Dieting for Disney

Ok, so here's my day for today...

No breakfast.. yell at me if you want, I woke up at 11 (would have slept longer except my ex called me). (Sleeping is a whole other problem with me.)

Lunch: Taco Salad... 2 cups of lettuce, .5 cup lean ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning, .33 cup refried beans, 1 T sour cream, 1 T salsa, and 1 ounce tortilla chips.

Dinner: 1 cup egg noodles, .5 cup beef stroganoff meat stuff, 2 cups asparagus, 1 cup lettuce and 10 sprays from Salad Spritzer stuff.

I ate until I was full... calorie count around 800. :scared1: Maybe this is why I can't lose weight?

No exercise... no surprise. I had gotten changed was going to do it around 3 (figured I could do my dance video that I have memorized while I watched The OC since it makes time go by faster), but got really sad and just couldn't get myself to do it.

I just want to add for yesterday that I forgot I ate was a Snickers creme egg thing and a Nestle Crunch caramel egg. I know both of those are bad... but they were left over from Easter. I also had some peaches in light syrup last night after I posted my food. I assumed the calories for the Snickers and the Crunch, so I ended up around 1200 calories.

Today I ate.. and yes yell at me for the sugars and the white carbs if you wish...

Frosted Flakes & milk for breakfast
Tuna Salad on whole wheat for lunch
Cheetos for snack (I was just craving them)
1 hard taco for dinner & asparagus
and a 1/2 cup rice pudding...
Total calories around 1250.

I'm going to bed early tonight... and hopefully I'll sleep through the night. I was beat today at work. Speaking of which I also didn't work out today.

I've been sticking to my 1200 (give or take a few) calories and since this past Monday, I have already lost 2 lbs. :cheer2: I have been here and done it several times before, but I am really determined to lose the weight this time. I have to be a good role model for my kiddos. How can I tell them to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise when I don't even do that myself? I can't and won't do it anymore! :goodvibes

Nobody here yells, we support each other and try to give
helpful suggestions. We've all been there, and we're all trying to
get through the same obstacles.
The calorie count is good, but be careful with your refined foods.
Even though your calorie count is not high, you still need to watch
out for carbs. You might want to add more fruits and veggies too:goodvibes
Don't forget your water too:banana:

Amyz00 - great job on your weight loss:cheer2:
I'm a mom too and it's so important to be a good role model
for our kids, but it's so hard too! Keep up the good work!

As for me...
I'm going back to bed, still feeling ill:sick:

Thanks... I know about the whole refined foods thing... Frosted Flakes is my favorite cereal! YUM! Anyways... Yesterday I was at 1300 calories. Again no working out, but I left work dripping with sweat, for whatever that is worth.

I tend to not have a problem drinking my water. I have 1L bottles of Fiji water and I can drink two of them in 1/2 a day. I'm so glad I went with the 1L bottles instead of the 1/2L ones. I drink far more water with the 1L.

When summer rolls around I eat a lot more fruits and veggies. In winter my mom won't buy them because they cost too much. Asparagus was $1.69# so we bought so much of it... but it's also my favorite veggie.

Anyways, I just want to say that Sundays are my weigh in days, and I'm down 2.8 pounds from last week. Finally some change!:yay:

Hey everyone! I was going to pop my head in for a quick visit and see how everyone is doing. Then, I realized how long it has been since I have posted as well. Sorry about that. I know yesterday I was down and out because I had gotten a bit of food poisoning as well. I don't know if I did it out of sympathy for DW or just stupidity. Anyway, I haven't done much of anything for the last 1 1/2 days. but with that, i also haven't had anything to eat either.

Beckwhy Congratulations on the weight loss. That is wonderful. I would like to caution you on what we call "empty calories". That's what we get when we are eating the candy bars and sweets. Now there are several protein bars that taste just like a Snickers that is a lot better for you. Plus, you can allow for that to help with any kind of sweet tooth.

Amyz00 I agree with you totally. We can't "preach" something to our kids if we don't live it as well. It would be like an alcoholic telling someone not to drink but they still do it. I applaud your resolve and your reasoning. Good luck and let us know if we can do anything to help you acheive your goal.

Twotoohappy Liz, I am sorry that you are feeling ill. Hopefully, it will pass very soon. Was it this week or next week when you were suppose to find out about your teacher's tests?

Teacher31 Welcome back. :yay: It has been a long time since you have visited the fray here. I am sorry that you have been down and out since your surgery. Obviously, that would be something that I can't comment about. Doesn't mean that I can't sympathize with you and your pain. I do hope that you get better soon. Please come back and visit us whenever you can.

That's about it for now. I am still leary about going to the gym today. I am still feeling a little ill myself so I will probably take today off as well and then try to hit it hard again tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great Sunday and week.

Bryan

I know all about empty calories, I know all about all that stuff. I spent several years of my life obsessed with food when I had an eating disorder. I generally eat healthy, my mom just bought my fave cereal (and I'm so bored of FiberOne and Kashi) and I had a few candies from Easter.

I generally do not have a sweet tooth. My downfall is Martin's potato chips. Its easy to control that because they are not cheap. We only get them on occasion. Well, I have a bit of a downfall with Mexican food also.

