Dieting for Disney

Lionqueen - WELCOME HOME! :welcome: Sounds like you had the perfect trip. The weather sounded like how it was when I was there during Hurricane Ivan. For the whole week, we had 12 minutes of rain and with the possibility of a hurricane, there was no crowd. What a great trip! I am really glad that you and your family was able to get out and recharge your batteries. Sounds like that is exactly what the doctor ordered. I look forward to reading your trip report. Please make sure that you let us know when you have completed it so we can check it out.

BlondeAlligator - I am glad to hear that you are starting to feel better. I know it is hard to find any motivation when you are feeling ill and it is always easy to catch what our kids may have since we are the ones that nurse them back to health. But with time and rest, you will get better and then you will be back to the weight loss game full strength. I would like to give you a :grouphug: and a :cheer2: to get you back to health. :wizard:

Hope all of you are having a great week!

Lionqueen: I loved your pictures! Your boys are so adorable. I really like the matching shirts...that is really a great shot you got. And your DH with Cinderella...priceless!

I'm doing horribly with my diet. I had my daughters' dance recital stuff this past weekend (4 days) and every time I looked in a mirror I thought, "When did you get so out of shape, and OLD looking?" Yikes. Ever since my boys' baseball season started, my schedule has been so out of whack. My DH has left for his summer job, and I feel like I live in the car. Due to the boys' schedule, I haven't been able to take a class at the club for a month, and I had been going 5 days a week for 2 months, so that really bums me out. I just don't know how to do the 'single mom' thing with 5 kids in activities all over the place, keep up the house, and fit in time to work out. My eating schedule has been so erratic the past 2-3 weeks...really bad. Some days were so busy I would forget to eat until late afternoon, which I know is REALLY, REALLY bad. Sorry to be such a whiner. It's been a L-O-N-G weekend.

Blestmom...thanks!! I'm know exactly what you mean about not having time to workout and concentrate on dieting. It is a HUGE responsibility and takes an AMAZING person, like yourself, to be able to do everything you're doing. Sometimes you literally don't have any time at all, but somehow finding the time is the hardest to do. Don't worry, just get done what you need to get done and concentrate on getting your motivation going. Once you're motivated, you will be able to do everything you want, guaranteed.

I was going to go to they gym today, but didn't make it. I got started on pulling weeds (they grow like crazy when you're away for 12 days, trust me) and 2 hours later it was getting too late. So I decided to set up the boys pool (16'X4') and it's not a small task. Another 2 hours in the blazing heat (92degrees) and it's filling as I type. Should take another 3+ hours for the thing to fill...hello huge water bill :guilty: oh well, if it occupies my kids, it's worth it. Anyway, I got one heck of a sweatfest out of my morning so that kinda took the place of my workout. I am going to really try to get to the gym tomorrow and get my "mojo" going again. Going back the first time is a biggie, but I know I will do it, when is the question.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great week and I know a few of you are getting ready to leave soon. Have a great time preparing and you all so deserve it so enjoy~

I started my novel of a trip report, the link is below. I will be doing a separate dining review too after this. Hope you enjoy it as much as I like reliving it by reporting about it. Have a great week!!

trip report

blestmom - the fact that you have five active kids and are, at times, a single parent because of your husband's job and you do all the cooking, cleaning and rasing of the children has given me such a higher level of respect for you that I am rendered speechless. I am actually having to pause and think of something to say that hopefully will make sense. I can see how you wouldn't have a chance to be able to exercise on a regular basis but I think, with some proper planning and the right amount of motivation and dedication, you could still be dieting. I know it is tough, especially with everything that you have going on. Also, while you are at the parks with your kids, keep moving. No one ever said that you had to stay seated while you are watching them. Walk around the field to keep doing your cardio. I think with those steps taken, you will be able to get back to succeeding in your weight loss battle. At the same time, please know that I am not trying to be negative. It is obvious that you have your plate full. Just trying to help. :cheer2: :grouphug:

Lionqueen - I am headed over to read your trip report as soon as I finish tyoing this up. I don't know if you included this in your report but what kind of souvy's did you purchase? I am always excited about what kind of new stuff that they have. It amazes me how they can always come up with new things to entice us to buy. As far as your exercise for the day, it sounded like you had enough of a workout for the both of us. There is nothing that hurts me worse than working in the yard. I know though with your motivation, energy and obvious intensity, you will be back into your routine and more than likely, you will be leaving the rest of us in the dust. I look forward to reading about your continued success.

