Well, FYI, you can. That pesky little cold you have? Could be H1N1.
Going to bed now.
Going to bed now.
Yes, I did know that and mentioned it today during an H1N1 presentation to staff. Seven percent of H1N1 infections do not cause fever, which is another factor that distinguishes H1N1 from seasonal flu.
Apparently, you sure can get it with no fever!

"You really have no way of knowing if it's the flu or just a cold."
They make this statement in the above article. So, they really don't know.
Who are they testing to get these facts?
I was tested today for Type A flu and the test was positive.
With no fever. I don't feel very well, but I was much more sick last year when I had strep.
Interesting. I have to ask, since you didn't have a fever, what made you even go to the doctor? Were your other symptoms really severe? I just don't even set foot in a doctor unless I have a fever.
That is a good question! My DH just happened to have an appointment yesterday for a well check and about an hour before he got there he started feeling sick, as if he had been hit by a ton of bricks. (No fever.) They did a flu test which was positive.
I started having the same symptoms last night myself, and so I decided to get checked out. I wanted to get tamiflu early to possibly avoid a more severe case.
So I wonder if you would have eventually developed a fever had you not gotten the Tamiflu so soon? The one time I had the flu, it hit me suddenly as you described but the fever didn't come for another 24 hours or so.
I've heard that in my area they aren't giving Tamiflu unless you have asthma. I guess every place is different.
