Dieting for Disney

Tiggerific - It makes me feel good that you are already feeling comfortable with us. We are here to be supportive through the good times and the bad. We all go through those issues at one point or another. The important thing to remember is that you are not alone. It is always easier to keep going when you know someone else is or has gone through it.

BlondeAlligator - I am sorry that you have been sick. Yet, I am glad that you are starting to feel better. I was getting concerned about you realizing that you hadn't posted all week. I knew something was up. I was just hoping that you weren't ill. Well, I guess I was wrong but at least you are getting better. That's the good news. You are on the comeback trail and I know you will be back to 100% very soon. Just take the time you need to make sure you are well. You will hurt yourself worse if you try to get back into the routine before you are ready.

Kidsmom - You had made a mention about you had dropped the weight and increased the reps to around 30. I really believe that is too many reps. I know the goal is to tone and lose weight but doing that many reps is really counterproductive. Even in toning, you need to work the muscle some and doing that many reps means you are not doing that. For toning, I would really recommend no more than 15 - 20 reps but you want to make sure you feel at least some sort of burn. In other words, it doesn't need to be an easy lift for all of the reps. Plus, another way to look at things would be that muscle burns more calories than fat. So if you do put on some muscle, that is not a bad thing. It isn't always about what the scale says. Think about lionqueen. She has lost 38 pounds since she started her diet and exercise but then she had a test done and the results were totally different. I want to say that she had lost over 50 pounds of fat. That means she had gained 12 pounds of muscle. That muscle is helping to increase her metabolism which is going to continue in helping with the weight loss. The best idea is to not always go by what the scale says. Go by how your clothes fit. I hope that helps and makes sense.

Keep on moving people! You are doing great and I am extremely proud to be associated with such winners like each and everyone of you. Keep it up! :cheer2: :grouphug: :woohoo:

Howdy guys...I'm almost back to 100%! And the good news is...I didn't gain any weight this week as I had feared I would. I didn't lose any either, but I'll take it! So I'm still holding at 6.5 pounds lost, but I am really feeling good & am really motivated to get going on my workouts again.

It's finally not raining here in Chicgao & we took DD to the park today for the first time in 2 weeks! It was beautiful. The best part was that DD was actually interacting with another little girl in a really great way. They were sharing the rocks that they were finding, & had a ball watching ants together. There wasn't much conversation between them, but they were communicating on some other "kid" level & it was great fun to watch. We also got a great report at her end of the school year IEP meeting (Individualized Education Plan). In only 2 1/2 months the teacher & her therapists are all very pleased & surprised at how far she has come. It was a great end to a pretty lousy week.

Lionqueen: So glad you are feeling better...I see you're in CO. I was born in Wheat Ridge & lived there until I was 8. I still miss the mountains! You are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place (not that Chicago isn't great).

Tiggerific: I never liked the WW message boards, either. But here, everyone is so nice & loves Disney & so you know we're all a "certain type" of people. Do you know about Dottie's weight loss site? She has gathered WW point values for about a gazzillion restaurants...it's a great resource. PM me if you want to website. Keep up the good work this week...passing on Krispy Kremes deserves a gold medal in my book...

Bubba: Thanks as always for being our fearless leader!

Have a great weekend, everbody! I get a night out with DH tonight & we're off to see Poseiden (sp??) & have a nice meal out without the kiddo. Hope everyone else has equally fun plans.

Allison

BlondeAlligator - It is great to hear that you are almost 100%. I know you will be back at full strength in no time. I am also very excited for IEP results. I have been through those meetings every year for, well since my DS started school. He has got ADHD but it seems like he has got more going on than just that. I know he will be hyperactive but he has no powers of recollection. If you ask him to name one thing that he has learned at school, he can't give you an answer. He just looks off into space acting like he is trying to think of an answer. I am sure that is a lot of the same thing that you are going through with Autism as well. I mean it when I say my prayers are with you.