As for me  , I did get back into the gym tonight. I worked on my chest, triceps and biceps. I am really going for the define look right now so I was doing everything reaaaal slow. I was focused on the squeeze at the top and the stretch at the bottom. Apparently, I did something right. When I went back into the dressing room afterwards to get ready to do my cardio, I took a glance in the mirror. I had to take a second glance. Granted, I still had a pump from the workout but I was shocked at how full and vascular that I did look in the mirror. I hope this doesn't sound like bragging because I am not satisfied with the way I look and I will probably never be satisfied. But for that moment, I had the size that I have been working so long to try to achieve. :woohoo: :cheer2: :cloud9: Now, if I could just keep that all of the time and get my abs to "POP" the way that I am really working towards, I would be very happy. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

HEY GANG: Just back from Fri-Mon in MAINE. My niece graduated with Honors from Kennebunk HS! We are so proud of her...I have to share...going to UMOrono on a FULL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP. She will live in the Honors Dorm and attend the Honors College of UMOrono. This is such a special fete for her and her mom(my sis)! My Sis is a single mom who has literally worked 3 jobs at a time to make a decent life for Dniece and DSis. On Friday DNiece received two more scholarships totally $2500.00 that will go towards her laptop. My whole family was there and this was just FAB for niece.

ANYWAY, we had a big dinner Sat night. I over did it with the lobster....the BUTTER...sorry, after my weekend at the CAPE I had a wonderful week staying focused and getting my w/o's at the TRACK completed w/DS! Friday was a STAY ON FOCUS meal day :) ! Saturday break was Yogurt w/flaxseed, lunch was a salad with ff dressing (all I wanted) and then we got so busy decorating the restaurant with the gang for dinner...then DINNNNNNERRR  , shared a LOBSTER w/Mom (78yo)...she ate most of it BUT I overdid with the dunking in the butter ..... and the evening was a success...we all go back to the hotel and my stomach starts rollllllllling  by 1am I am so sick to my stomach....all I think about is the actual Grad is Sunday and I am here w/family and am so sick. WELL, once I was done (3am)...I felt ABSOLUTELY fine. My DS says..."Mom, I think it was the butter?"....I think he was right and GANG...now I am guestioning my GALL BLADDER...say it isn't so....well ALLLLL DAYYYY Sun and Mon (so far) have barely had water and dry toast. This freaked :crazy2: me out so bad I am so afraid to eat anything. I was in such HORRIBLE pain Sat night. :sad2:

I am going to have some ff jello in a few...I am getttttting so hungry and feeling like myself again but my mom wants me to call my MD in look into the GB situation. I have had a HORRIBLE headache as my fam tells me I am a little dehydrated. :headache: I will be fine. DS wanted to go to the TRACK when we got back from Maine around 5pm and I said no....I cannot believe I said NO to him, but I felt weak and I need to get to bed, get some sleep in my OWN bed tonight and we are walking in the morning....UGH...this being sick does set one back a bit.

I read all your POSTS: LIONQUEEN, WELCOME HOME. Your family is beautiful! And I will read your trippie as well! So glad you all had a FAB time!!!

