My DH and I have a horrible addiction to Diet Coke. It's actually quite embarrassing how much we consume. :scared1:

On our last cruise, we noticed a few days into the cruise that the diet coke turned a little flat, and I suspect that it was possibly (gasp!) Coke Light! Which is NOT an acceptable substitute.

Was this a fluke?

Is this how it is going to be again?

Must I bring my own supply of Diet Coke with me? (DH is on his own!)

Any other Diet Coke addicts have the same experience.

We have been in therapy for quite sometime ourselves!! On our last cruise August 07 the Diet Coke was perfect the whole time. It seemed to be the original but with fountain drinks they vary sometimes depending on the mixture. It will be fine though, so enjoy!!

:thumbsup2 This is good news......leaves more room in the suitcase.....and lighter too!

On our last cruise, the WHOLE ship had "Coke Light", not just the beverage station at Deck 9. Whether we ordered it at dinner, from the bar, even CC............it was flat.

You know I just had a thought.....we were on the Magic on a Western.....I wonder if that makes a difference?

just came back from Magic Eastern 9/29-10/6, Diet Coke was good throughout deck 9 and restaurants.

Another diet coke junkie. One super big gulp a day. I have been on 8 DCL cruises and have found that at some point each day it goes flat at the beverage station on every cruise. Always perfect in the dining rooms though. Topsiders has problems as well as the beverage station.

You think you have problems...I am a Diet Pepsi addict. I have to drink that Diet Coke Swill for an entire week. ;)
Fizzy or Flat, it all tastes bad to me!

I'm with you on that! Terribly traumatic time.

Found the same thing on the Wonder.....the coke station started getting flat as the cruise went on. The dining rooms were fine and the buffet area was good in the morning. But the drink station on deck 9 started to suffer as the day wore on.

There is one way to be 100% sure - order a can from the bars. Yes, it costs more but you get a "fresh" glass every time. And you get it in a glass (okay plastic glass) as opposed to the cups at the beverage station (I'm picky that way).

I can't drink any Diet Coke from a fountain. All the Diet Coke syrup for fountain use is sweetened with Nutrasweet (which gives me headaches). I can only drink Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda (the cans with the yellow band on top) which they only sell in cans.

So on the ship I "had" to drink regular Coke sweetened with sugar. No problem other than the 150 calories I don't need!!!:lmao:

I prefer diet Coke to diet Pepsi, and I used to be very finicky about my beverage choices. Now, though, unless there's something horrifically wrong with it, as long as it's practically calorie-free and has a modest amount of caffeine, I'm good. Becoming a skinflint in my poorer days out of necessity and my own stubbornness now (I'm sorry; I'm not paying $1.69 for a 2-liter), I've acquired a taste for almost anything. Except diet Sam's Choice. *shudder*

Here's a dumb question....... what is Coke Light?

When I went on vacation a few years ago to Mexico, all they had was "Coke Light". That is the Diet Coke of Mexico I think! I don't think that "Diet Coke" is the same all over the world.

When we landed back home, my first stop was McDonalds.............there is nothing better than a fountain Diet Coke from McDonalds.....sigh....

(Yes.....I know I have a problem):rotfl:

Then you can imagine my dismay when I discovered that the office building in which I work is a Pepsi building!?! Some fool signed a contract and all we have is Pepsi (well, sometimes the juice/water machines have a few cans of Diet Coke, but they go quickly)! I do prefer Pepsi to Diet Pepsi - closer to the taste of Diet Coke, IMHO.

If Disney was a Pepsi seller, my bar bill would be even larger!

No, I'm pretty certain it isn't. I went back to UK, had a can of diet Pepsi, and it was foul. The closest thing to US diet Pepsi was Pepsi Max (which is a 0 calorie one) I actually will drink regular coke out of a soda dispenser, but any other cola, is pretty yucky. The syrup mix is never quite right.

Do you know if they have caffeine free diet coke?

I was on the Magic 9/22 and I was looking for and didn't see any CF Diet Coke at the drink station. I was on the Wonder the following week and there was CF at the drink station and I saw a watier with a can of it in Parrot Cay. Which just goes to prove my mothers point abut asking when you don't see something. :rolleyes1

:lmao: You crack me up!!!!:lmao: I dream of McD's diet coke as well but I did do ok with the fountain Coke Light in Mexico. Maybe different resorts?

For all you pepsi drinkers, I can sympathize. We always take a couple of 12 packs of Pepsi for DH.

When we were in Russia for our girls' adoptions, all we could get was "Coke Light." They don't sell Diet Coke there, only Coke Light. The bottle looked identical to our Diet Coke bottles, but the flavor was slightly different. Although I'm also horribly addicted to Diet Coke, I was just happy to have something that somewhat resembled Diet Coke.

I feel somewhat defensive about my Diet Coke habit, particularly when I'm having my morning Diet Coke. Why do people make comments about drinking it in the morning? How is it so different than drinking nutrasweet sweetened coffee???? It's a whole lot easier to crack open a diet Coke can in the morning than to get out the coffee, grind it and make it. What a waste of time. In that time period, I could have had 2 diet cokes:upsidedow !

Not to mention on how much that coffee habit can costs when it involves Starbucks!
