Dieting for Disney

:welcome: I want to convey my welcomes to all of our new members as well. MunkyMe13, Redwingfan3991, and Mysticpath. We sincerely hope that you can find encouragement, motivation and helpful tips and advice here with us. We have a GREAT bunch of people that has tried a lot, learned a lot and experienced a lot. We have several members that have lost more than 50 pounds and we also have several that have changed their look and outlook so much that even their closest friends don't recognize them. That isn't always a bad thing either. I was the one that grew up eating all of the junk food, sweets and sodas all day, everyday. I would never put anything on my plate that even looked healthy. Now, I hardly ever drink a soda and if I do, it's diet. No fried foods anymore. I have lost the taste for them. My one vice is certain sweets. I absolutely love chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. But when I eat them, I can eat the whole package of cookies or half of the container of ice cream. So I have combat that by not getting it while I am at the store. Now, that doesn't mean that I never "splurge". It is actually good to let go every once in a while. What is important is to be reasonable. Don't over do it. OK. Enough "preaching". I look forward to learning more about all of you and hope that we can help.

Update I had a good week last week at the gym. I went there Monday-Thursday without fail. Friday, my body just hurt so I stayed home. Saturday and Sunday was bitterly cold here and I never got out of the house. So, I got off my backside and got back into the gym tonight. I did a solid shoulder workout and then another 30 minutes of cardio. I think if I have kept up with my math correctly, I have went over 100 miles at the gym on the cardio machines already this year. If not, I am getting close.

I hope all of you realize what I already have. Everyone of us are WINNERS!! We have made a conscience decision to live a healthier lifestyle. This is not just a fly by night fling for a New Years Resolution. This is what we have decided to do to better ourselves and our lives. Let's make this a great week, month and year. It is up to us! Let's make it happen!!

Thank you for the welcome! I appreciate it. Honestly the W.I.S.H. board has helped me regain my motivation for working out! I am so happy to have come upon it! :dance3: Thank you all!

Today at the gym was short but intense. All I did was cardio. I stayed on the elliptical for 40 minutes and did my 5 miles but I changed up the intensity levels. One thing that I did that was different was to go at a brisk pace for about 5 minutes and then sprint for a minute. I did that during the whole session and boy, it was a butt kicker. I got my heart rate up to 160 and my speed up to 14 mph. Thank God for the elliptical because there is no way that I could do that on a treadmill. Then, I came home and did some crunches. I have also increased my water intake to over a gallon per day. I can tell that I am getting tighter. I am still not seeing the change on the scale that I would like to but I feel better. If I can get the physique that I desire and stay the weight that I am, I will be very happy. I don't think that is possible but I am hopeful.

:thanks: I wanted to say a quick Thank You! to all of you that ever come onto this board to post, learn, seek help or encouragement. Yesterday we were able to reach a milestone that I often didn't think that we would be able to reach. We went over 1,000 posts. The success that we have had as a group is tremendous and I am thrilled to be here in association with every single one of you. There is nobody on this planet as good as "Disney" people. We are one of a kind. Again, I thank you for our success. May it continue helping and reaching anyone that feels like they need assistance.:woohoo: :yay:  :worship: :cool1:

Love all of you!

WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: Your work out sounds awesome! Sounds like you will get to where you want to be very soon! :dance3: Keep up the awesome work!

After a couple of days off from the gym due to work and some personal issues, I was able to get back into the gym tonight. Although it was brief because I was running late at work again. I hurried through a chest workout and then did some cardio. I am still trying to keep cardio changing. I want to keep my body guessing on what I am going to do to it. This is more important than I had expected. I just figured I could do the same thing I always do but it is just like when you are working out with weights. If you do the same exercise everytime, then your body gets use to it and you won't get any results. (This is what I HATE about Curves.) So tonight I spent 30 minutes on the exercise bike. I don't feel like I did as much as I do with the elliptical but I was still able to get a pretty good sweat going.

What is going on with everyone else? It has been a couple of days since any one has posted. Everyone ok or just staying busy with life and exercise. I know it can become a part of the daily grind and very tedious but considering where we have been in the past, I think we would rather stick with the grind than let ourselves go back to that.

Hope everyone is doing great! We are in our final week of the first month of the year. How did everyone do? Any losses that you want to talk about? Let us celebrate your success with you. I want to go ahead and make a mention of one celebration again. I would like to congratulate Twotoohappy on her accomplishment at the 1/2 marathon just last week. I know we all are very proud of her.

Talk to you soon!
Bryan

Thanks Bryan!

Welcome new people! It's great to have new faces join the mix :)

CJK- a little over a week until your vaca! How are you doing?
and can I come with you ;)

Bryan- I'm trying to switch up the cardio now. Thanks for the idea!
I'm usually a wogger (walker+jogger) and go from outside wogs to
wogs on the treadmill, but I guess I should use the bike more often.
(can't do the elliptical - wayyyy to uncoordinated lol!)

How's everyone else doing?

I broke the 240 barrier and I am now 239!!!!:dance3:

I was in the 200s about 2 years ago, and there's been no turning

Just plain old exercise and not eating as much. I don't want to say diet cuz I am trying to change my lifestyle a bit. I drink about 6-8 little bottles of water a day and boy howdy do I eat a lot of subway.. LOL... I was sick yesterday and didn't eat much and I dropped almost 3 lbs... lol... so now I am at 236.6! :woohoo: at least feeling like crud paid off... lol...:rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a magical Sunday!! :wizard:

Working out spuradically, but will kick into full
high energy mode when the exercise competition on
the events/comp. board starts on Friday!
It's a year of commitment (I mean if you have to you can
leave the team by letting your captain know and you'll be
replaced) but... I need the motivation and the accountablity
right now! Plus I like to win prizes ;)

So, how's everyone doing?
This is slow for our group, is everyone ok, on track?