BUBBA: BUDDY, YOU BRAG AND BRAG AWAY!!! YOU DESERVE TO BE ABLE TO POST TO ALL OF US HOW HAPPPPPPY AND THRILLED YOU ARE WITH YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!! YOU HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR THIS! This is one of LIFE'S GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS...being said by one who has been doing this for close to 23 years...actually Chris will be 24 on Wed June 14th...coming into this world weighing 10 POUNDS and ME weighing over 200 at that time. LIFESTYLE CHANGE AND CHALLENGE 24/7 for me!!!
It also makes me feel good, that when I am not at my best and (more at my worst between the CAPE weekend and all that BUTTER in MAINE) THAT I can turn those times AROUND. Reading everything ALL OF YOU HAVE SAID to me makes me feel not so much like the failure I sometimes label myself in my own private time. This forum is so wonderful for me to VENT/RANT about my UPSETS :sad2: ...but with every UPSET in my struggles with my weight...seems to then get me to say..."TURN THIS AROUND" and move ON and UPWARD and KEEEEEP YOUR FOCUS, Karen.....AND I DO...

OMG...I am rambling....BUT I know you guys don't mind...THANK YOU ALL!!!!

BLESTMOM: YOU are NOT, I repeat NOT a WHINER....STOP THAT BEATING YOURSELF UP...The KIDS are very important...You are a busy lady, to try and do it all is almost impossible. I ONLY had two and when I was younger and felt like it(the weight loss/diet) will never get done....somewhere and somehow IT DOES. Hang in there...when you have a quiet moment...(I know = WHAT ARE THEY)...just thank the Dear Lord you are all healthy and when the time is right you will get YOUR focus back, YUP you will!!! In the meantime we are HERE for you...so if you want to WHINE we will be here to LISTEN....yup, we will!!!!
BLONDEALLIGATER: Staying the same and keeping with that SIX pounds loss is ALWAYS POSITIVE. When I used to go to Weight Watchers we APPLAUDED all the members that even stayed the same. SO HANG IN THERE. I am APPLAUDING YOU here on Dieting for Disney.

OKAY everyone...DH just said we have had a busy weekend, time to shut off the computer...I agree!!!

HANG IN THERE, EVERYONE. ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! WE WILL MAKE IT, YES, WE WILL!!!

Well I have food on the brain! It is all I am thinking about! I have been cheating a little bit here and there, you know when the excuses start coming. We went down to see my mom and it was my nephews birthday so we went out to breakfast. Ate eggs, hasbrowns and toast I just kept thinking it is his birday it won't hurt just one day. And then the next day there was another excuse and another. I am determined that today it will stop! I need to lose another 25 lbs and I can't do that by cheating! Last night I was sooo hungry and I kept thinking about what someone said on here about hunger pangs telling you that your body is buring fat, but I just couldn't take it anymore and ate some carrots and a teaspoon of dip. I just don't know I guess it is one of those crossroads in your life where you need to make a decision. It would be so much easier if you didn't have to have food in your life at all! :rotfl:

I only have twenty-nine more days before my trip, but I am going to start getting back into gear. I lose alot of weight (60 pounds) within seven months; however, I have really be cheating alot and it really downgrades my self esteem. So, I am getting back into gear and I am going to begin eating right! :cheer2:

Welcome Disneyfan :cheer2:  :cool1: I hope that you find the encouragement that is needed for you to be able to succeed. We are all one big happy family here. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of plan of attack do you have for your diet and exercise routine? With a little more knowledge, all of us here might be able to stear you in the right direction to help you make your goals a little faster. I can say that perserverence and dedication is what will help you win the race. You will get out what you put in. I know that is very cliche but it is actually the truth. So I am going to try to :cheer2: you on to victory and give you a :grouphug: for support a long the way.

Kidsmom - That is the toughest part about coming back home from a vacation. Most vacations are not just little binges but all out splurges. Think about being on a cruise. They are literally offering food to you 24/7. The same at WDW. You can room order a pizza anytime you want. Then it is time to come home and get back into that training mode to finish what you have started. For some people, they can't wait to get back into the gym and get back on their diet. For others, they remember all of the tastes that are so tempting and then they succumb to the power of the food :rotfl: But know that you are not in this battle alone! We have all faced it and it seems like it is something that is more prevalent during the Summertime. You would think that during the time of year that we are usually out by the pool or at the beach is when we are the most conscious about what we are eating but it isn't always that case. But I have learned that you are a very strong woman and you will conquer this little set back. You have all of our support and :cheer2: during this tough time.

