh don't say snow..... no more snow! :rotfl2:

Bryan- it's ok to miss a day now and then, but even if you go over to
your uncle's bring your running shoes and head out for a quick run:thumbsup2

A short workout today because I had a Dr. appt., but I'm
finally cleared to ramp up the workouts again:woohoo:
Hey Bryan- I think runs in WDW should count double;)

Becky-

Don't kick yourself over your caloric intake. Just take in less tomorrow. Other than the Kielbasa, you have really limited yourself. I also think that it is better when you write down what you eat. Plus, you hiked for 30 minutes -that's great!! Keep it up and you'll see more changes soon! :goodvibes