Have a great day, I'm off to do weights!

CJK - Have a safe trip :)

Hi all!

How are things going for everyone?

Tubachick - Welcome and congratulations on that weightloss!!!! I hope you keep checking in with us. Keep up the great work!!!

Munkyme - I agree with you. We're all NOT on diets, but are striving to live healthier lifestyles. I always failed at diets, but have been keeping up with this healthy lifestyle for nearly 2yrs now. Hope you're feeling better now!

Twotoohappy - I agree with you about prizes and motivation! ;) What kind of exercise will you be doing in these challenges?

Bubba - How are you doing? I hope your personal issues are resolving themselves and that you've had time for yourself. I need to follow your lead and change things up a bit. Thanks for the reminder!

Well, I'm off to Florida this weekend. It's not Disney, but I'll be going to Busch Gardens and enjoy some beach time (weather permitting!). I'm really hoping to keep up with my exercise regime and dh has agreed to join me. Our condo is on the beach and has a gym, plus there's a boardwalk nearby for running - not to mention the beach for romantic strolls! I haven't even started packing yet, so I'd better get to it.

Have a great week everyone and I'll talk to you when I get back! :goodvibes

Hey everyone! It is great to come on here and read all of your successes!
Tubachick WELCOME to our family! Your early start and already an 8 pound weight loss is great motivation. Congratulations! I hope you can find encouragement and motivation here and if needed, maybe even some advice. (Side Note: I love your name as I was a tuba player too. Ahhh, the memories.) Please let us know if we can do anything to help you succeed.

Twotoohappy Thank you so much for telling me about the competition. It sounds like it is going to be fun and motivating. I love a challenge so this will be right up my alley. Hopefully, I can help you towards those prizes.

Munkyme It is never fun to be down for a couple days. We have been experiencing that ALOT lately in our family. And yes, you are right about being able to loose while feeling down. It's a drag but it is life. Here is to you feeling better quickly:wizard: and be back on your feet again obtaining all of your goals.

CJK What can I say that I haven't already said a hundred times? Thanks for everything. I am actually getting ready for some personal downtime. This weekend while you are down at the beach, I am going to Mardi Gras near New Orleans. This will be a treat as I am not one who drinks but I will be going to an area where everyone else will be. Should make for an interesting time.

If I don't get back here tomorrow, I hope all of you have a fantastic weekend. Let's keep up with our exercise and our goals. We are what is going to make 2008 GREAT!!

Love all of you!
Bryan

Have a magical day! :wizard:

How's everyone doing?

It's quiet around here with some of Dis-family in New Orleans and WDW!

I'm on track, eating well and ran 4 miles yesterday.

I am back! The past 2 weeks have been my ultimate battle with the world trying to keep me away from going to the gym and exercising. I hate to say it but the world won the battle but I am going to win the war!!! Tonight was my first time back in the gym in 2 weeks. In that time frame, I have been averaging 12 hours a day at work. Half of the time, I haven't been getting lunch breaks. I have been scheduled to get off at 4 pm everyday but I haven't left yet before 7 pm. Then, to try to get a little bit off rest, this past weekend we went down to Mardi Gras. What was I thinking? I am going to one of the World's biggest parties thinking I would be able to rest some. I will say I didn't partake in any kind of alcoholic beverage but I did sample some of the fare. Since then, I have been wanting to get back into the gym but issues at work has prevented that. Then tonight, my wife was finally off from work so I didn't have to rush home. I was able to do a workout. Honestly, I didn't feel like doing it because of how tired I was but I got in there and did it. I just focused on my shoulders and biceps. I am going to try to get a good night sleep, work a half day tomorrow and then go do a good thorough workout. I will let you know how it goes.

Now, where is eveyone else? I know I have been gone but what is going on with all of you. Come back and let us all know how you are doing!

Love you all!
Bryan

Glad to have you back!
Don't forget to post your hours/miles on the comp. board.

I had a great weekend working out and then slowed waaaay
down over the week. Grrrrrr.
I'm off to the gym and a better workout today :)

Happy workouts everyone!

Had a great workout last night. As far as training goes, I focused solely on my triceps. But as far as cardio goes, I did an hour on the exercise bike. Hey! It was great. I was able to go over 10 miles. My leg was a little stiff afterwards but it wasn't too bad. I am actually planning on going back in just a little while. (DW had to work last night and she is still sleeping. So I have to wait for her to get up to watch the kids.) But it has felt really good getting back into the gym and getting focused again.

Quick note: I weighed myself last night at the gym and in the last 2 weeks, I have lost another 7 pounds. I was very surprised since I hadn't been able to get to the gym during that time frame but I will take it and run!!

How is everyone else doing? We have had kind of a slow week on here. Everyone ok?:confused3

Bryan - Excellent job on losing 7 pounds!!!!!!:cool1:
What's your goal?

I'm off to the gym to try to get in some quality miles.
oh yeah....
Disney finally got back to me about my application for next
Jan. because the Goofy closed online, and it will take a few
weeks to process my check.... BUT.....
I'm in for the Goofy + 5k:banana:
So that means- 5k Fri, 1/2 marathon Sat. and full marathon Sun:dance3:
I'm so excited! Plus it's a great event to go to as a WISH member!
There were so many WISHers running and cheering; it was amazing!
Everyone should do it at least once!

Happy Sunday everyone:dance3:
