Did You See Bill Maher's Disgusting Croc Hunter Halloween Costume?

You do know I was talking about the columnist, not Bill Maher, right?

No, I thought you meant Maher- I must have missed a post or two and got lost in the conversation.

I don't follow him that closley (I don't have premium cable), what did he say?

After 9/11 he said on his show "We have been the cowards, lobbing Cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, not cowardly."

lol. I thought it a bit odd you seemed to know who I was talking about! His appearance on Larry King was the first time I had ever heard of this columnist who posted the photo in question. And yes, Bill is a liberal!

I have seen Sullivan before actually. Maybe on Hannity and Colmes.

I guess he's mainly a print columnist. I don't look at Time magazine much anymore.

The picture in question is Bill Maher but it's not on his personal site of course. He is supposed to look like death warmed over and he's wearing pale make up with a wig that looks like he's water logged. This picture has been seen and talked about on several different boards. This is his take on the hysteria that surrounded Steve Irwin's death and the public's facination with any big celebrity that dies. Just look on this board and do a search and see what you find. You have people that didn't know Mr. Irwin personally, but were in morning and in sorrow over his unfortunate death. It was like that on several internet message groups and boards. I started watching Bill Maher in 94 when P/I first came out on Comedy Central then it moved to ABC in 99 or 2000. I saw him in concert in 96 and trust me, he's capable of this type of humor. He famous for his acid like tonque and comments and is pretty hard on celebrities and the coverage of them at times, along with politicans and what ever else catches his eye.

Sometimes this facination with celebrities in this country, gets to be over the top. Bill Maher is famous for pointing out the ridiculous in real life. He's not the only one who has dressed up that way for halloween. No doubt about it, he can be pretty damn mean and doesn't care if you get offended. I saw him in concert and he's was pretty raw on some topics. I quit watching him years ago but it's not hard to find out what he's up to. It was tasteless but what can you do?

Having the photo on several boards does not make it real. I still want a reputable source of proof. The conservatives ala Rush etc. would have a field day if this was real. Not a peep from any conservative pundit. Don't you find that a bit odd?

Yes it is odd, Rush would have a field day with this. If it does turn out to be Bill I feel it is in bad taste and I feel sorry for the family. What to you expect from someone who used to have a show called PI? I dont always agree with Bill, however I have always respected him on how he speaks his mind and doesn't back down just because the majority don't agree with him.

I don't know about Rush or any other conservative groups having a field day with this. I'm almost 99% postive that this is Bill Maher, but my question is, why would anyone really care? It's not that big of a deal and there was plenty of people who dressed up like a deceased Mr. Irwin for Halloween.

Is it wrong? Probably. Is it tasteless? Yes, but most of popular culture is, imo. There were people who dreesed up like a dead Princess Diana when she died in 97 and I found that tasteless as well. It just the way people are and it's just a big joke to them. I'm not saying it's right, but that's the way it is. I won't get my undies in a bunch over something like this. There's far more things to get upset about in this country and what's going on.

I can't see how anyone would make a big stink about this, from a political standpoint. If Rush or Hannity were to bring this up and make an issue out of it, then they better take a look at every Halloween party in America. Because there are plenty of tasteless/gross themes like this every year and I'm sure some of them party go'ers voted Republican as well. Taste and decency has no class or political boundries.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

I'm pretty sure it's him. I heard about it on the news before I even saw the picture here.

Sick. Very sick.

Wow, that's pretty bad. And I am usually one to say forget about it, let it go, who cares, live and let live, etc.
But that sucks. :sad2:

The Australian news has picked up on it. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,20675238-2,00.html?from=public_rss
Damn. That means Terry and the rest of the Irwin family will probably hear about it.

I am kind of upset the article says costumes of Steve Irwin are the "top costumes in the US". Just because a couple of idiots dress up in a very tacky, tasteless way, does not mean there will be thousands of "dead Steve Irwins" walking around tomorrow night. :sad2:

Though Bill Maher dressing like that, knowing he would be photographed doing it, I am sure only hurt peoples' opinions of Americans & our sense of humor.

Way to go Bill! You sure are making yourself look good to Americans & people around the world. What an idiot! :furious:

just one more reason to dislike him in my book