Count me in as a new WISH member and another body trying to lose weight before heading back to WDW. :)

I've got about 70 pounds over all to lose, but am hoping to get off 20 before our trip in October. I've been struggling with weight for the last ten years. I actually managed to lose 30 pounds by having a baby (who'd have thought that would happen?!) but have since put that back on and of course those nasty pounds brought friends with them. :)

Thursday we join the local fitness center. I'm looking forward to working on getting healthy and looking better for our trip in October.

Chris - Welcome :welcome: to our humble home on the internet. We have a lot of GREAT people here that have similiar goals as you. So the number one thing that I want to let you know is that you are NOT alone. We are here to comfort you through the hard times of a diet and exercise and also through the times of elation when you realize that you are making a difference for yourself and for everyone around you. That is a very important fact that a lot of people seem to forget about. Although you feel like no one else is really effected by your regimine, you couldn't be more wrong. Think about what happens when you have reached your goals. You have more energy, more self esteem and you are a lot more healthy. Think about what all of that will do for you and your family and friends. How much more fun will you be able to have with your child? It is great that you have joined a fitness center. Now, you may just want to learn the right routines and a good diet plan to help speed up the process for you. Feel free to share what you are doing or what you are planning on doing. We will do everything that we can to keep you extremely motivated and inspired to succeed. :woohoo: :cheer2:

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic week. I have had an up and down week. About 6 weeks ago, I bought a new car for myself. This was the first new car I have ever had and it was going to be the first time we would take "my" car on our vacation. Well, yesterday morning, I ttok the car in to get a vent fixed in the car that was broken and asked them to do a check over the car to make sure everything was safe. About 10 minutes later, the guy came and told me they were going to have to put me into a rental. I was like, "What's wrong with my car?". :confused3 He told me that the fuel line had a leak in it and it was a fire hazard to drive. WHAT?! I just got this car and you are telling me that I have been driving in danger for the last 6 weeks. Then, I asked how long was it going to take to fix it. They informed me that thepart had to be ordered and it could take 3 or 4 days for it to get there and then they have to install. I was telling them emphatically that I needed my car back by Friday because I was leaving to go on vacation that night. They just told me that there was no way that the part would be in and tried to make me feel better by reminding me that the rental would be at no charge. I still wasn't happy but what could I do at that moment. I ended up with a Dodge Stratus. Decent enough car but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I was able to get a hold of my salesman this morning finally. He had a few days off with friends visiting. Anyway, he called me and I explained what I was going on with the car. He acted like he was shocked and genuinely seemed like he was concerned. He said he would see if he couldn't speed up the process. About 1 hour later, he called me back and gave me an update. He let me know why the part would take so long to get in. The part is as long as the car. It goes from one end to the other. With the size of the part, they had to deliver it by an 18 wheeler. So the part and the car will not be ready until Wednesday of next week. Now, remember that I am leaving tomorrow night. Well, they did try to make me feel better about the situation. My salesman new I wasn't vey happy about the Dodge (It was also black on black. Man, that would be hot down in Orlando!) so he got with the company's GM and got me a couple of different choices. They said I could get a Ford Taurus. Drove one before. OK but not great by any means. Or I could take a Ford Escape SUV. BINGO! We had a winner with that one. My DW had been wanting an SUV for a good long while now and we just couldn't afford one so this will give us a chance to experience one to see if we really like it. I was very happy with that. Plus, I had a chance to think about it for a moment. This way I am not putting all of those miles on my car and the warranty will last longer. Another fact is that I am 6' tall and now I don't have to climb out of the car everytime we stop. So I am not complaining anymore. I am still not happy with the problem with my car but I can relax a little more now and get back to having a pixiedust: day in preparation for our vacation.

