Did you know anyone famous before they were famous?

FOJMO, I attended college in Allentown and was in a math class with Lara Jo Miller (she was already a "name" though). Hated her because she aced EVERYTHING! ;) Her mom ran a talent agency, didn't she? At the same time, one of the locals appeared in several theatre productions that I was involved in. I'm not sure what she's doing now, but she did appear in the movie She Devil with Roseanne Barr & Meryl Streep. She was Roseanne's daughter. She went by the name of Elizabeth Peters in the movie, but that wasn't her real name. She was a really nice girl.

Hey, small world! What college did you attend in Allentown? I did several shows, including "Hair", "Forty Carats", "Fiddler on the Roof" at Cedar Crest College. My brother worked for Muhlenberg College. If you were into acting, though, you may have gone to St. Francis de Sales College -- they're pretty big for theatre.

Yeah, Lara Jill's mom still runs a talent agency for kids. When I was in "Not Now, Darling" at a local dinner theatre, Lara Jill used to pick up my discarded clothes when I "disrobed" on stage. AND, she played my little sister when I did Tzeitel in "Fiddler".

I'm not familiar with the person you're referring to as Elizabeth Peters. Maybe if I knew her real name. Looked her up on Google, but just takes you to She Devil, but no background on her.

My claim to fame is knowing Debbie Clemens the wife of soon to be 300 game winner Roger !!

I also knew quite a few of the Red Sox players and their wives back in the 80'a and early 90's. A few which i still keep in touch with to this day, even though their husbands are no longer playing baseball

I used to sit near Steven King at the Red Sox games and the year i hurt my knee I would sit in his seats as he had a much wider row that I could extend my leg. he has since changed the location of his seats.

The only person I knew before they were "famous" is Brian Datillo
he is on DAys Of Our Lives. He was my friend Kristins brother (we all went to High school together) She actually has been on lots of shows also. (Beverly hills 90210,friends,Aerosmith video,Alley Mcbeal, lots of short lived sit coms and other tv shows too many to mention.)

Kristin is on The Chris Isaak show...I love that show.:D

I went to middle school and jr high with Shad Moss, better known as Lil Bow Wow...never really knew him, but it's kinda cool to see a famous face in my middle school yearbooks. Of course now no one at my school likes him because he's too ashamed to say he's from the suburbs, he says hes from Columbus so he sounds cooler. And he transferred to a private school because it supposedly had better security, even though no one here even cared that he was a celebrity.

My aunt went to school with Jill Cordes, who does Best Of on the Food Network.

My dad lived next to Fabian when they were kids. Kelly Ripa grew up in the town next door to me. I've never met her but I did meet her mom & sister. Rumor has it that she cheered for the same squad my DD cheers for.

Jipsy, I like Ty Herndon's music....What was he like?

My one person from high school and college and community theater during college.. has become a small actress in L. A.

Another friend of mine (actually an ex-BF) is a writer in L. A. (aren't they all?), and has done bit parts on some TV shows, and some extra work in LA... he was in Mighty Joe Young, and he actually got a gig playing Ben Franklin.

My one neighbor became a Philadelphia Eagle and is now an Atlanta Falcon... (thats the biggest star!)

When my Mom was in high school she hung out with Tommy Hilfiger's brothers. I don't think she knew him very well though.

Another person I knew was John Goodman. When I lived in Louisiana, he had bought a house about 5 miles from where I lived. I went over one day & actually knocked & we got to hang out & stuff. it was fun!

JoNo, was that in Bogalusa? I lived w/my cousin there one summer; she lived a few miles from him, and he went to her church now and then.

I "knew" the guys from Matchbox20 for maybe a year or so... met them in downtown Orlando... until they got too big to be bothered  . I moved back to LA about a month after we met them, so we'd just meet up w/them at their shows when they would come around. I'd talk w/all of them a little at each show, but Adam & Bryan were the friendliest w/me & my friends. Very nice guys; Paul always seemed shy. I should dig up some photos. Before they were on the radio, I sat at a table w/Rob's mom at a little club in Orlando. I didn't bring my camera because I didn't want to look like a tourist. Lo and behold, all their families were there taking pictures. I so regret that now.

Some of these stories are interesting. Others are really stretching the word "famous."

I am confused.

Are you asking if we knew anyone BEFORE they became famous

OR

are you asking if we know someone related to someone famous.

Actually, this was after a little journalism initiation ritual......

DO NOT USE THE "H" WORD

I was once kissed by a guy who said he used to be a Kansas City Royal ... Does that count??

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

People I have personally known before fame:
**David Diamond (An original keyboard player for "Berlin")~ went to high school with him.
**Eva LaRue ("Maria" on All My Children). I grew up with her and we are cousins (somehow). I still see her occasionally on holidays when she comes in from New York.

Don't personally know but......
*** (Tiger Woods connection)........My "surrogate" Father (a neighbor & Eva's Uncle) was Tiger Woods high school golf coach!! He has written a book and appeared on a few TV shows.
***My college room mates went to high school with Gwen Stefani of "No Doubt". My husband also went to that school but is a few years older.

I have met many celebs after they were famous, so they don't count for this thread.
:smooth:

"I also worked with the 2nd cousin of Don (American Pie) McLean."

My Uncle is friends with Don McLean! He has a couple of different houses here in Maine.

My cousin's boss is Art Carney's nephew.... at her wedding you would have sworn she was dancing with Art himself!

"This is funny, since I read his book on writing. He talks about his time as a teacher and how much he hated it. And he was very low paid and used to go home to his horrible trailer and write Carrie leaning on the dryer"

Stephen and Tabitha King are very generous people...BUT when they were young and poor they went to the town office where they were living and asked for some help paying for fuel oil (I believe their oldest child was an infant) Maine winters can be brutal, and it isn't uncommon for low income people to get help paying for heat. Anyway the town turned them down FLAT and a couple of years ago that town asked them for funds for something or other and THEY turned that town down FLAT!

Steve Buscemi, the actor. We went to high School together