Update time. I told you all that I had talked to one of the trainers last week about my diet and how to get rid of the rest of the bodyfat that I have around the lower part of my abs. His suggestion was really to eat a ton of vegetables. This really presents a problem for me as in the fact, I hate vegetables. But he made it clear to me that eating vegetables will help you burn more calories and fat just by trying to digest them than if I did cardio almost all day. His recommendation made me take a good look at waht I am really eating. Even with this knowledge, I have only had vegetables in my diet for one day out of the last four. Not a good sign but I also have a little excuse for that. We didn't have any in the house. Well, I took care of that tonight. I went to the grocery store and got broccoli, green beans, peas and whatever else I thought I could stomach eating. Saying that this is a life change is an understatement. Anyway, I have 25 days before I leave for my trip. I am going to "try" to follow this diet plan as closely as possible. I will let you know on any continued progress. He also suggested that 185 would be the perfect weight for my size. I am going to try to get there before we leave. I have about 7 more pounds to loose.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Keep up the hard work. It will not be in vane.

Hi all, Happy Monday..is there such a thing?? Anyway another week to lose the weight!

I did not work out either Sat or Sun and don't feel like going today..just too much to do! I went and tanned then shipped our box to WDW!!! This is the 1st SUPER exciting day of our trip..when I send our supplies down via FedEx ground for it to be there upon check in. Only 6 more days for us and boy am I excited. I don't get to sleep until late and then only sleep about 6 hrs. The kids on the WDW commercial got nothing on me :lmao:

Bubba..WOW that is a change! I am so proud of you for jumping in like that, you are going to be so glad you did! Not only are veggies gonna help you lose the weight but they will completely change your metabolism, energy level and overall health. I was a vegetarian for nearly 6 years in my 20's and felt really good. Here are some suggestions that might help you. 1st of all, you will get used to the taste of the veggies in about a week. Just choke them down as best as you can, then in about a week you'll actually probably like them. I use the fat free spray butter on my veggies and they taste great. I hope you have HUGE success doing this and most of all feel better!

BlondeAlligator....GREAT to hear from you, so glad you didn't gain any weight! Sounds like you had a blast at the park! Sometimes the most memorable moments happen without a single word. Like watching your daughter interact with another child, the strange calm, wonder and happiness moments like that can bring. Here's wishing you well on your week..I know you'll do great!

Kidsmom...You and I are leaving aroud the same time, are you getting as excited as I am?? I would love to meet up if we could, even just in passing or over a cocktail...did I say cocktail?? It is getting close :lmao: I really don't drink hardly at all unless I'm on vacation, and even then it's a tropical type refreshment usually with an umbrella and fruit :rotfl2: . Anyway, we will be @ OKW. I can let you know our itinerary and see if we'll be in the same place one day. I know it's probably a pipe dream, but just wanted to throw it out.

Have a great week all...You are the inspiration for me and have been so great!
Lanette

I am going to post twice to see how everyone is doing.

I hope all is going well and your motivation for a healthier life is overcoming the short, yet deadly, moments of weakness.

We're almost half way done with the work week so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

My son's field trip that was cancelled a few weeks ago is tomorrow as well as Kindergarten orientation for my 4 year old. I cannot believe they are doing it this early, but I'm crossing my fingers that I will get chosen in the lottery for the full day kindergarten class! There are only 24 spots for full day (budget cuts ya know) and a little pixie dust my way wouldn't hurt.

Anyway, looking forward to a VERY hot day @ the zoo and sweating off the ice cream I just have to splurge on.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
thelionqueen

Lionqueen - Here is all of the pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: that you can handle. I say that because I know how you are full of pixie dust anyway so anything that we give you will just go to waste. (Not really) i hoep you have a grand day tomorrow with your son at the zoo.

Everyone, I have been following the diet plan that I layed out a few days ago to the letter. I am still not too fond of the vegetables that I am eating but I am still eating them. I am doing everything in my power to eat very "clean" for the next two weeks to see if that will make any difference. At the same time, I am making sure that I stay off the scale until the end of next week. My goal is to get down to 185 so if you think about it at any point, I could use some of that pixie dust as well. I have to be very honest. I am really wanting some sweets. (I am dying for a Nestle Toll House Ice Cream Sandwich from WDW.) But I am staying strong and focused. I am also concentrating on my lower ab work. My upper abs are somewhat developed so I am focusing on the lower part and trying to just shed some of the bodyfat so I can have more definition. I am hoping to come back with some pictures of my family and myself that I can be proud of posting. I want to make my family (that's you guys!) proud of me the way I am so very proud of you. Everytime that I read one of your posts talking about your weight loss or your accomplishments, I try to visualize what all of you look like (I do have a pretty good imagination :figment: )and then I picture myself coming into the picture to congratulate you in person for the hardwork and dedication that you all have. I know I will never have a bodybuilder's body or a cover model's body but I do want to try to look good enough so if I want to get in the pool with my DD, I won't feel self-conscious. So I know that I have said it 100 times but I will say it again, Thank you very much for keeping me focused and motivated. You are helping me stay away from the foods that I don't need to eat.

