We purchased in 1992 when OKW was DVC. Even if there were resales that early on I wouldn't have purchased one. The free pass perk we got when we purchased would have been to good to give up.

When we purchased in 2000, I didn't *know* about resales per se. My friend who primed me with info about DVC mentioned selling if needed, the guide mentioned about selling if we had to, even pointing out the RoFR kept the prices "stable" or somesuch. The neurons just never clicked under the Disney Daze  that there would be a resale market.

I actually like SSR and wanted to purchase there, so we went through Disney to get the price break, no closing costs, etc. I love the feel of OKW and we will be looking to buy more points there at some point as well I am sure and will definately look at a resale for any other purchases.

I had to purchase resale for my first purchase because I wasn't going to Disney and can't purchase from my home state. Without resale, I wouldn't be a member!

During the sales presentation I said to my wife, "I know we can get one of these cheaper through resale somehow." And we did.

We came close to buying a timeshare at Heavenly Valley in Lake Tahoe once. I'm glad we didn't. but it sure was beautiful!

My husband said the same exact thing during the presentation, that someone has to be reselling this. We wanted into VWL and it was sold out, so resale was the only way to go.

We bought our first contract in 91 there were no DVC resales at the time. We have since bought one more contract at BCV from Disney, and two more for OKW from the TSS.