As I said, we are leaving in about 25 hours so this will probably be the last post I make until I get back. Let me just say that all of you are great. You are my friends, my family and my inspiration. I really do love you all. With your combined inspiration and motivation, I was able to get down to 182 pounds last week. In the last 2 weeks, I have been trying to add a little bit of the muscle that I had lost so my weight creeped back up to 186. Going from where I started, I lost a total of 26 pounds pre-trip. This is going from an original goal of only loosing 15 pounds. :cheer2:  :grouphug: :woohoo: :woohoo: I can honestly say I couldn't have done any of it without all of you but don't worry. As soon as we get back from our trip, I will be back on Dis and on WISH and even on Dieting for Disney. Even if I am not planning a trip to WDW, I will be here with all of you or any of the new members that may decide to join to get ready for their trip. Besides, I am not finished with my physique and I still have a long way to go. So as long as all of you want to keep this thread going, I will be here with you hoping that I can help you and knowing that you will help me. I look forward to telling you all about my trip as soon as we get back.

God Bless and Stay Healthy!
Bryan

Bubba I hope you have a great time on your tip and I am sending tons of pixiedust: you way!

Well so far I am down 3 of the 4 pounds I gained on our WDW trip. And it has been a struggle! I have to go and spend a week with my mother to take her back and fourth to the doctors so I will be without my eliptical and I am a bit worried about that. I am going to bring a Tae Bo tape with me and see if I can do that. After finally printing out all my WDW pics, I can see the differance in what I was like last year and what I am like this year (40 lbs lighter) but I still feel like I have a long way to go. I am not happy with the way I look yet. I really want to get to 135 lbs. before our next trip to WDW in Dec.

Well I hope you all are doing well! :goodvibes It has been a while since everyone has posted.

Well, here it is. It is 8:00 pm where I am and we will be leaving in about 4 hours to make our trek to WDW. I know it sounds weird to drive all night but it really works for me. We can start our vacation sooner and there is a lot less traffic on the roads during the night. I am literally supposed to be sleeping right now so I can be rested while driving but as cliche as it sounds,
"I'm too excited to sleep!" If we had everything packed up and ready, I would be tempted to leave right now. I, like the rest of you, can't wait for this trip to start. I need this vacation.

I sincerly hope you all have a fabulous week. Please know that I will be thinking of each and everyone of you while I am gone and ask that if some of you would, just say a little prayer for me and my family to have a safe trip. The FUN is going to happen no matter what. So here we go! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :sunny: :cheer2: :cloud9: :moped: :grouphug: :woohoo:   :yay: :yay:

BUBBA:
HAVE THE BEST BEST BEST TIME EVER AT WDW!!!! You should be so proud of your final weight as you depart for the World.

Hi all, haven't posted in awhile and thought I'd check in. I'm so sorry I missed your departure Bubba, but am thinking of you right now driving down to WDW...LUCKY...I'm so jealous! Anyway, You will probably be reading this when you return so welcome home :lmao: Seriously though, I know you will have a GREAT time and you SO deserve it. Enjoy!!

Kidsmom...GREAT job on losing the trip weight!!! I have not been back to the gym yet, but have been doing yard work an average of 4 hours per day in 95+ degree heat. I have not weighed myself but will have to on Monday. I AM going to the gym on Monday and....surprise...I am actually looking forward to it! I have more weight to lose and it's like I have a fresh pallette now. I am going to try my hardest to lose 20lbs by our trip in Sept, I can do it.

o2bacelt..Welcome to our thread!! You will find super people here that will support and motivate you like you cannot believe! Sounds like you and I are both trying to lose 20lbs by Oct. (Sept. 29th for me). We can do it!! I have to warn you I can be very competitive :lmao: not really, it's just a great motivator to have someone with a similar weight loss goal.

To all who haven't posted in awhile (me included) let us know how it's going and how you're doing. As silly as this sounds, Fall is right around the corner and wouldn't it be FABULOUS to be slimmer/healthier for the Holidays?? Don't give up the fight!