I really need support when it comes to exercise. Like I said I have suffered from eating disorders in the past in which I lost weight by not eating or eating very little. So I have it in my mind that I can lose weight without exercising. And it doesn't help when I do exercise, that I'm out of shape, and it's hard. I do strength training with no problem, pushups, situps, free weights, etc. But cardio is no good.

I do have my cell phone set to remind me to exercise 3 days this week. So I'm hoping that helps me exercise!

Great news! I lost 4 lbs. in my first week! :yay: I know that this is only week one and that you tend to lose more the first week due to water rention, etc., but it really made my day when I stepped on the scale and weighed myself! :)

For this next week, I am going low and will shoot for a one pound loss. I have found that by counting my calories, it's easier to keep up with what I have eaten plus the realization of what I have consumed is right there on paper. I have eaten between 1200-1300 calories each day and my beginning weight was 190 (and I am 5' 2.5").

It's really amazing how losing just a few pounds can make you feel better - physically and mentally!

Good luck to everyone and thanks for all of the wonderful advice/tips. :goodvibes

I just hit a 5 lbs drop in 11 days! I am hopeful that I stay on a roll. My biggest issue right now is I have been sick a couple of days and my exercise has stopped. I find when I am sick & stop going to pilates & exercising it is really tough for me to start up again......

I wish everyone a successful week!:cool1:

You're lucky to lose 4 pounds on your first week. First week I never lose anything.. not even that water weight everyone talks about.

Quick post: Feeling a lot better. Whatever I had, I got it out real quick. I was able to go back to the gym tonight. Knowing that I wouldn't have any strength since I haven't eaten in 2 days, I stuck with ab work and cardio. I was able to do 20 miles on the bike and 30 minutes worth of abs. I was disappointed with one thing though. Considering what I went through over the weekend, I was hoping to have been able to loose a little more weight but actually my weight went up a pound. I know why and understand the science behind it but I am still a little disappointed.

:welcome: Just a quick welcome to NEVERENOUGHWDW. Congratulations on the 5 pounds. That is a great and motivating start.

Will talk more later!
Thanks everyone!
Bryan

I think that it is different for each person. After a month or so, I usually hit my first plateau. Not really sure; perhaps I need to exercise more. I have heard that many people do not lose weight during their first couple of weeks, but see great results thereafter.

Good news. I went back to the gym tonight and even though I usually do not live as a slave to the numbers on the scale, I did go and weigh myself again. When I did, I lost the pound that I had gained plus another 2 pounds. Lifted my spirits up a lot. Afterwards I did a short leg workout as I am still rehabbing my knee. It has been a very slow go. Then, I did 45 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the bike for a total of 15 miles. When I got home, DW and kids said that my clothes were so wet, that it looked like I had taken shower and left them on. That was a good feeling.

Hope everyone is having a great week. Tomorrow is Hump Day. The week is half over so this is the perfect time to make sure that we are making the best of the week. Are we doing what it takes to succeed in our healthier lifestyle goals? Only you can answer that.

Have a good night everyone!

Congratulations Bryan!! :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

That is a great accomplishment! I have started and stopped dieting/exercising so many times but this time I am determined to see it through. The hardest part for me is going to the grocery store. I try to stay focused, but it can be hard. Oh, and going out to eat can be gruesome! My husband gave me some good advice the other day when the waitress brought out some really yummy bread that is not on my diet: just imagine the grossest thing on the bread. Well, that did it for me!

Congrats Bubba!! Our fearless leader is back on top!

Great to hear/read how all of you are doing. Twotoohappy - I hope you feel better soon!

Just a fly by visit for me. I'm doing fairly well. I went away for the weekend and worked out at the hotel gym. I'm still shocked! Otherwise I've been doing pretty well. We may be going to Vegas in May so I'd like to drop a few pounds before then. It's off to the treadmill for me!

Have a great day!

Great News for everyone!!!!

Me on the other hand somehow I managed to gain a few ounces.....ugh!

Need to get moving again:cool1:

I hit 190 and stay there... I have yet to get past it and stay... :( And this holds true for years...

Oh well..

But on a positive note... for the month of March I lost 3.5 inches. I don't know if that's good or bad... but I'm excited! And I put on a pair of pants today and they wouldn't stay up.

Well, in my book, that is WONDERFUL!!! :woohoo: Losing inches means that you must have done something right! I imagine that when you put on those pants you felt quite good.

How many calories are you eating a day? What about exercise - how much per day/week? I read that we can hit plateaus but if you just keep doing what you were already doing, your body may get back on track. Also, by just dropping a few calories, this may set your metabolism back into burning mode.

Stay positive and focused. You CAN do it.:thumbsup2

I always say... weight to me doesn't matter. I knew girls in high school who weighed 20 pounds more than me and were skinnier.

I generally go from 1200 to 1500... give or take a couple days.. like when I babysat on Sunday... I was at like 1700.

I haven't been exercising... I'm gonna do it this month though... I've been having a hard time sleeping and its really getting to me. I'm getting to the point where I can barely do anything.... I fall asleep at the keyboard... but once I get in bed I can't sleep... I dunno what's wrong with me...

But I have a couple of days off right now so I can focus on getting some shut eye.

Edit: Sorry... Like I said... my brain isn't functioning too well... Thanks for the support Amy!
