I started a really strict diet this week and don't want to sabotage it by having a couple of drinks over the weekend. Can anyone recommend some low calorie/sodium/sugar alcoholic beverages or websites that I can find this info? I've heard of vanilla vodka and diet sprite, but I really don't know how many calories are in it. I may just have to have a sober weekend for once:rotfl:

Gin or Vodka tonic - use diet tonic water & add a twist of lime. Pretty, bubbly and tastes good.

My MIL drinks Bacardi and Diet Coke:scared:

what kind of diet? WW? You can have wine for 2 points a glass....or rum and diet coke for 2 points.

My friend who is a calorie freak drinks Grey Goose and Water with tons of lime. I don't know how it is but I think it is low on the calories.

oh and put your flame suit on, I'm sure you'll get a few "you can't even go one weekend w/out drinking" comments.

Things like gin, vodka, and rum are somewhat diet friendly. Have them on the rocks or with tonic. Fruit juices, beers, and wines are where it starts to really get you.

When my DH and his buddies did Atkins, they said Jack and Diet Coke had zero carbs. I suppose you could use Coke Zero too, if you want "real" Coke flavor!

Club soda is a good mixer. Plain unflavored vodka, soda and a squeeze of lime is low caloric and tasty.

I never go a weekend without a drink or two. Therefore, my recipe is low sodium V-8 and vodka. They are only 2 pts. per drink on WW. My alternative is Miller lite which is 2 pts.

There really is no getting away from the fact that alcohol has calories. But unless you are getting smashed, it doesn't have to be too many. Figure about 100 calories per 1 1/2 oz shot of booze or a 5oz glass of wine. Stay away from mixers with calories and you should be able to stay within your diet. (Note that unlike wine and booze, there are significant non-alcohol calories in beer. A non-lite beer has about the same amount of alcohol as the 1 1/2 oz shot or the glass of wine, but will ring in at 150 calories.)

I'm not a big fan of "diet" mixers - diet tonic, diet coke, nutrasweetened margarita mixes, etc. You end up with tasty drinks that are too easy just to suck down.

Seltzer works well as a mixer - gin and soda's go down much slower than run and diet cokes. Seltzer is also great for cutting the calories in wine - a wine spritzer with 1/2 wine 1/2 seltzer is very light on calories.

Keep in mind the biggest risk with drinking - that you get a bit tipsy and start chowing on food!

I've always heard that wine in small amounts is ok, it's the hard liquor that will kill your diet.

A friend was on Atkins and she always had Vodka and Fresca.

I've been on and off Weight Watchers over the years and have always stuck to my glass of wine = 2 points.

I think it depends on whether you are on a low calorie or low carb diet as to what you should drink. I'm pretty sure wine is high in carbs.

mmm, vodka (I like Ketel One) and club soda with lost of lime or lemon! There are flavored vodkas, and also flavored club sodas.

I also like dirty martinis. YUM!

Also, Capt Morgan (love that spiced rum) and club with lots of lime.

I also like a few cocktails and have some every weekend!

My mother used to drink crystal light and vodka - but I wouldn't recommend this.

My neighbor made sugar free lemon drop martinis when she was on a diet. Equal parts freshly squeezed lemon juice and vodka then add artificial sweetener to taste.

Here are some caloric facts;

4 calories per gram of carbohydrate.
9 calories per gram of FAT
9 calories per gram of ALCOHOL.

I guess you need to decide how important that drink is.

My DD told me to try a Malibu Rum & diet Coke. It was yummy. I usually have Malibu, cranberry & pinapple juice so this new drink is alot more diet friendly. :thumbsup2
