I know that jmm476 is going to LOVE this review...because it is sure to change that skepticism about eating at a certain restaurant next month!! So here goes....
And coming in at #2 is.....
KOUZZINA!!!
Surprised? I didn't expect to go here, and this review will prove what I often say, once again...reviews that you read are all VERY subjective and you must judge for yourself before you can truly believe them!
Remember back when I told you guys that we couldn't stay at Cape May Cafe for dinner because my DS5's allergic reaction to the crabs steaming out in the open? Well...when the manager asked which restaurant we would like to try, we said Kouzzina, because it was convenient, not a signature, and not something we had an ADR for already. We figured, it's right on the Boardwalk, we will check it out. The manager of Cape May (Danna) arranged this with the manager of Kouzzina, Felipe.
We got to Kouzzina and were seated right away. Our server (forgot his name, sorry) was amazing! He told us all about the offerings at the restaurant, made some suggestions, and then left us to look at the menu a few moments. He came back and took our drink orders. I was in much need of an "adult" drink at this point, after DS5's allergy scare. I ordered the pomegranate splash, which was delicious. It had some sort of flavored vodka, pomegranate liqueur, cranberry juice and soda. Delicious! DH ordered a Sun-kissed Cocktail, a citrus-y drink. He enjoyed his as well. Here are some pics for you!!
We decided we would share an appetizer. DH suggested the spanakopita (Greek spinach pie). I LOVE this dish, so of course I was very happy! This was so delicious...the filling was very flavorful, and the spinach tasted nice and fresh. The phyllodough on the outside was flaky and nice and crisp! I have had some bad spanakopita and some good...the bad usually tastes soggy, like it is microwaved. This was some of the best I have ever eaten...outstanding!

Here it is:
The waiter also brought us out some very good fresh bread, and butter with black sea salt. Beautiful presentation, excellent taste!!
The kids wanted me to take pics of their entrees too, so I will post these first. DS5 had the kids' pizza, which he loved. DS3 had chicken noodle soup, grilled chicken and fries. The fries here are sweet potato fries. He ate some of the soup, a few bites of chicken and a few fries. He's in that "I'll eat when I want to" kind of phase, which my older one went through at the same age. His older brother wanted to try some fries, but he didn't like them. He's not into sweet potatoes and said, "these fries taste funny, Mommy!"

Here are pics of their food:
I had so much trouble deciding what to order. First off, I hadn't really studied the Kouzzina menu as I did the others, because I didn't know we would end up here, and I can be very indecisive when first looking at a menu.

Second, a few entrees contain fennel, which I cannot stand, so I eliminated those. Then, the remaining entrees all looked so good that I had so much trouble deciding what to get. What's a girl to do?

Well, Kouzzina has the perfect solution for indecisive people like me...give the customer a little bit of all the best dishes!!

I ordered the Kouzzina trio, which contains their cinnamon-stewed chicken over orzo, a small lamb burger with yogurt sauce, and a small (though not so small to me) portion of their pasitsio (Greek style lasagna). OH.......MY.....GOODNESS!!!!! All of these were magnificent!!! The cinnamon-stewed chicken was like a whole world of flavors! The orzo pasta underneath was a wonderful complement to this amazing dish. The lamb burger was a bit spicy...I am not into spicy food, but I like mild to moderate spice, and this was just perfect! The yogurt sauce was so good...I asked our server for some extra on the side and he was more than happy to bring me some right away. The pastitsio...well, this was just heavenly!! Meaty, saucy, rich from the bechamel, and delicious pasta!! Eating all three of these culinary wonders made me feel like

!!! Here's a pic:
DH decided to order the lamb shank. The meat just fell right off the bone! I tried a bite and it was so tender, juicy and flavorful. DH loves lamb, so this was right up his alley! He was very impressed with his entree. Here's a pic:
We were full, but we couldn't pass up dessert at this place. This restaurant was just too good to skip dessert here!! So, DH and I decided to take a look at the dessert menu. I told him to choose the dessert, since I knew I would only have a couple of bites because I was so stuffed already. He LOVES baklava, so we went with that. This comes with pistachio gelato. The baklava was very good, but I thought it was just a little bit better at Marrakesh. However, the pistachio gelato was out of this world!!! This is a great dessert!!
DH also decided to get some sort of iced latte drink with dessert...I can't remember if this had any alcohol in it, but knowing DH, it did!
The kids ordered dessert as well. DS5 got the kids' make-your-own-sundae, and DS3 got the make-your-own-dessert pizza. It is basically a sugar cookie with some toppings on the side.
And, to top off our exceptional experience at Kouzzina, our server brought out a graduation cupcake for DS5's pre-K graduation. He made a big deal over him and he felt very special!!
Overall, we were very impressed by Kouzzina and it has become one of our favorite restaurants in all of Disney World!! It was hard to decide whether this should be #2 or #1, but ultimately, there was one restaurant that beat it, by just a tiny margin. You will find that out soon!!
Kouzzina is an outstanding restaurant!! Excellent Mediterranean food, fantastic service, it is beautiful inside, and I think everyone should go there at least once!