Have a great weekend all, and to those with husbands/father's, a great Father's day!!

Hi all! Hope you're all having a great weekend!

BUBBA: I am so jealous! You are probably at the World right now! I know you'll have an awesome trip!

Thanks to all of your support, I made it through my sucky 2 weeks & have lost 1.5 pounds despite the chaos of flooded basements & sick kiddos & so my total is now 7.5 pounds lost since I began! :) :) :) To all new members...welcome! This board is such a help & I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Sorry this is short but DH is waiting on me to start a movie! Happy Father's Day to all the Dads here...have a great weekend to all!

Allison :grouphug:

Hi everyone! My family has a Disney trip planned in early Sept (10 weeks-but who's counting?) I've been trying to lose weight for the trip. It'll be great to have your support on the way! My total goal is about 50lb but I figure that's a little extreme in 10 wks :teeth: A more reasonable one, I hope, would be 15lbs. What do you think?
Of course, with Free Dining, maybe I should strive for 20lbs to give me some leeway :rotfl:
I can't wait to get to know you!

AliasHeather....Welcome!!!!.... :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:
I think 15lbs is a totally attainable goal in that timeframe. If you need any advice from any of us on dieting tips, we all have different things that have worked for us individually, ask away!
I just returned from WDW w/Dining Plan and gained 4lbs. I've lost 2 of them already and am motivated to lose the other 2 then move on to losing more for our Sept. trip. I have a total of 35 more to lose (have lost 36 so far) but will concentrate on 17 for our upcoming trip.
Hope you find all the motivation and support I've found on this thread! Bubba, the original poster and head motivator, is at the world right now...the nerve :lmao: Let us know what type of diet/exercise you are doing, it's great to hear what everyone is doing and what is working.

Hope you all had a GREAT Father's Day and are staying motivated. Have a great week!

Welcome Alisaheather! This board is so friendly & helpful...I was having a rough time the past few weeks (if you read my past posts, you'll see why) but the words of encouragement from my family here helped me through & got me back on track! I think your goal is very reasonable...my motto to weight loss is "baby steps"...if you set small goals it's easier to stay motivated & not get discouraged than if you look at the total number of pounds you want to lose. I am going to WDW in December, but in September I am headed to Vegas & I also want to lose @ 15lbs by then. We can work on it together! I just try to eat small portions, few snacks, don't eat after 8pm (most of the time) & exercise at least 3-4 times/week. Drink lots of water, too. Keep posting let us know how you're doing & if you're having a rough day, come here for support!

Hope everyone else is doing well...DD went back to school today for extended school year...yipee! We were going stir-crazy being cooped up & sick for the past 2 weeks! Don't you just wonder what Bubba is doing right now????

Take care all...

Allison

Hey GANG: HOW is EVERYONE?? Hoping all is well with our Dieting for Disney group despite the fact that our FEARLESS LEADER is in the "WORLD"...I am doing well. Busy working 24/7 as this is our busiest time. Trying to stay so focused. Have been walking every single night for one solid hour at our Town's walking track...I think FINALLY my DH is realizing he needs it as well and this is probably the first time ever that he has done any kind of w/o or walking for exactly FIVE days in a row...yup sun-thur ONE SOLID hour with me and over 7000 steps each evening. He has to lose weight. Get his cholestrol down and he is feeling so positive that each morn he says.."what time do you want to walk?"....mind you I have been doing this FOREVER and asking him FOREVER to go with me and NOW he is asking me to go w/HIM!!!
Ahhh...SWEET...maybe just maybe we are on to something here, FOLKS...!!!

Hoping that Bubba and his family had a fabulous time on vacation. I hope we get a full report...even hope he does a trippie for ALL to read.

Well gang, have a good weekend. Keep your focus, get some blueberries and strawberries and make yourself a lo-cal frappe in your blender...helps with the heat as well as the waistline...hahaha!!!

WELCOME so much to anyone that is new since I last POSTED!!!
