Did Your Boss Do Anything for Administrative Professional Day

I was quite surprised - we all went out to lunch to celebrate a co-worker's birthday and administrative professional day. When I got back, there was a vase with roses and a box of chocolate on my desk with a note saying thank you for all you do. I have worked in administration for almost 10 years - this was the first time the day was ever acknowledged - I love my new job!

Anybody else have the day acknowledged?

My boss for 12 years always gave nice gifts then he retired the next boss of 10 years nothing.

We had a luncheon for the 6 women who run our office. They make us look good.

We bought a few super-long subs from Subway, and all of us officers brought in various foods-salads, deserts, side dishes, etc. Usually we take them out to a restaurant, but this gave us a lot more time to sit and talk with one another.

As a present for each, we made coupon books with each of us contributing a coupon. My present is 15 minutes of silence since I talk a lot. A whole lot. :rotfl: One officer is giving lessons on the meanings of swear words since she knows them all. We had a lot of fun coming up with the different coupons.

Oh, and the boss' coupon is each one gets an extra day off with pay on a day of their choosing.

We had cheesecake and drinks. I got a trendy, insulated lunch "purse" with a matching pink aluminum thermos. And a card.

We gave our unit secretaries staffing coordinator and receptionists flowers and bought lunch for them

We were treated to lunch in the Staff Lounge today. All of the "clerical" staff at our school was included. Although I leave at 11:10, I went back at 12:40 for lunch. I didn't really want to, but thought I ought to for the "camraderie" (sp?)

The Interim Principal and Asst Principals also gave us Starbucks cards & a card.

This is an entirely new Administration. Previously, we were taken to a restaurant on two different days (so some could cover the others' office). So what was done today was just fine & much appreciated.

My boss took off today, I guess I can say that's my gift... :)

Our office did a catered breakfast for everyone and all of the support staff got a spa gift certificate. My boss also gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a handwritten thank you card.

The boss bought us lunch from an italian place down the street, it was nice

No nothing and I forgot all about it. Also was told we are not getting raises that he was going to look at again in March.

I normally give a formal lunch initiation to all of the admins the week before admin day so they can plan ahead for lunch out and not have anything planned. Then have everyone else in the office sign a thank you card, give the card with flowers or a plant in the AM and then we all go out to lunch.

This year, I dropped the ball big time! Our owner has been stuck in Ethiopia for the past week b/c he was not able to make his connection flight through Frankfurt due to the volcano and things at the office have been crazy! He finally landed at DFW this AM!!! I happened to look at my paper calendar about 10 this morning...it was all highlighted for admin day......

After berating myself mentally, I talked to our staff, everyone was free for lunch and we headed to a Brazilian steak house for lunch! We got there and it was closed. :sad1:

Option 2 was a hibachi grill. Lunch was good, but it is hard to talk at the grill, so it was not the fun lunch I had envisioned. Everyone was very nice, but I am sorry I forgot. I think it is very important to let people know how much you appreciate their efforts. We have a great staff!

My honest hope is to one day be able to take off 3 or 4 hours for manicures, pedicures and a long lunch. :cloud9:

I need to put a reminder on my outlook calendar for next year ASAP! I never look at my paper calendar...lol...

We got an email from our boss berating us for not utilizing the sign out board for breaks and lunches. I'm actually one of the few who do and it was funny today at lunch time to see those darned dots all over the board in the out position. Keep in mind, we just had a governor directive to reduce the backlog from 90 days to 30 with 3 furlough Fridays and the 5 of us in our unit broke our backs and have it down to 28 days in 1 month while all other Boards/Bureaus in the department are all working 6 days a week and aren't there yet.

If anyone is applying to be a nurse in CA, let me know

:sad1: Nobody acknowledged it for me. My boss never does. Years ago, my old boss and coworkers used to get me flowers and a gift card. Only my mom wished me a happy admin day.

From my boss I got potted plants for our garden and some mixed fruit and chocolate, and from the director I got a lovely vase of shasta daisies and tulips! :flower3:

Lol. To remind our boss we said, "Happy Administrative Professionals Day" and he said "thanks...wait, that's not for me is it?..well happy one to you guys." and then he left for luch :confused3 . Soooo- nothing for us :(

I work for an intermediate school district. This year our admins and teachers had the students paint flower pots and plant herbs/flowers in them. Then the students delivered them to us with little boxes of Miracle-Gro and gardening gloves so we can take good care of them. The smiles and pride on those little faces when they were giving the pots to us was THE BEST gift they could have given us. It was a "thank you" and a reminder of why we do what we do...all rolled into one. :lovestruc

We each got a $25 gift card to be used at one of the following restaurants: Chili's, Macaroni Grill, On The Border or Maggiano's. I work for 3 VERY generous doctors. I've been here for almost 10 years and can't imagine working for anyone else! They take GREAT care of us!

I got a new coffee pot, filters, and a pound of Jamaican Me Crazy coffee from the attorney I work for. And today the attorneys are having lunch for us (a few days late because 3 of the attorneys were out of the office on conferences this week). Not bad for a state-run office!

That's funny.

I gave my assistants the same gift card, along with a card, and donuts.