Tomorrow is "hump day". Let's have a great day. Talk to you later!

Bubba,
I struggle with making sure to include enough fruits and veggies in my diet. And there really is no excuse except laziness. I like veggies! You're inspiring me to make an effort to improve in this area. Also, I tend to crave sweets, pretty much just chocolate...dark chocolate. Some nights, I'll have just one bite-size Dove dark chocolate bar just to satisfy my craving. My biggest weakness is homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven. I try to make them only twice a month, and encourage the kids to eat them quickly...before I do!

Best of luck to you on your goals...you're an encouragement! :thumbsup2

P.S. Sorry to abbreviate your quote...I'm still trying to figure out how all this computer stuff works!

:smickey: Hi everybody! This is my first post here. I joined WW 4/20 with my mother-in-law. My goal is to lose 60 lbs before our annual disney trip the week after thanksgiving. I used to be so skinny, and I never appreciated it before...so I always say that this time, when I lose the weight, I will not be taking it for granted...so it will be a learning thing! You are all an inspiration with your weight loss, I only hope that I can do as well as you!! Wish me luck -- I'm sure I will need it!! pixiedust:

m kasch....WELCOME :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: to our little thread. I'm SO glad you've decided to post and get healthier with all of us!

WW is a great program and I've heard and seen many success stories. I wish you the best of luck, let us know if there is anything we can help you with.

Well all, I'm getting down to crunch time and am super excited!! I am also super busy, so I'll make my posts short (don't applaud all at once:) Hope everyone is staying on track and keeping their eyes on the prize! I'll be taking some pictures especially for all of you and share them when I get back. I will be thinking of all of you while I'm there. Have a great day!!

Hi everyone. Sorry I havn't posted in a while but I have been very busy. This was my oldest sons last week of school and you know how that goes, bringing cupcakes, volunterring and stuff. Well we did it, today was his last day and he got another great report card! Hurray for him! :woohoo: Now it is time to start packing for our WDW trip, we leave on monday! I can't believe it is already here! I just hope we have a good time, it is supposed to be rainy! :sad2: But a rainy day in WDW is better than nothing! As for my diet I have stayed at 159lbs this week, havn't lost anymore but at least I havn't gained! I am ok with that. I will work hard this weekend, but come monday THE DIET IS OFF!

m_kasch - Welcome to our family. I am hoping but sure you will find it informative and inspiring. We have a great bunch of people here. I can honestly tell you that I consider these people my best friends. We literally have opened up about a lot of stuff here and it isn't always about weight loss. Now, I do have a few questions for you to get a little info. Just want to know the best way to be able to offer help. You told us that you have joined WW's but what else are you doing? Have you included any vitamins, drinking water, or exercise? If so, what are you doing or what do you have available to you so we can give suggestions that might be able to help? Please, let us know if there is anything that we can do to assist you in your quest for a healthier lifestyle.

Lionqueen and thekidsmom - You are both about to leave for your vacations and I have two things to say to you. 1) I wish I could go with you. 2) I am going to miss you both. You both have such a wonderful way with words that you keep me motivated by all of the kind words that you have sent my way. I really hope that you have the best vacation that you have ever had. Take lots of pictures, ride all of the rides, do all of the shows and eat all of the food that you want or have been craving and then come back and tell us all about it so we can have that has our motivation until we go. We all know that we all put on a little weight when you go on vacation. That is to be expected. I hope you both have a great time.

