Diet Coke

I love this thread. I thought it was only me. I hate the stares in the morning. I hate the "you drink THAT much statements. I certainly love the fact that it doesn't cost anything near Starbucks! We get more bang for our buck, right?

I feel somewhat defensive about my Diet Coke habit, particularly when I'm having my morning Diet Coke. Why do people make comments about drinking it in the morning? How is it so different than drinking nutrasweet sweetened coffee???? It's a whole lot easier to crack open a diet Coke can in the morning than to get out the coffee, grind it and make it. What a waste of time. In that time period, I could have had 2 diet cokes !

Amen to that! I always wonder what the big difference is, just because it's 7am??? I now call my morning dose of soda coffee.

BTW - does anyone else ever drink Pepsi One? It's got 1 calorie, and it's sweetened with Splenda. Mmmmmmm. So good!!!

When Diet Coke goes on sale............my husband becomes obsessed!

We've had a "wall" of 12 packs in our garage. I'd take pictures, but I'm somewhat conflicted about documenting our addiction.

As for the nasty comments about how much DC we drink........EVERYBODY's gotta have "one" vice.

I've got to stop reading these boards before bed. I had a dream last night that I ordered a Diet Coke onboard and was told they serve only Pepsi. I was outraged and told the man " I know this is a Coke ship, I read it on the boards" Diet Coke is the only thing I drink and I will walk out of a restuarant if they don't have it, so it really was a nightmare for me.

Here's a dumb question....... what is Coke Light?

Coke Light is a low calorie Coke that is sweetened with different artificial sweeteners than the Diet Coke found in the US. In particular it is found in countries that don't have the same restrictions on sweeteners as the US and apparently the UK.

I had it in the Czech Republic and didn't like it nearly as much as my beloved Diet Coke but suffered through drinking it since there were no other options.

I had no problems with the Diet Coke served on the Wonder in July.

I have, but it's not available around here anymore. It's still listed on the Pepsi website. I suspect the issue with it is the same as with Diet Coke with Splenda, it's sells out. I also think there is a shortage of Splenda . I used to drink Diet 7 UP too, it had Splenda too. But about a year ago they reformulated it, called it better tasting (not), and took the Spenda out and went back to Nutrasweet.
Now, Diet Shasta Cola is made with Splenda too, but it too is often sold out, and you can only get it at the Dollar Tree and 99 cent stores.
I also used to drink Diet RC Cola, it too was made with Splenda.....but I guess RC Cola sells "territories" to bottling companies and it is up to the individual bottlers to decide which of their soft drink lines they want to bottle. The local company decided it wanted to stop selling diet RC, so you can't get it here anymore either. Oddly though, there are actually companies that will ship you soft drinks, and Diet RC is one I could have shipped to my house.

As do I... My parents recently moved to my area of the country and we live in proximity for the first time in three years. My mom is worried about my diet Coke consumption, to the point that I can't stub my toe without it being blamed on diet Coke! "It's probably all that caffiene you drink" has now replaced the old stand-by, "You're probaby pregnant" when I complain about having a headache, or being in a bad mood, or having weird dreams, etc.

Also, I believe "Coke Light" is ANY low-calorie Coca-Cola except ours in the USA. It is my understanding that the word "diet" to mean "this will help you get/stay skinny" as an adjective in front of a food or beverage product doesn't translate to any other language. And I'm sure they tweak the formula to match local tastes (which, if you've visited World of Coke or whatever that sample station is at EPCOT, you realize varies to a frightening degree among different cultures).