Update - This week has been a difficult one for me this week at work and at home. We have had some phone calls from our kids school about my DD and some things that have been going on. I have also had a lot of issues with my help and DM at work this week. I have been very stressed and nervous about all of the issues and it has been keeping me away from the gym and my cardio. I still have been eating very well and I have been doing some ab work at home so I am not being totally negligent (?) to what I need to be doing. I would do anything to be able to get all of this off of my shoulders, be able to relax and spend two hours at the gym but I just haven't been able to do it. I did go Monday and I am planning on going again tomorrow and hopefully Saturday so maybe I can salvage some of the week. So I guess I have two favors to ask. Please keep sending me as much pixie dust as you can. I need some magic right now. Also, for anyone of any faith, say a prayer for us as well. It has been a tough week and we need all of the help we can get.

Thank you all for all of your dedication, motivation and support. You are all so wonderful! :grouphug: :cheer2:  :woohoo: :cloud9: :thumbsup2

Hi everyone...we've been having a busy week here. KinderOlympics was yesterday & I volunteered...it was a blast. My DD's special ed pre-school participated & she had so much fun!

Hope everyone's having a great week...I have been doing really poorly this week on my diet...I don't know what the problem is. I have been craving sweets all week...HELP! I did much better today, but we'll see what the damage is this weekend. I need some positive vibes sent my way to give me better will power in the coming week.

Bubba: My thoughts are with you...I admire you for staying on your diet during a stressful time. That is so hard for me when I am worried about my DD! I hope that things are OK...

I'll check in this weekend...it can't come fast enough for me!

Take care, all!

Allison

Bubba...keep your chin up! We've had a ridiculously hard time too the past couple of weeks and it is getting better every day. Just keep your attitude in check and don't let anything get you down, even not going to the gym. In stressful times, our minds and bodies want to do things we sometimes cannot control. Just take it easy and try to look to the future that is filled with a FABULOUS (and much needed) Disney vacation as well as some much needed away time. Don't worry, it WILL pass and be a distant memory. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Well everyone, I just finished my packing today. YES it is finally nearly here! When I'm packing my boys activity backpacks and planning lunches for the plane, you know it's close! I'm so excited and am looking forward to some much needed relaxations. Besides, I'm sure Mickey is wondering where the heck I've been :lmao:

I have only been to the gym 5 times in the last 2 weeks but am doing well. I have not lost any, but have not gained any either. I know I will get a major workout @ WDW.. my boys are AK & Epcot junkies and we walk like 18+ miles per day. I am still going to do my best not to eat after 7:00pm, and watch what I eat. BUT I am not going to limit myself at all, and if I feel like getting it..I'm gettin' it! :woohoo: I think I've earned it. We are on the dining plan also so that just cements the fact that food will be abound!

I think the popcorn @ WDW is arguably the best in the world and I get some every single day. Another guily pleasure are candy apples @ Candy Cauldron. I LOVE them! DH & the boys are taking me there after Dinner @ Chef Mickeys on 5/28 (7:10pm for those who want to think of where we are) to get one as a late mother's day present. I'm excited, I'm sure you cannot tell. :bitelip: :hyper: :jumping1:

I will post again later or tomorrow and then that will probably be it until I return 6/10 (we don't have laptops). I will miss you all and be thinking of you often! :hippie:

Bubba-I know how you feel. My son has ADHD and have had our trying times with school. Hang in there summer vacation is coming soon.

lionqueen-You are ahead of me! I just started packing today, and it will probably take all weekend to be ready for monday! And I agree with you WDW popcorn is the best and we will get some every day too!

Well I have to go and make another list of what to pack!

Hey everyone! I hope all is well. Lionqueen and kidsmom - thank you for your kind words. It's wonderful to have such good friends that not only can I talk too but that I know always has my back when times are down. I know you are both going to have such a wondeful trip and that is exactly what you should do. You are on your vacation. I only have three weeks left before I leave so I don't have to much longer either.

Couple of quick updates. For those who have been on this thread for awhile, you probably have noticed that Momrek hasn't been posting for a while. Well, just to let you know, I have talked with her and she is doing fine. She just has been very busy with the daily struggles of life. She told me that she still has been reading the thread and even trying to maintain a regular exercise program. She does miss us and will be back very soon. She is a very sweet person and we all know she can offer a lot of support and encouragement. Momrek - if you read this, please know that we wish the very best for you and hope things will settle down for you some so you can find the time to relax.

Also, I know last week I said that I wasn't going to get back on the scale until next week but I succumbed to the power that the scale has. I was over at my parents house and got on the scale while I was over there. Well, you all know how strict I have been eating lately and you also know that I haven't even been able to get to the gym this past week. Nevertheless, the last time I weighed, I was at 192. I am now down to 187. This is awesome. I have three weeks before I go and I am 2 pounds from meeting my third goal. Talk about being excited. This is proof that you can do it. All you have to do is eat smart, be motivated and disciplined and you can do it. Here is a :cheer2: to all of us as we move closer to accomplishing our goals.

Have a great weekend and a fantastic Memorial Day!
God Bless our Troops!

BUBBA: I am here and running out the door LITERALLY!! I am headed to our Town's walking track in order to change things up from the usual usual GYM all the time...I just need a CHANGE and taking my (now home) college son!! We have a Graduation Party at noon and I need to get this walk in before all that food and I know when they bring it out (the food) is when I tell myself..nope, not worth it...you did your w/o today, and stick to veggies and fruit (hoping they have some)!
Seriously, gang, I told my DH, I get so worried about these types of events (food and all) that we go and we spend quality time but we leave trying so hard not to get pullllllllled in by all the goodies. So many times, I go to these events and people tell me "have you lost weight" and I am THRILLED to pieces and next thing out of their mouths is...EAT EAT EAT we have so much please help yourself....AAhhhhhhh!!! OKAY where is the veggies and fruit????

ANYWAY, thanks sooooooooooooo much BUBBA for the PM! You are the BEST ever and yes I am  going wacko with life and schedules and I will fill you all in later.....i.e. my sis being evacuted in Andover, MA by boat when her brand new condo was filled with water from all the storms we have had....ahhh!! AND more M&D not getting up the Maine Turnpike because of flooding highways. Then off to Graduation in RI...the list goes onnnnnnnnnnnnn!!

MISS YOU GUYS SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!
THANKS SO FOR THE CARE AND CONCERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thanks:
WILL POST SOON!!!!!!!!!
LOVE YOU ALL, MOMREK.....off to the Track with Mike :wave2:

Real quick here...I lost another .5 lbs this week...my total now is 7 lbs lost! Even though I didn't stick to my diet this week, I did exercise & I guess I wasn't as bad as I thought. Hope everyone else had another good week. have a great holiday weekend! I'm off to plant my flowers now.

Allison

I'm down another pound this week, 6 pounds total since I restarted WW. I stuck to the diet but really didn't exercise (aside from chasing my DS5). My goal this week is to try to walk every day.

Have a great holiday everyone!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Let us all take a moment to remember the brave men and women who fight for our freedom on a daily basis, not only today but ever since this great country was formed.

Have you ever noticed that you can be on a diet and exercise plan and right about the time you are really in full swing and excited (I know that is hard to believe.) there is always a holiday that comes up where generally people will get together to eat with family. And what happens when we get together to eat? It is so easy to get off of the diet and the training and not just eat but over-eat. I know we have a tendency to do the hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, baked beans, salad, potato salad and so much more at just about every holiday. It is so hard to have the will-power to say no to something or even regulate how much you take in. Especially when the rest of the family is saying, "Come on. Eat some more. We have plenty." Part of you wants to stay and enjoy and another part wants to run out of the house screaming for help. Every single one of you have been doing a fantastic job. Tiggerific, BlondeAlligator, Momrek and of course our two that is at Disney now, Lionqueen and thekidsmom. I am so proud of every single one of you. (I know I left a lot of people out of that list and I am sorry for not being able to remember everyones names. I hope that you all know and understand that I am pulling for everyone of you to meet and exceed your goals.) Here is a :grouphug: to get us through this day of temptation with strength and will-power. I am not saying to not enjoy the day or even some of the food that I am sure we will even help cook. I am just saying, let's enjoy in moderation so we don't come back on Tuesday asking ourselves how we could have eaten so much or been so bad on Monday. You will feel real good about yourself on Tuesday knowing what you were able to accomplish.

On a side note, I just made my 1,000th post. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :sunny: :cool1:  Hope you all have a simply wondeful day with your families.

Can you believe it is 4:00am and I can't sleet because I am so excited about going to WDW today! We don't leave untill 11:ooam! I know I am nuts!
